I really like this one even though I don’t really get Rice Krispie Treat from it. I get more of a marshmallow black tea. It’s sweet and reminiscent of a Krispie Treat but without the Rice Krispies. I would buy more of this one! I re-steeped my cup of this one it was still really yummy if a little weaker in flavor.
Flavors: Marshmallow, Sweet

This was one of the competitors in my sipdown tournament and one of the things I noted is this could be good as a latte…so I’m trying it as a latte. At times it works and at other times it’s weird and sort of mud-like. Overall, I just haven’t been able to get this one to really work. I’ve drank it because it’s not bad but it’s just not for me.
Today’s battle pairs this against DAVIDsTEA’s Tie-Dye Butterfly and since I didn’t love this last time, I thought for sure it wouldn’t be much of a competitor. I decided to ice both since I once again forgot to cold brew them early enough and my first couple sips of this iced were surprisingly good. It highlights the sweet pear which is sort of tasting like the sour apple gummy rings – the green and white ones. The chocolate is weird here and it doesn’t scream cake but that was my issue with this last time as well. So it’s better than expected but still suffering from some flavour misses and that’s why Tie-Dye Butterfly is moving on. Today’s battle is between two chocolate-ish green teas (sorta): this tea and Mocha Matcha by DAVIDsTEA. Check out the tasting note for that tea here: https://steepster.com/rachel12610/posts/416153
I have actually not tried this tea yet so I was excited when I realized it was one of the random picks made by Roswell Strange.
In recent years, I have decided that even when I love a green tea, I don’t really reach for it often. When picking teas for myself, I usually go to my black tea drawer first or my caffeine free drawer if its late or I just don’t want caffeine. Due to that, I have stopped looking at the pages for green teas and white teas and oolongs on websites because I know its unlikely I would work my way through a lot. That said, sometimes flavor combinations catch my attention enough that I decide to take a chance on a tea despite the base and that’s what happened here. Weird that it did too because I am also hesitant with both chocolate and pear teas since both are difficult to get right in tea. Not sure what happened here but I ended up with 2 oz of this tea regardless.
On first sip am I happy I have 2 ozs? I am not sure. It actually nails pear. Sweet but subtle pear which is pretty true to the fruit. However, with the pear is a weird sort of top note and a touch of cocoa underneath – cocoa, not chocolate. The top note is sort of this artificial/chemical sort of twang. I am not quite sure how to describe it. I don’t love it but the pear is nice enough that I am powering through the mug. Also, I don’t know if anything screams cake to me or if its just sort of sweet pear and some chocolate.
I like mocha matcha as a latte and I am wondering if I should have made both these teas as a latte. Instead I made both plain because I thought that would make for a better comparison – win or lose though, I am interested in trying this as a latte since that might help with the twang…or it could drown out the pear. We shall see…
With all of that said, as a plain tea, this one just squeaked ahead slightly.

This sample came from AmandaStory and I really appreciate getting the chance to try this company.
Steeped this one so I’d have something to drink while making banana bread.
It really does taste like cotton candy and I much prefer this one to the DT Cotton Candy blend. I drank this hot but I bet it would have been even better cold.

I’ve been drinking it but haven’t written a note up until now.
This particular cup doesn’t really remind me of gingerbread or creme brulee but cola instead. It reminds me of cola drinking this one plain and lukewarm. It’s pretty yummy and sweet just on it’s own.

Iced Latte Sipdown (207)
When I went downstairs today, I really wanted to order Starbucks for my iced chai latte with cold foam. Then I remembered I decided to do another battle in my mini tournament and started posting about it. Also, I could make an iced latte and save the money. So I made the tournament teas. Then I got distracted by life. It was 10 something by the time I decided to make the latte. Then I got distracted again and am only drinking it now.
I grabbed this tea because when I opened the drawer, it was the one in a ziploc bag (the seal broke) and that caught my eye. I figured it would work as an iced latte but remember this always being a bit thin flavourwise so I decided to give it a boost with a touch of brown sugar cinnamon syrup. It definitely helped a great deal. Gave it a lot more oomph behind the flavouring. That said, this makes me think of DAVIDsTEA’s Pumpkin Chai, as opposed to pumpkin or snickerdoodle. It had such potential but never quite lived up to it.

I like this one! I remember buying the DavidsTea Peanut Butter Cup tea years ago and being a little disappointed. That one was nuttier even with sweetener added. This one actually is sweet enough and dessert-like on its own that it does remind me of a peanut butter cup with or without milk. I am currently out of tea compatible milk so this particular cup I am drinking plain. The apple in this tea works really well.
Flavors: Apple, Nutty, Sweet
Preparation
This tea was nice and dessert-like between the genmaicha and the hint of marshmallow sweetness it does remind me of a rice krispie treat. Necessiteas seems to do a good job with their marshmallow blends as I really enjoyed the black tea version as well. This was the last of the samples AmandaStory kindly sent me to try. Thanks again!
