761 Tasting Notes
This is the 3rd of 4 dessert like teas from Lupicia that Dexter sent me. The last one is Chocolate and Strawberry Puer, which is likely to get me going tomorrow. Anyway…
This is a nice tea…it’s a little nutty, a little sweet, and there’s a hint of chocolate. It smells really good dry! I made this with a little cane sugar and milk today, but I think it might be better without the milk, so I’ll try it that way first, next time, and decide if I like it better with milk.
I’d say so far, I’m liking all of the Lupicia teas I have had, though the blacks have been the best so far. This is another one I wouldn’t mind having around regularly.
The first Sil matcha I tried. Didn’t quite get the proportions right, so it was a little thin, but made a mental note for the amaretto matcha I had today and it was much better. I didn’t really catch much Irish Cream in this like I did with the amaretto, but it may be because I made it too thin.
One of the matchas from Sil! I was sorta ok with the Irish Cream I tried yesterday (not logged yet), but then decided to try things a little differently today with the Amaretto.
I used the whole packet, a small amount of boiling water, a little sugar and a little milk. I found I needed to add more milk, but other than that, it was very tasty! I do love me some amaretto.
I found this one to be very similar to the Cinnamon Cookie Puer, only no cinnamon, and not quite as rich. Not in a bad way, mind you. It was a little sweeter in place of the cinnamon, and the coffee note was more subdued. This one does smell more like an almond cookie. I like both teas about equal.
It is really tasty! It makes a great breakfast tea for me. I’m eternally grateful to Dexter for sending this to me with a bunch of other Lupicia teas to try. So far, so good!
I’m getting a nice balance of green tea to apple with this one. It is not quite as sweet or apple-y as Big Apple from DAVIDs, but it is still good. I bet a drop of maple to sweeten instead of the raw cane sugar I use would bridge that gap. I might look at cold steeping the rest. I’d like to see if that pulls out more juicy apple.
Thanks to Dexter for sending me this one. I do love apple teas.
Very smooth and creamy cup…but I have to say that I’m getting very little pineapple. I get mostly floral oolong, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that…but I wish there was just a bit more pineapple and less floral. Adding a bit of raw cane sugar did make the mouthfeel a bit juicier though. I’m cold steeping the leaves for a second cup later, so we will see how that it. Will be interested to see how it compares to Butiki’s Flowery Pineapple Oolong.
All in all, it’s a good tea, but I need more pineapple. We’ll see how the cold brew holds up in that area. I will have no problem finishing the rest of this tea. Thanks so much for sending it Dexter!
Oh this one is tasty! It doesn’t have a strong cookie note to me, but I can pick up on the cinnamon and coffee a bit. If I were to make this as a latte, it would make me feel like I was having a cinnamon dolce latte from Starbucks. I could see myself drinking this one regularly. :)
Thanks for sending this one, Dexter! It’s super yummy!
Backlog from last night….
After the issue with the Cheesecake Honeybush last night, I wanted to try something else from Dexter, but still low in caffeine, and I chose this. I wanted to try this one to see how it compares to the caramel houjicha I have from Bird Pick. I’d say they are similar, but where the BP one is more roasty toasty, this one is smoother. It’s really a quite nice tea, and I like them both, but for different reasons. This one was a little more caramel and less roast.
OMG, yuck. Something in this one is really not agreeing with me. Sad, but I may dump this one and make something else.
Shame, as it is the first one from Dexter I am trying.
Yeah, sorry. It was the only caffeine free one. I think there may be something in the flavouring used for the coconut as I had a similar issue with the coconut matcha from RLT. Though I do generally like coconut. There was something chemical-y, I think. I’m gonna try the last bit of it at some point, as maybe I just had an off reaction to it last night.
Nice chocolate and coconut tea, though there is nothing here that says amazing. It’s tasty, but it doesn’t taste as good as the one DAVIDs has for the TOTM right now. I get coconut and chocolate, but not really a candy feel. I’m sure I won’t have any issue drinking the rest of the sample, but I likely would not reorder, just cuz I can get practically the same thing a few blocks from where I work.
LOL my “keep” list just keeps growing as I try them.
Yeah, some good stuff for sure! I’ll probably branch out to the fruity next…but I might try one of the other teas next, in between the fruity and desserty/nutty. Maybe one of the HP ones?
