I have had my tea glass for probably 6yeas or longer now and I love it! When I first got my glass I remember I took it outside in -30 weather and it broke which I thought was odd cuz it’s such a high rated glass. right away libra sent me anew one and apologized for the other one breaking great custom service!
This little tea thermos is great when it is beastly cold…I work in a 100-year-old building with wonky heat, and it does a very good insulative job. Of course, the plus is the screw-in strainer in the lid, so you can start with the good stuff in the a.m. and get reruns later in the day :)
After a few months of use, my only critique is that the round rubber seal around the lid sometimes comes out when I wash it (due to the strength of the vacuum seal) and I have to poke it back into its groove. Small price to pay for good warm tea all day.
Belated and unexpected birthday surprise from a dear friend! (We used to honor the “two weeks either way and it still counts” rule; now it’s been extended to six months either way. Sometimes Christmas packages get mailed in September.)
Physical properties: Normally, I steep my go-to-work tea in a Tervis tumbler, and leave the leaves at home. But this ToasTEA thing is the bees’ knees, in that it has a steeping basket that screws into the lid. Since the tumbler is tall, you aren’t stewing your brew, and there’s a sipping filter that keeps you from swallowing leaves and allows you to re-steep at will. Add new hot water, flip it upside down, and there you go.
Thermal properties: I’ve been sipping at mine for an hour and a half, and it’s still fresh-cup warm.
Visibility properties: The flippy push-button lid, helpful for maintaining the thermal properties described above, gets in the way a bit when I’m driving. Guess I’ll have to take the route that has more stoplights.
If you like Ice tea, this is the best tea related purchase you will ever make.
This thing is so easy to use, it makes perfect tea every time, it’s fast and easy to clean up.
Where I live, you can buy cups of ice from a convenience store, and make ice tea on the go.
I would have given it a perfect 100, but the lid is a flip top, and is not very secure, so it will likely leaky if sideways.
I am in love with this tumbler! It was exactly what I needed to add to my day away from home. It is quick and easy to use and steeps while I prepare lunches and bags for school. It makes the perfect amount of ice tea to get me through the afternoon and has helped reduce the amount of pops I am drinking (I know terrible habit – now being replaced by a better habit lol).
It is easy to use and doesn’t over steep the tea, but it can be a little tricky to take apart at times. I have started giving this as a gift to my fellow tea drinkers along with gift cards to buy their own leaf tea (saving the world one canned ice tea at a time).
Preparation
I bought this tea press for my oldest daughter so she could have ice tea at school (she doesn’t drink enough lol). She loves mandalas so this was the perfect gift for her after helping out with her younger siblings. She will use it, but only if mom makes the ice tea for her, otherwise she claims she has no time.
Preparation
I was given the glass nordic mug for Christmas and really didn’t think much of it or the boxed tea that came with. I even tried to re-gift it to my oldest daughter stating that I already had a steeper (which makes 100 cups lol) that I did not need an individual cup to do the same job.
Fast forward a year and here I am using this cup every morning to help start my day. My kids love to gather around the table as we eat breakfast together to watch the colour change as the tea steeps; they will also ask to smell it 101 times.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for the perfect cup of steeped tea!
Preparation
A lovely idea but the execution leaves something to be desired. Firstly, I am very particular about plastic and other chemicals getting into my tea and foods and what drew me to to this item at first was the glass interior. There is plastic in the construction of the lid and middle layer but at the time of my purchase these elements were made of polypropylene, which I deemed acceptable as it is one of the safer plastics. When cracks started forming in my first Libretea however, the company sent me a replacement with a changed design. During the intervening time, they had switched from using polypropylene to tritan, a plastic that is advertised as “BPA free” but which studies have shown to contain other chemicals with estrogenic effects similar to BPA. Don’t trust the “BPA free” buzzword, there are plenty of other chemicals in plastic that can cause harm, in many cases you are simply trading BPA for a different poison.
Secondly, as I mentioned before the first item I recieved developed some problems after use, with small cracks/lines appearing on the plastic side near the border between the plastic and glass. I have not used the replacement I was given since learning the plastic has been replaced by tritan so I do not know if this problem still persists.
Lastly, while the turn upside-down to steep idea is a good one, the steeping chamber itself is on the small side compared to the size of the thermos itself, making it difficult for some teas to expand. If you are dead-set on the idea of turning your travel mug upside down to steep, I would instead suggest one of the double-tiered glass travel mugs from china that one can find on ali-express. The steeping chambers for said items are made from plastic, but that too is the case with this product as well.
I’ve heard a lot of people have had leak issues with the Libre glass bottles, but I’ve been really fortunate that my bottle was not one of them. I actually really like my Libre and find it to be a very handy travel tumbler for tea. First – I LOVE that its glass. I like how you can see your leaves floating around while steeping, especially if you’re brewing something that’s floral and colorful. Second – because its glass I like that it doesn’t keep my tea piping hot for too long. I use stainless steel tumblers as well and they’re great, but the stainless steel keeps my tea incredibly hot for a very long time. I like the Libre glass tumbler because it still keeps my tea hot, but for not as long which is perfect for shorter trips or commutes.
I also like to use my Libre for fruit water when I’m not using it for tea. It is double walled with the inside being made with glass, so a nice glass of cold water with some fruit thrown in makes for a refreshing drink on a summer day.
The Libre gets two thumbs up from me. I’ve reviewed it in more detail which you can check out on my blog at http://worldofteainfusers.com/libre-glass-tea-infuser-review/
This has become my go to workplace infuser. I picked it up by chance at a Thrift shop (brand new) and it’s very convenient. Control of steep time is exact and watching the leaves unfurl is very pleasant. I’m able to store leaves overnight and able to brew multiple steeps at a time. Clean up is simple.
At this point I see no problem with construction. Everything fits neatly together and feels substantial. BPA free plastic does not retain odor, or stain and does not leech toxins.
Very pleased with this accidental teaware find!
I swear, every time I pour tea in this mug, I immediately make the tardis noises as the tardis miraculously disappears from the streets of london to reappear in the depths of the time vortex. Any whovian would be thrilled to receive this mug as a gift.
I wanted to review this again now that have used it some more.
First of all, people who see it think it is so cool and so much fun. It is! I guess we are easily entertained!
My son’s girlfriend wanted to know where to get one the very first night she saw me using it. A week later my son-in-law wanted to know why the tea wasn’t going all the way down, and said “Coooooooooool!” when I pressed the button.
I used it with my best friend before giving her one for Christmas. She sent me a message that night saying that even though we had a TON of tea already that night, she was using her new pot to make more tea. She told me today that she has used it every single day since getting it.
We used it tonight to make two liters of Puerh while watching old movies. It is clean, convenient, easy, and fun. I am not seeing any staining yet and it is easy to clean. I rinse the basket with the button up, then with the button down, then turn it upside down and press the button to get the last of the water out of the strainer.
This will be going on vacation with me from now on. If anything ever happens to it, I would buy another right away.
I have a small one of these in my desk at work. At lunch time I bring it out & treat myself to a gongfu session with whatever tea I brought that day. It’s the highlight of my school day :)
Is this what you’re referring to?

I think this is the one I have, it’s pretty small, but I like it :)

And no one’s had any problems with them breaking? I’ve had 3 from different companies now, and each of them have shattered when I’ve been making tea. :/ IDK what I’m doing wrong if no one else has had this problem!
Sil: I bought this one- http://www.teavivre.com/manually-blow-molded-glass-infuser-tea-cup/
Terri: that looks like mine, but mine is the 500 mL. It is fun and easy, isn’t it? I bought one for a friend who is a teacher because I thought it would be easy for her to use at school. I am loving mine! Plan to use it tonight!
OMG: I have only had mine for a week or so, but no problems so far. I have a glass gong fu pot and double wall glass cups and all have held up so far. Someone gave me a cheap glass gift set of a pot, glass infuser, and flowering teas. The infuser shattered right away, but the set was not borosilicate glass. I think it really matters to have borosilicate glass, but having said that, K S had one shatter on him when it struck a faucet just so. My borosilicate French press held up but I gave it to my daughter long ago and she hardly ever uses it.
I have a french press and the wee davidstea pot and double walled mugs. No problems with those! Maybe I need to find a more reliable brand of these things. :) I really liked how easy it was, and it was fun to use the jug by itself for the occasional flowering tea.
If yours was a Kamjove, maybe you could try Piao I? Has more than one Kamjove broken on you? Is it possible it was too cold when hot water was poured in, or did it break because it hit something? I hope these will last!
I have a feeling they were off-brands. One had a fault in the glass, and two just shattered when I drained the tea. I had started pre-heating, too! I should look for a better quality one. :)
I bought this from Teavivre and got an extra one for a friend for Christmas. I was torn about what size to buy, as different websites show the larger pot having different shapes. There were two reasons I bought the middle size instead of the large. First of all, the large one at Teavivre has a long spout instead of the cute little pouring lip, and I didn’t want to risk that since it was glass. Also, hubby pointed out that the infuser cup part appeared to be the same size no matter what size your pitcher is, so I might as well buy this since I will need the same number of steeps. Mandala sells these as well, so perhaps if Garrett sees this note he can clear that up for us. Other sites show the large pot having the small lip, but I don’t know if the photo is accurate. One site indicated that the infuser is larger for the larger pots, and the number of ounces they list isn’t the same even when the pictures appear to match. This made it harder to choose where to order from and what size!
I used it for my puerh sample tonight and it was wonderful. I made one steep and immediately refilled the infuser section. The second steep comes to the bottom of the infuser, so if you don’t start pouring right away your tea could oversteep and become bitter. As it was, we were pouring pretty quickly and made a total of two liters of tea with our sample and had no trouble. Two steeps at a time were being mixed together.
Why did I want this with all the pots I already own? I don’t like the morning multi-tasking and delays. I make the dog an omelette and then start my omelette, toast, and tea. When the food is ready, I am still in the kitchen waiting for the timer to go off and I don’t want to carry the pot to the dining table and have to take a bowl or dish to put the infuser basket in while listening for the time, which I will have to get up to turn off anyway. Call me OCD but I don’t want a messy bowl of leaves on the table if I can help it. I wanted a pot I could carry with me before the leaves are done steeping and then have it mess free. See? Lazy!
The most I can see making easily with this size pot is about 14 ounces. Otherwise your leaves are in the water. Of course, you could remove the infuser, but my whole point was that I wanted to be able to make and drink tea with moving the leaves and making a drippy mess and I didn’t want to have to get up from the table. This is my lazy pot! But it will also save money because it is going to be super easy to make tea for one by resteeping a single teaspoon of leaf. One could also easily make a tea concentrate with this and add water to dilute if you wanted larger amounts at a time.
The bottom line is that it is going to do exactly what I wanted it to do. It was easy to use, it is really cool to watch, and my son’s girlfriend immediately wanted to know where I got it because she wants one. There was no mess from dripping or leaves.
A few reviews here and there said that in time the infuser cup gets dirty and stained. One person remarked in the comments that they use a denture cleaning tablet to clean the infuser portion. I will give that a try if I have a problem with unsightly staining in the future.
I am pretty excited about using this. I think it has solved my morning breakfast conundrum.
I’ve used denture tablets before, with some improvement afterward, but usually, I let my baskets get so scaly before I tend to them, they’re pretty hopeless to begin with. (Creative minds are rarely tidy. I read that quote on the Internet so it must be true :)
Were you cleaning a plastic basket like this one or a stainless steel one? I wonder if that tea stain remover Mandala sells could be used on this. So far I have no staying or gunk and we have made three liters of puerh and a few batches of oolong. The stains wouldn’t freak me out, though. It’s only tea!
I liked my first Kati system thing….whatever it is….so much that I decided to buy another. See, the first one was supposed to live at work, but I liked it too much so I ended up carrying it back and forth every day. Anyway, I ordered the “poppy fields” one this time (the one with the red and orange flowers). I thought the background was going to be purple, but it was brown. A tiny bit of a bummer, but nbd. Unfortunately, it also arrived with a chip in the rim. I was extremely (pleasantly) surprised when I called customer service and they sent another one to me right away, no questions asked. I didn’t even have to send the damaged one back. Huge props to Tea Forte for that!
That is great customer service! I have looked at some of their mugs, but looked at Davids Perfect Mugs too.. not sure what I want next. The poppy fields one was one that I had my eye on, red is a favorite color of mine :)
I didn’t realize the background was brown. Don’t they have one with a white background? Oh, maybe that was cherry blossoms.
I’ve been admiring Kati cups for awhile. They are so beautiful, & it’s awesome to hear that they have excellent customer service!
I’ve been looking at this as well, but I worry the little infuser basket is too small. It seems small in the pictures I’ve seen, anyway. How’s the actual size?
Yep, Suziqzer, the cherry blossoms one has a white background.
Cheri, the inner diameter of the basket is about 7cm or 2.75in and the depth at the center point (it’s rounded) is about 3.5cm or 1.38in. The measurements are approximate but should give you an idea of how big it is. If you’re worried that the infuser wouldn’t reach deep enough into the mug, there’s an inner rim aprroximately 1cm down from the top of the mug where the infuser basket sits.
Love this! I have the 9 oz and 14 oz sizes. These glasses are so beautiful! I’m really happy with mine. These can be used as shown in the company video to make tea two ways, but I have a couple other suggestions.
First: I use this to brew tea at work. I like letting the leaves float around in the glass, then pouring the tea into a mug. I get the lovely floating leaf aesthetic, but without the leaves sitting in water for too long. It’s easy to re-steep this way, too.
Second (and best): Cold Brew. Some teas are amazing if you put the leaves in your libre glass with cool water, then put in the fridge overnight. In the AM, you have a lovely cold tea with low bitterness. Note – This does take a little experimentation. I find most black and white teas to be good like this, but sometimes greens taste odd. Also, sometimes you need to use a little extra tea. The cold brew method produces a mild tea and I just drink it through the strainer with the leaves in the glass. Yummy and pretty!
Libre tea customer service is great. My smaller glass was getting condensation inside the hologram. I emailed and a replacement was promptly sent. All is well now!!!
