It tastes medicinal, and not in any good way. —It tastes like I’m drinking my grandmother’s Tiger Balm. It has a plastic-like menthol aroma and flavor. The aftertaste reminds me of Vapor Rub, if I mixed it with hot water and sipped it from a teacup.
Flavors: Medicinal, Menthol, Olive Oil, Orange Zest
Preparation
TeaForte and I may have slightly different interpretations of how much tea is in a “single steep” – I didn’t think to measure this before dumping it in my infuser, so I was then scraping it out to get an idea of the quantity.
Suffice to say, even with dropping the steep time to 2 min there’s still quite a bitter overtone. I’m definitely picking up the nougat and alcohol (?) notes, but it’s somewhat lacking in the caramel I’d hoped for. Very tannic, dark and rich, but just not a flavour profile I find particularly enjoyable.
Preparation
Wow, this was a whole lotta nothing. I know I like stronger tea than many, so I made sure I didn’t brew this “single steeps” packet with more than 5 oz of water. It basically tasted like lightly astringent water.
Apparently this is only available in some Tea Forte collections – I don’t know if it used to be available in larger amounts or not. At first I wasn’t impressed, as it’s pretty weakly flavored compared to its overwhelming strawberry fragrance. But as I sipped, it really grew on me and I get the apple and strawberry very strongly, with just enough lemon to cut through the sweetness. There’s something very cozy and comforting about this, and I wouldn’t mind having a small bag for those times this would fit the bill. However, since I’m generally underwhelmed by Tea Forte, it’s unlikely I’ll be buying a collection just to get one or two cups of this. :(
Flavors: Apple, Lemon, Strawberry
Preparation
It has the scent of orange but no real taste of it. Otherwise, a standard mediocre jasmine green. I don’t dislike it, but it’s neither particularly high quality nor particularly tasty. (Those aren’t always the same things to me, lol!)
Flavors: Jasmine
Preparation
The most common problem with fruit green teas is the green tea easily and quickly overpowers the fruit that its with. That is unfortunately the case for this tea as well. The mango and peach don’t really stand out although the flavors are there. It wasn’t my favorite tea but it’s not horrible tea. It’s a nice bright tea that give you a boost but if you’re looking to buy and amazing fruit green tea this is not it.
Flavors: Bitter, Lemongrass, Mango, Peach
Preparation
This tea gets really strong very fast. The pieces are really small so you can add too much tea very easily. However if you get the amount right this tea is very bright and very sweet. It creates a wonderful bright red tea and I usuall cut it with a white tea as it can be a bit over powering. This tea is one of my favorite hibiscus flavor no doubt.
Flavors: Berry, Cranberry, Hibiscus, Spices
Preparation
This is your basic mint tea. Not too fancy and not too boring. It doesn’t fall short as a mint tea but it falls short as a TeaForte tea in my opinion. I was expecting more body and more flavor but there’s not much room for change with tea. You don’t get a richer flavor the longer you steep it. What you get is what you get. It also doesn’t blend well with any other tea.
Flavors: Mint, Spearmint
Preparation
Darjeeling teas are my father’s favorit teas. He usually prefer the western flavors like this. I decided to try this as luckily it came in yet another tasting set and had some free time over the break. I don’t like the black tea this is made with. It’s very bitter and has almost a metallic after taste. I’m also not a big fan of the floral notes in these tea I feel like I’m drowning in flowers.
Flavors: Floral
Preparation
This is such a bright and fun tea. The black tea keeps it’s warmth but the orange flavor really brightens your mood. I drink this tea as a mid afternoon pick me up for a bit of caffeine and motivation to continue with my work. I pair this tea with light buttered pastries and the natural sweetness and citrus flavor cuts the heavy flavor of my treats.
Flavors: Citrus, Orange, Orange Zest, Spices
Preparation
Since I’ve bought this tea its become my nightly ritual. It has a nice calming chamomile flavor and the citron is bright enough to lighten your mood. I always cut this with my white tea as the tea itself has no actual tea leaves and lack body but all in all the flavor is addicting. It turns a beautiful pink color because of the buds and it’s fruit but not overpowering. This tea works well unsweeted and with honey which means my whole family can enjoy it.
Flavors: Citrus, Honey, Sweet
Preparation
I tried this tea because it came with a tea taster package. However I knew before that I’m not a big fan of jasmine flavor and despite my love for TeaForte’s teas this one didn’t make me like it any better. The green tea flavor was nice nutty and rich and the jasmine tasted like jasmine. This isn’t my cup of tea however the tea it self was very good quality and my mother loves it.
Flavors: Green, Jasmine, Nutty
Preparation
I don’t want to say I don’t like Earl Grey tea because there’s so many different brands I have yet to try but this is the 4th one or so I’ve tried and I still don’t like Earl Grey tea. The black tea is so very bitter and has a weird after taste that I just can’t wrap my head around. I gave the cup I made to my father and he loved it so I’ll give this good ratings. But I’m definitely not an earl grey fan.
Flavors: Lemon
Preparation
I love how smooth and soothing this tea is. I got it in a tasting trio and now I’m almost out. It doesn’t take much for an 8 ounce cup. This tea works really well with honey and cuts the weird aftertaste I usually hate with honey. The only problem is the tea is kind of light. There isn’t actually any teal leaves in the tea so I cut it with my own white tea to give it some body.
Flavors: Ginger, Lemongrass, Mint
Preparation
This tea was interesting. The ginger taste was really strong, but thankfully I like ginger so it was enjoyable for me. I can see why some people do not like this tea, however. My mom tried it and she was not a fan. The lemongrass added a minty taste to the tea.
Flavors: Ginger, Lemongrass
