Here’s Hoping Tea box
Korean Barley Tea
I’ve been wanting to try a Barley tea so here I go! Roasty and warming- I like it but it is reminiscent of coffee, so I may not be having it often.
Side note: I just got back from San Francisco so I’ll be having a couple great tax to add to this box.
I really liked San Francisco! It was only part of my trip, so I was only there for a day and a half, but I managed to get to 3 tea places: Samovar, Crown and Crumpet, and Red Blossom. Red Blossom was the best. I got to talk with the manager about Tea Drunk. I walked into a few other tea shops in China Town, but none were as good as Red Blossom.
Thanks, Crowkettle, for this sample!
Backlog from Sunday. What a warm sweet tea! The mint and anise are sweet and the other elements add a warmth like a cordial or liqueur. It tingles and tantalizes me. it was a little odd at first to reconcile the coolness of mint and the warmth that I’m feeling, but once I let go of that expectation, it was a fantastical taste voyage.
Travelling Tea Box C
I felt like this tea had been contaminated by a lot of other teas in the box. What I could tell was it was a spring-like green with a little bit of seaweed taste. There were a lot of generic floral and perfume elements in the taste that came from the box methinks.
Travelling Tea Box C
Since I had luck with Smaug, I decided to try this blend even though I haven’t been overly fond of 52tea in the past. This one was ok. It did taste vaguely like rootbeer. The base was more smoky than what I was expecting and I could use stronger sassafras or wintergreen or sasparilla or something. It was just a little too mild for my root beer preference. Still better than the 52teas I’ve had in the past though.
Travelling Tea Box C
Jinseng Oolong
The label didn’t say what brand/origin. I’ve had a ginseng oolong before and this one I felt was not as good. I like the ginseng a little bit stronger. The base was slightly more woody then I like as well. Still refreshing though for an office morning.
