173 Tasting Notes
So I made a test run of some chocolate covered popcorn that I plan on serving on my girls night this week :) YUM! I love that sweet and salty combination!
Well after that, I really wanted something different so I reached for this blend. I hadn’t tried it yet, which is surprising considering it was one of the ones I was most excited to try out of the sampler. I guess I would always reach for it and suddenly Moriarty would flash before my eyes “I will BURN the heart out of you!” yikes! The cup is enjoyable, but I was hoping for more cinnamon. I will reach for this when I need an extra kick for sure, but I won’t order a full bag of this one.
Preparation
I know I already did a note on this one tonight, but I did a re-steep and I felt that it warranted its own note. It was certainly better than I expected. It does have this weird spice to it, because it stays with you. There’s still this great sweetness to it. I had really really really low expectations for a second steep on this so I am pleasantly surprised! yay!
Preparation
This isn’t my only way to make tea, but I do use it most often! I am most definitely not a morning person, so every once in a while when I know I have an extra early start, I get everything together before I go to bed. Then my lovely morning person fiance just turns it on and my tea is all ready to go. Even if he doesn’t, all I have to do is flip a switch and my tea takes care of itself while I’m still too incoherent to function. I do wish that there were more temperature settings, which I suppose I could have paid more for one that does from other companies. What reeled me in for this one though was that the brewing chamber and the carafe were completely separate.
I put this in my triniTEA (love that thing!) and read some reviews while I waited. After some mixed reviews I was hesitant, but I have really been in the mood for something sweet and dessert like, HA, when am I not? My first few sips were like “wow, holy cats! This is delicious!” Then I took another, and that one was, hmm. When I poured my second cup it went back to “yay! amazing!” There must be something in here that gave me a weirdness, I am going to blame the licorice. I am getting a teeny bit of heat in the aftertaste, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, just an interesting twist. This also brewed up pretty dusty, but it didn’t bother me too much though.
Preparation
I bought just a cup of this to go after yesterday’s insanely early Sunday morning meeting :(
I had been wanting to try this one for a while, Teavana was right down the road, and I had time to kill. Talk about a bad combination ;P
I liked the roasty-toasty-ness of this (unsweetened!) Just about halfway through my cup I added a packet of sugar in the raw. It brought out some more of the chocolately goodness which I was missing a bit before. I didn’t end up getting any of this. I really wanted either a stronger orange flavor, or a stronger hazelnut flavor.
Had this tea yesterday morning. It’s been really cold and miserable here, and I wanted something with an in-your-face cinnamon spice taste. This one always fits the bill and I definitely wanted something to help start was going to be a jam packed day. I like how the samurai gives it some sweetness because of all the fruity bits. I added a bit more maharaja versus the samurai though. Anywho, this just really hit the spot and makes me eager to try more chai teas in the future.
Preparation
How have I only done one note on this tea? Seriously though, I drink this tea more than any other tea in my stash. Upping my rating on this. Speaking of which, I really need to sit down and decide on a rating system. Normally I look at the smileys and think “hmm, maybe a little more green for this one” idk. silly.
Cold brewed this one to take to work the next day. Well, I got snowed in so I’m just now getting to it. Fruity, guilty pleasure. I’ve also decided I need a container specifically for cold brewing tea, I probably would do more iced teas if I did. For some reason (laziness regarding making ice cubes) I don’t like brewing hot tea and pouring over ice.
Preparation
I added a free sample of this tea to my most recent order. I bought the Alice in Wonderland tea bags for a friend’s baby shower- hopefully it’s good! She loves Alice though, so she’ll at least love the tin ;)
I am going to have to give this one another go around on a taste testing. I have a strong candle burning that smells like cupcakes and it’s throwing me off. My first two cups were tried hot, no additives. On the re-steep I added some blueberry honey (yum) I don’t think I added enough leaves for this. oops. Better luck next time!
