January 2022 → A tea paired with a favorite hobby
Final tea for January. As expected from most any dandelion-heavy blend, it’s bitter and tastes a bit like dirt. :D
I’ve been taking some herbalism courses on and off over the last couple years, and many of the preparations include dandelion in some form or another. I think dandelion is one of those really wonderful plants where you can pretty much use the whole thing in one way or another. A real powerhouse herb, though most everyone I know considers it to be a pesky weed.
Surprisingly for a Yogi tea, this blend doesn’t have any licorice (though I swear that was the first thing I smelled when I opened the bag). The ingredient list is relatively short, again for a Yogi tea. I can’t say I loved the taste of this one, but I didn’t dump it out either.
Flavors: Bitter, Black Pepper, Dirt, Licorice Root, Spices

Ick! I should have known better than to think this wouldn’t be sickly sweet, but some brilliant tea maker thought sickly sweet licorice root should also have stevia accompanying it. Absolutely disgusting, I don’t know how anyone can enjoy this, and that’s coming from someone who prefers the taste of artificial sugar/diet soda. This isn’t a sweet tea with sugar added sweet. This is full blown stevia in overdrive sweet. It dries my tongue out too.
The licorice root is nice and licorice-y, herbaceous, distinct taste of medicinal herbs and root. The mint is fresh and not vegetal.
Flavors: Anise, Herbs, Licorice, Medicinal, Metallic, Mint, Sweet, Taro Root
Preparation
Bought this among a bunch of other tisanes the other day to drink when I don’t want caffeine and want a large mug of something to keep warm. Tried this the other day when I wasn’t feeling great and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It didn’t taste the way I thought it would. I realized afterward that this has added natural flavoring, which may be why I feel meh about it. And one of those flavorings is hazelnut, and while I like hazelnuts, I am allergic to them so that may or may not be a bad thing. I clearly didn’t read the ingredients on this one before I bought it.
Sweet, fruity, hibiscus-y; would do well as an iced or hot tea (or room-temp tea). Very pleasant taste makes it one of my go-to teas when I can’t decide what to drink. Added benefit of containing herbs that are good for the skin, like burdock and dandelion.
Flavors: Berry, Hibiscus, Mint, Rose
Preparation
My throat started getting scratchy again today. Not sure what this is about, but I brought a bag of this with me just in case, so I’m glad I did. It’s not helping as much today, though, just making my mouth taste like sweet fennel licorice.
Preparation
The taste is fine, but nothing special — mostly like mint (and a little bitter). I wouldn’t drink it for the taste alone, but the ingredients are beneficial for aches and pains. I haven’t noticed a huge difference in pain level after drinking it, but it seems to be a little effective.
Flavors: Peppermint, Spearmint
A decent tea, full of proven detoxing ingredients. As for the taste, it has a very “chai”-like flavor profile. I don’t love the flavor itself (I don’t enjoy chai tastes, and it’s somewhat spicy), but it has that soothing/warm feeling that I look for in any good tea, so I would still drink it again. I also enjoy the health benefits.
It has a very strange syrup-y taste that coats your whole mouth.. I hated it when I first drank it.. But NOW that I have a horrendous cold, I love it. For colds (sore throat/cough/congestion), it’s awesome. Not so much as an everyday treat.
Flavors: Licorice, Pancake Syrup
