1629 Tasting Notes
Another awesome sample from RachanaC – iHeartTeas. WOO Thank you! The leaves looked so tempting, and I knew I had to try this today. The leaves were wet or damp-looking to me. There was a mix of green lime zest and shredded coconut and black tea. The lime and coconut scents predominated this mix. I couldn’t really tell what color this was since I mistakenly used a dark blue mug!
The lime was very strong in this brew. It is tart and has a sharp note in it. There is barely any coconut in this. This is tart just like a key lime pie. I love these tropical blends! There is a sweetness to this tea, as well as a bit of creaminess to it. I’m not sure what it is though, but there seems to be a strange chemical-like taste to the aftertaste. My mouth doesn’t seem to like it too much. Good tea overall! Probably not my thing. I am curious to try this cold!!! :)
Preparation
I wanted something citrusy and sweet tonight while watching Wizard of Oz on TV. This fit the bill! I found my sample and brewed it up. This is absolutely delicious! The scent is like lemon pledge mixed with sweet, almost-burnt sugar. The beginning of the sip is a bit tart… more of a lime tartness to it and then it leaves me with an astringency in my mouth. This THEN evolves into the lemon-lime meringue pie! So delicious! The aftertaste is fantastic. The sweetness lingers and this tastes exactly like the pie! The tartness and sweetness mixed with creaminess that the kukicha imparts. This is great! The crust is in there as well, and this is all in the aftertaste as well. As I continue to drink this awesome beverage, I have this continual dessert in my mouth. Great tea! Genius! It doesn’t need any sugar either. Though, I’m rather curious as to what it would taste like with sugar.

So I know I wrote yesterday that I wanted to try this tea with additives, but after taking a sip, I couldn’t taint this tea. This tea is perfection alone! It is not bitter at all! I am not used to black teas being this smooth! So good! :)

So I dug through my sample basket and found this laying in there! Wow I can’t believe I haven’t tried it. So I ripped it open and steeped it up! The leaves were exactly like the picture. Small, black but not ground up. It smelled almost metallic like a yunnan. The liquor was a nice ambery brown. The scent was warm and toasty. It didn’t taste metallic, but there was some astringency in the back of my mouth. Even with the astringency, there was no bitterness!! Woo! The taste was malty and slightly nutty and fruity, almost like berries. The feeling in my mouth was also smooth. Delicious! I was surprised that I didn’t need additives!! It tasted good without any milk or sugar.
I am glad I left a little for another steeping session. I want to try this with milk and/or sugar next time.
Preparation
I received this in a swap and used the whole tin to brew up a pitcher of iced tea. I saw that this product may contain some hibiscus and lavender, which don’t fare too well, in my opinion, in hot water. There may have been too much lavender in this mix as it tasted a little bit soapy. Nonetheless, it is a good, juicy iced tea. I don’t think this would be good warm. Iced, it is strong, and I didn’t even have it steeping in the fridge for 12 hours when the brew was already a dark red color. I took it out after that. This is just okay.

I took the day off to run errands and relax today. I am so happy I did. I get to enjoy teas as well! This tea is so good! It gives me a soft but nice caffeine kick. The nutty notes definitely stand out, as well as the cocoa and slightly tobacco-ish notes. Good tea. The leaves look like yunnan leaves with its brown to light brown, soft, fuzzy waves/curls. It smells and tastes almost like yunnan as well!
