this tea confuses me. i don’t get lemon meringue pie…or even lemon really. maybe super subtley but not enough…i had the same challenge with buttermilk lemon from Tea G, so maybe there’s something about that sort of flavouring that just doesn’t work for my tastebuds – they’re deficient or something lol. doesn’t mean i don’t like the cup of tea..but for me this is more vanilla like than lemon.

Delicious. This one was a bit of a gamble. Some rooibos i like, others are that woody sort that just don’t do it for me. Not sure if i got apple caramel out of this one but i DID get delicious caramel yum. Curious about how this one would taste as a latte.

this was perfect today. Steeped for 5 mins with honey in it. i’m sick, so that might be why…but today this was perfection in a cup.

VariaTEA

I could see honey suiting this tea nicely. If only I read this before drinking the last of this tea.

Organised my cupboard today to get a handle on things – and pulled this one out to have again since i haven’t had it in ages. 119 teas, 7.8kg (17.2 pounds), and my oldest tea is from April. Not too bad.

This one is still enjoyable even in my inability to place what this tastes like haha

OMGsrsly

You could do some weight lifting with those teas. ;)

Need to see if i can find the ingredient list again for this one…long story short when i had this a couple days ago, it reminded me something fierce of another tea. I just can’t figure out what tea it is. Also, the flavouring was a little calm/wimpy for me, so we’ll see more when i can actually drink this and not wait a few days to review. sigh

Hm. A nice tea, but nothing terribly extra special about it. Not sure what the hubbub was about? Perhaps I steeped it incorrectly.

Having a cup before packing the itty bitty bit left up for Dinosara, and realizing I never drank this when it came – nor did I note who it came from! Argh. Likely OMGsrsly or Ysurella. Either way, thank you — I’m finding tons of great tea from the both of you now that I’m home!

Another gem from MissB! I’m skeptical of all these French teas, probably because going into it I haven’t a clue what’s in them… but so far, everything’s been tasting pretty great. With this tea, I correctly identified it as a rose/chocolate black, which tastes fairly good – add some bergamot and you’d have DT’s The Earl’s Valentine! (Not quite). Anyhow, I’m not overly fond of floral notes, but I’d happily drink it again. Which I will, because I only drank half my sample today.

ETA: Ok, I also taste the coconut, and I can be convinced that there’s marzipan flavouring in here, though it’s not overly strong (otherwise I’d find it very cloying). Pistachio though? Not so much.

Boiling 2 min, 0 sec

Marzipan. I get lots of marzipan. And a nutty liqueur. Plus a nice dose of coconut. It’s not what I expected but it’s tasty nonetheless. Thank you MissB!

Sipdown (176)

My intention was to make this as a teapop except when I started measuring the leaf, I only had 2 perfect teaspoons left so I made it iced instead.

The base is stronger than usual today. There is notes of melon but mostly it is a slightly bitter green.

Nonetheless, thank you Sil for the share.

Cold brewed this and it is very green today. I am missing the peach and melon that I could pick up on slightly in past cups. Today it is all base and a generic fruity essence. Pleasant enough, I suppose, but not really my thing.

Apparently I have had this before so that’s a thing. This time around, the awesome Sil shared some with me. I’m having it iced and it is really quite lovely. The peach is really prominent here and there is melon though there is also something a bit off about it all. My guess is maybe just older leaf or more of the base coming through. It’s still nice enough and I am grateful to Sil for the share. Thank you, Sil!

When I smelled this, I worried that the base might be overbearingly vegetal. Luckily that wasn’t the case. This was a light and fruity tea combining lovely cantaloupe flavor with a bit of peach brightness. I could see this being pleasant in the warmer months when do many black teas just seem too dense. All in all, it is one of the better greens I have tried and I am grateful to MissB and Sil for the chance to do so!

I decided that this, brewed hot, wasn’t really my favorite (something about the base) so I cold steeped the rest of my ounce. It was quite delicious that way. For the very end I had slightly less than needed for a cold brew, so I supplemented with some bonus caramel tea and a touch of Earl Grey. It was very tasty! Makes me think I should do caramel EG cold steeps just to see how come out.

Such a funny name for a tea. This one (#8) is the one THE-O-DOR tea on my list that I was actually able to get at a shop in Brussels; they hadn’t gotten a restock in a long time. I drank it once after I got back but made it too hot and it was bitter, and I never wrote a note for it. So this will actually be my first note!

The flavoring on this is lemon meringue pie. It is definitely reminicent in aroma of DF’s Noël à Venise, although the caramel notes in that one have been replaced here by a definite creamy meringue note. Brewed at these parameters I am not getting the bitterness (maybe a tiny hint), and instead it is lemony with a decidedly creamy meringue note. Overall, pretty tasty, although a little finnicky (and more bitterness is coming out as it cools, which is not really pleasant). I would still go for Noël à Venise over it any day.

195 °F / 90 °C 3 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML
Marzipan

Do you know of any place to find some information on what is actually in the The o Dor teas? Their website isn’t very informative.

Dinosara

If you go directly to the shop and bypass the main site (http://www.theodor.fr/shop/lang-en/5-flavoured-black-teas) you can click directly on the tea name and it will take you to a page with a flowery description, but it usually has the flavors in there somewhere.

Sil

you can also just search for flavours eg. caramel, toffee, chocolate
