1629 Tasting Notes
So I finished this tea up today. I love this tea so much, but not enough to buy it again. I think it is because I have so many teas. Hopefully, I will be able to stick to just certain types of teas. Who knows!
Anyhow, after steeping this tea, I remembered how smooth this was! The scent of the dry leaf was, again, fruity and berry-like. Just like the other Kenyan teas from Butiki. The scent of the leaves post-steep smelled burnt, toasty, and roasty. It was almost off-putting. However, as soon as the liquid hit my mouth I knew I was wrong! This tea is delicious and smooth. I had to let it cool off to get the real flavors. There was some nutty and toasty and cocoa flavors to this.
I accidentally let this cool to room temperature. I still took a sip, and it tasted even better! I wonder what this tea is like cold! It was slightly sweet and fruity! Yum! No bitterness… no astringency! Very refreshing and soothing. I like!
Preparation
I’m getting close to finishing this tea! Noooo! I love this tea! I can taste it losing its freshness though as I’ve had this for quite a long time now. It is still tasty. I wanted to drink this tea to see if it was my gaiwan that was messing up my previous oolong. It wasn’t. This tea is as good as I remember… just less fresh likely due to it being exposed to the air so many times! and age too! Anyhow, good tea! Yum!
I got this from Rachel Thank you!!!!!! I’m glad I got to try more teas!
Have I been spoiled? Wah! No!
This tea tasted like hot water with a hint of cardboard… It got better as I went onto my 2nd and 3rd steeping. It became more floral but the cardboard aftertaste was still there. Is it my gaiwan? I have enough sample left to do another steeping session. I’ll use a different vessel… So strange…. Or its my spoiled taste.
Either way, I can’t rate this right now :)
My husband and I split this tea this morning. Thank you Rachel for this sample! I knew I had tried this before and I remember liking it a lot too! So refreshing in a creamy, warm sort of way. I love how there were mint leaves in there, but they didn’t overpower the drink. Great mix!
These 1lb bags of tea and tisanes from Adagio are no joke! I can’t believe I still have a little of this left. I brewed this with Adagio’s peppermint, which was my go-to caffeine free mix. It still is tasty and refreshing and creamy! Mmm! Goodnight!!
If anyone wants to swap with me let me know! Just look in my cupboard. I’m trying to get rid of the teas I listed in the swap thread and can add those as freebies! :)
