Even while sick… This one to me is a No. Lots of mixed reviews on this one. It’s like soapy perfume. To be fair, I got a few free samples of this and it sat around for like 4 months but I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now.

On a good note… Sipdown.

This one is also a NO from me. I just can’t stand it for some reason, and I love similar teas.

Kawaii433

nods Definitely a NO.

AJRimmer

I also got this as a free sample, but I had to give it away because it was so weird.

tea-sipper

It’s certainly not the blend to give away for free if they’re trying to convince people to drink their teas…

Kawaii433

@AJRimmer: It was pretty weird… I should’ve done the same thing.
@tea-sipper: No kidding lol

Thank you, Derk :D

Well, you learn something every day… :) I looked up Limeflower, and it’s good for anxiety… And is a natural “anti-depressant, sedative and relaxant” and "have been used for centuries to treat anxiety, sleep disorders and hysteria”. I’m a pretty relaxed type of person anyway, but it was still good to know.

This part was interesting too: “It contains mucilage – a sticky substance that can help to soothe irritated membranes of the throat and it is known to decrease mucus production.” I have a bad cold, it’s in my chest. I’m taking Mucinex maximum every 12 hrs to loosen phlegm. One thing about colds… They can kill you if you have a history of asthma.

The health benefits don’t stop there either. Pretty interesting stuff. Anyway, I really needed this tea yesterday. It was light bodied honey-tasting tea from what I can tell at the time. I began losing my ability to smell and taste at that point.

Hopefully, I’ll be back soon with reviews. For now, I’ll work on sip-downs on so-so tea since I can’t taste anyway and need the fluids… And read all your reviews. :D

Update: Reset rating due to my sense of smell and taste were off.

Quick note, busy day. A client needed something yesterday but didn’t tell me till this morning. People need to realize: “A lack of planning on your part doesn’t constitute an emergency on mine.” Always use that quip hehe.

Had this in my daily sipper, I put 3g in 175ish°F water. It’s good, I’ve refilled it 3 times now. Had good toasted rice notes, popped rice, subtle cocoa notes. I made sure that “there’s only 1 white chocolate chip in the measurement.” It’s good on the re-steeps too. A nice comforting cup of tea that reminds me of coco puffs. Good Genmaimatcha blend.

This one smells like booze to me. lol I tried alcohol once when I was 14 yrs. old and got so sick that it was ingrained in my memory forever. I still feel a little sick thinking about it. I can have a cup of milk or cream, with a splash of Kahlua or a lime flavored margarita with an ungodly amount of lime and lots of salt (no other kind for some reason). Other than that, I’m super sensitive to the aroma/taste. In that way, I have almost superpowers in detecting booze. lol I digress.

Smelled alcoholic, even taste a little alcoholic, especially in the finish, like a fruit wine. I can taste stonefruits as I sip, lots of peaches, specifically white peaches, not the ripe yellow peaches… And some tart cherry. The grapefruit, not so much, but I taste the grapefruit rind, the delightful bitterness of a good grapefruit. About the only bitterness that I have embraced is the fruit rind.

Flavors: Bitter, Cherry, Floral, Grapefruit, Peach, Stonefruit

I can’t have alcohol at all, since it’s a migraine trigger for me. But I used to like it (wines, cocktails) so alcohol flavorings (that are entirely fake and don’t actually include alcohol and thus trigger a migraine) won’t bother me.

Kawaii433

I think that’s what is in some of the teas then. They have quite a few “wine” like flavors. I have an aunt who if she drinks red wine specifically, it triggers migraines. She too avoids all alcohol now.

I got a few samples from Lupicia that I’m working through today. Got a little congestion going on. I’m in that familiar stage “I think it’s an allergy… Or is it a cold?”. Whatever the case, my sense of taste/smell is probably off so why not try all the teabag samples during this time?

Clean finish, crisp flavor notes of berries. That’s what I got from this one. Honey sweetness. Not intense flavors, subtle but well-defined taste of berries. Strawberries, the tartness of raspberries, and some grassy notes due to the green tea base. The aroma in the beginning was somewhat candy-like, but the flavor was more realistic berries.

Thank you Derk!

I had seen Derk’s review on this and wanted to try it but I just couldn’t pull the trigger on buying a box of it on Amazon. I admit I didn’t have too high expectations but I was really hoping it was going to be decent. I know I like Numi’s toasted rice sencha so wondered if I’d like this one too.

This is good. I really like it. Nice cinnamon, nutmeg notes, some other spices. I don’t really get chocolate per se (maybe cocoa dust) but I haven’t really found a chocolate tea that tasted like chocolate lol. I taste it more in unflavored teas, to be honest.

I’ll get a box of the teabags for traveling. :D

I like this one and their Emporer’s Pu-erh a lot. Very good for pu-erh available in grocery stores (and tea bags)!

Kawaii433

Right! I think this one would be great for those who want to drink Pu’erh for health but don’t like the usual fermentation notes too.

This is my very first pumpkin flavored tea. hehe (Thank you Cameron B.!) and I seriously over-steeped it… Like by an hour. lol

It’s good though. I saw some poor reviews but it tastes like pumpkin to me. I also picked up cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg notes. Typical spices that pumpkin coffee, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin pies… Etc. have in it. Some other spices, maybe pepper… And it’s creamy. I only began trying flavored teas a month or so ago, and I think with flavored teas, I favor those that have “latte” or cream taste. I think if it wasn’t creamy, I wouldn’t have liked it so much. It really added to it.

Note: I ‘m staying away from bitter-astringent talking point since I over-steeped it and I didn’t ding it for that either because of it.

Thank you Cameron B.!

Refreshing and light-bodied tea with citrus notes, stonefruits, fruity… Not in your face type of tea. Really well balanced. Slightly malty to make it more satisfying. It’s also perfectly sweeetened with honey(?) so it’s not too sweet either. Enjoyed this sample in my daily sipper.

Daily sipper choice. Upfront… Unfortunately, this one is not for me. When I opened the thermos, it smelled perfumey, flowery and like cough syrup, medicinal. Those two aromas are bothersome to me. It was mainly the aroma though. The taste wasn’t quite as medicine-y. I got the sweet and tart raspberry notes, no cookie or almond notes though.

I have more so I will play around with the temperature and time to see if I can get a different result.

I started this in the morning and well, due to many things, my gongfu session was broken up, and one of my cats stepped on my phone and I lost count on which steep I was on, blahblahblah lol. So I restarted a new one.

The tea leaves are really pretty, mixed colors with gold in it. When I opened the package, the dry tea leaves smelled like hay, sweet hay. In the cup, the dry leaves had a malt, cocoa aroma, less hay. After the rinse, the lid and leaves had a nice cocoa, malty aroma.

As I continued, other things came in… Hints of citrus and their rind, stone fruits aroma and flavors. The lid smelled of honey, brown sugar and molasses. As I progressed, I didn’t get lots of chocolate, I did get some in the beginning. There was always a lot of malt notes. (It could be because last night I had their Cocoa Amore which has an abundance of chocolate. Everything is relative. hehe) The aroma was progressively getting stronger in fruits, particularly stone fruits. I didn’t get the tart apple or honeydew as described and unfortunately I have no idea what wildflowers taste like hehe.

The mouthfeel changed from silky, creamy to clean… Not a lot of astringency nor bitterness. It had a long finish no matter what infusion I was on, and as I was sitting here reading the reviews, I could smell orange, orange rind, cherry, stone fruits and molasses on the inhale-exhale well after I finished the infusion. In the middle of these infusions, it reminded me of the Moonlight raw pu’er from Teavivre because of the strong presence of stone fruits but with lots of malt and some creaminess. All in all, it was a good several cups of tea.

Profile

Bio

Longtime casual tea drinker. In the past, mainly Matcha, Gyokuro, Sencha, Genmaicha… Etc. I like all teas: Green, oolong, black & pu’erh (prefer ripe over raw).

Chanoyu (for matcha prep) and Gongfu cha (for other types of tea) are the main ways I prepare my tea (Gaiwan, Yixing teapot, Kyusu). I drink all tea… Usually unflavored. This past year, I’ve tried many flavored now because of all of you lol. As long as there aren’t artificial sweeteners, it’s all good.

Favorite stores: TeaVivre, What-Cha, Mandala Tea, 52Teas, Whispering Pines, Bird & Blend, Yunnan sourcing, White2Tea, Lupicia.

The flavors I dislike: Artificial sweetener, lavender, violet, any strong floral-perfumey tea; cantaloupe, papaya, honeydew, rose, licorice, anise, jasmine, any mints, leather.

Favorite flavors: Citrus fruits (especially grapefruit & tangerines), granny smith apple, bananas, guava, mango, tamarind, watermelon, stonefruits, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, milk, cinnamon, creme, bread/pastry, nuts, toasted, roasted.

I generally don’t add anything to my teas unless they are flavored, then I may add a splash of milk.

As I explore, my ratings may shift. 90+ generally means I’ll keep it on my shelf.
