6444 Tasting Notes
I’ve been trying to drink this all day to no avail. I got sips here and there and it’s been good but the sips have been fleeting while I’ve been attending to other things. Now it’s 10:30 at night and I’m preparing for bed with half an iced latte of black tea that’s still ice cold thanks to the insulation of the tumbler. I likely won’t finish this which is a shame because I think this is the best way to have it. It’s really brought out the vanilla which is the “sweet” part of this sweet chai.
Iced Latte Sipdown (262)
I made this earlier today in a DAVIDsTEA tumbler so it is still quite cold.
My sister and brother-in-law went to my mom’s for dinner tonight. My mom and I are not speaking so I stayed behind. I did, however, ask my brother-in-law to check the mail before they left because I had a feeling there was something there for me. There was! My second Dessert by Deb order (this time with Sil and Roswell Strange) arrived so I spent the first little while of me being home alone dividing the freebie and samples into three while listening to Disney music. Now I am adding my teas into my cupboard and spreadsheet and watching X-Men: Dark Pheonix.
This iced latte is, as always, delicious. So much great banana flavor and a touch of smoke that just lends itself so nicely to the iced latte prep method. I don’t have whipped cream and this doesn’t need syrups. Just tea, ice and milk so I am sad it is gone.
Iced Latte Sipdown (263)
This has gone the way of Mocha Rocha as an iced latte. I liked this tea plain so I thought it would make a perfect iced latte with some chocolate and caramel syrup. Alas, this tastes exactly like Mocha Rocha by Dollar Tea Club and that’s bad. I don’t know if it’s the rooibos or the coffee beans or the dandelion but whatever it is, this certainly doesn’t work. Dropping the rating from 77
It’s not a very comforting thought when the creator of a blend only rates it a 32. Plus it’s an earl grey which has been growing on me lately but still isn’t a favourite. So basically I’m going into this expecting to hate it…
Well…I don’t hate it, but I don’t really like it either. The bergamot is there but not overly present. Instead I’m getting muddled rose and apricot and hazelnut, which sounds good but it’s as each has gone slightly off as there is a woodiness from the combo and it sort of all falls flat at the end. Yeah, it kind of starts as flavours and becomes cardboard.
I like the idea here but age hasn’t served this well. Still fun to try though and definitely not terrible.
This wasn’t a favorite. I expected honey and baked cherry but instead got an almost metallic black tea experience.
