53 Tasting Notes
Kak! They’re kidding with this stuff, right? Just NO. NO NO NO. Lord NO.
I recently modified my diet and have significantly cut out a lot of sugars and carbs. I really freaking miss my Oregon Chai Latte Concentrate. Hot with milk, it was seriously like crack to me (not that I would know how crack is, lol)!
The Target in my area has SERIOUSLY stepped up their tea game. A’right Red Ball Store, you go! I was excited to see this sugar free alternative (albeit a different brand) of my long, lost love. But, sad to see the Oregon Chai on massive discount … I am suspiciously thinking they are no longer going to sell this since their cough lame cough “Archer Farms” brand chai lattes have been introduced. This stuff is so new, I couldn’t find anything about it online anywhere – not even on Target’s website.
This stuff tastes so fake. It’s seriously gross. It smells somewhat reminiscent of my former love, but not really.
Maybe, someone else will try it and doctor it up fabulously and it will be delicious!
Flavors: Artificial
I like plain black tea mainly iced, but when I’m in the mood for it hot, I reach for either Yorkshire Gold or PG Tips … neither have any characteristics to me that differ one from the other. They’re both very excellent black teas to have on hand. If for whatever reason I need to use one to ice – which is rare as I have my favorites for iced – I prefer PG Tips just slightly. I do have several breakfast blends I sometimes bounce between. Depends on what I have on hand at the time.
Yorkshire Gold is smoooooth and bold and I love it. No frills, just a delicious blend. Having it on hand is a great addition to your tea collection.
This is just a weird tea. I can smell the butter, but I can’t really taste it. I don’t even know what I taste? As soon as the tea touches my tongue I get a mental image of emptying the pencil shavings from the metal pencil sharpener at my old grade school. That’s what the smell reminds me of. It’s drinkable and perhaps with a some sweetener it could really shine.
The reviews here are split on this one, some people really enjoy this! So for that, I recommend. Your taste may differ from mine. This will not be a re-buy for me.
Preparation
Tastes almost like that chocolate cinnamon cake The Pioneer Woman bakes! Has a slight chai feel. I just wish it was a tad richer and creamier on it’s own. Of course, this can be fixed with some additions. I can see this being delicious mixed with equal parts of milk.
Flavors: Chocolate, Cinnamon, Spices
Preparation
I love vanilla! I love coconut! I love almond! But I didn’t love this tea. I really wanted to, because it sounds like my perfect tea! I have been seriously looking for these flavors in a tea for a loooong time! The flavors in this tea just don’t blend well and are somewhat off-putting to my taste buds. Not the worst cup I’ve ever had – but not a re-order for me. I always try to recommend a tea I may not like, cause maybe you will?
My search for the perfect vanilla, almond and coconut tea continues.
My first sipdown =)
I ordered a lot of samples from Tea Guys. The first time I tried this I thought it was “OK”, the second time was more like “meh, why did I buy this?” and for my final taste it was really delicious. I think the trick with this one (for me anyway) is to measure a little more tea. It was only when I added a bit more did I get a blissful cup. So, a sample of this yielded me only 3 cups, but I think if I had steeped it correctly it’s more like 2.
I will definitely re-order this one. This tea is one of the few teas that come in different varieties (bagged, loose, canned, etc) on their website, so it must be popular.

Did it have an authentic maple flavour? I am always on the look out for a genuine maple tasting tea moreso than an “Aunt Jemima” type artificial flavour.
I need to preface this review: I had been reading about this company for several months and was wowed by the positive reviews only to find the company was closed (but on the verge of re-opening!) Once they did, I chose my samples wisely and figured I couldn’t go wrong with the highly praised ones. I just had to order from 52teas again after running out of my “Sun & Clouds” sample. 52teas, you are going to cause me to go broke! I can’t resist buy samples of new flavors I think I will love!
And now, this tea. I knew this would be one of the teas I would try if they offered it again. By the time I saw it, I’m guessing the samples were all sold out. SIGH. Let’s be real – $12 is a lot to spend to find out if you even like a tea. So for a couple of days I thought about it, would it be worth it? What if was really good and I missed out? Oh well, I bought it anyways. SO GLAD I did. It’s amazing.
It seriously does taste like hot, walnutt-y banana bread! I drank it so fast. I am going to hoard this, I can tell. =)
