242 Tasting Notes
In light of all the over indulging I participated in during the month of December, on New Years Day, I pulled out the random very old packet of DeTox tea that had been hanging out lonely in my “medicinal” tea box. Given how I felt after staying up most of NYE and having several cocktails, I don’t think I can give this a fair review but I will say it was “meh”. However, that was my opinion of most everything on Jan 1. I wasn’t wowed by it but at least I had a cup of tea to snuggle with on the couch.
Preparation
A tasty roobios tea that was gifted to me from a friend who over indulged at a tea home sale party. I love the smell of the tea leaves- definitely similar to a orange creamsicle and summer. The tea itself is very fruity and yummy to drink. While I do see the pineapple pieces in it I only taste orange and papaya with the roobios. Packaging says the leaves are good for two brews but I never find that to be true.
Flavors: Fruity, Orange
Preparation
A random tea bag in my stash, I might have snagged it when I was on a trip at the beginning of the year. I enjoyed this tea and would pick it up again if they changed their packaging to eliminate plastics. I found it to be light, slightly nutty, and smooth.
A cast off from a friend who didn’t care for it. I also have to say, it’s not a favorite alone. With a little honey, I find it improved.
There’s a earthy taste to it, similar to mushrooms. I do taste the spearmint -which is not a favorite flavor of mine but I don’t generally dislike it. However, I don’t feel that spearmint and lemon is a good combination in this.
Flavors: Autumn Leaf Pile, Lemon, Spearmint, Wet Earth
Preparation
Another from the Revolution sampler pack- and this one is a winner. I forgot how much I enjoy White teas. I really should pick up more. My stash is lacking.
This one had a lovely pear scent and was delightful to drink. The pear taste was clean and not too heavy. The tea was tasty and smooth.
Flavors: Pear, Sweet
Preparation
Obviously, I generally drink this when sick. To be honest, I actually really like the flavors. I feel like the herbs work well together. Though I’m not sure that they work but I’ll pretend it does.
Flavors: Cardamom, Clove, Ginger
Preparation
A friend sent this to me as she was cleaning out her tea cabinet because she had too much. Clearly something I don’t understand. I had attended the same in home party she had when she purchased this and at the time, didn’t care for the smell of the mix.
On first brew, it did not taste much different than a basic black tea blend.
On second brew (as the package says it’s good for 3 steeps), it smelled stronger (but reminded me of wet dog paws) but tasted like hot water. I did let it steep longer (6 minutes) but it remained unimpressive.
Not an impressive tea.
Flavors: Fur, Pecan, Wet Wood
Preparation
Picked up a sampler of Revolution teas at Cost Plus World Market when shopping for a Tea Advent Calendar (different company). I loooove the smell of lavender. This tea reminded me of my time in France and Maui at the lavender farms.
The tea is pretty well balanced; not too floral but not weak. Definitely would drink this again.
Preparation
FOUR!!??! I’m pretty certain my partner would raise an eyebrow or two at that. Ohhh but if I could…. I picked up the English Tea Shop calendar at World Market. It was inexpensive compared to the others on my list (next year!)
I guess I’m an overachiever, hah! I couldn’t decide which one I wanted… I also have a jam advent calendar. (shrugs)
I bought this on a whim for a women’s weekend away the weekend before the USA realized a pandemic was actually a thing to worry about. I’ve not seen it in the stores since. I truly do enjoy the tea. I find the flavors to be well balanced.
Flavors: Apple, Vanilla
