I really need to go to bed early tonight… I actually fell asleep in yoga tonight :\ So I pulled out a couple herbal teabags and re-steeped my Creme Brulee from last night. Funnily enough, I pulled out two teabags of similar blends from different companies, so I get to do a bit of a comparison.

This one is courtesy of LiberTEAS – thank you!

Steeped, it smells quite delicious and berry-like! I’m pleasantly surprised! Since I left the teabag in for eons, the hibiscus is definitely present, but I like it. The berry flavour is quite apparent and the hibiscus is providing tartness but at a completely acceptable level. The strangest thing is the sweetness I’m getting, which makes me think licorice as it’s late-sip, but I don’t think it is. Maybe there’s stevia or something in here, though? The aftertaste kind of makes it taste like a fakey candy, whereas initially it’s an authentic berry flavour.

Really quite a good bagged tisane with pretty good use of hibiscus. Were it not for the strange sweetness, I’d probably look into picking some of this up to ice it.

Looks like we were both zonked! did you sleep during Savasannah?

Kittenna

Yes, yes I did. I was lying there, thinking that I was clearing my mind pretty well, and the next thing I knew, I regained consciousness and everyone was sitting up. Granted, eyes still closed, but still. I must have been out for at least a minute – completely missed the instruction to roll onto my side, etc. Embarrassing…

I really had to try hard to keep my promise and try this tea – no matter how long I have been putting off for! Many of you know I’m not usually fond of Hibiscus tisanes.

I was wondering if this would be a better tye-dye shirt than a tisane…but…

This isn’t as TART as I anticipated, actually! It’s still not my fave – but I have to give credit where credit is due…it’s not as bad as I anticipated either.

It’s better if gulped – or iced. I just can’t slowly sip the stuff! LOL

It took me a long time to finally get around to trying this. I tend to get really scared of tisanes named HIBISCUS. But, this one surprised me. Yes, I can taste the hibiscus, but if you do not oversteep it it doesn’t get out-of-control, too thick or too sour. I do recommend some sweetener in it though to soften the tartness a bit.

With a little pinch of sugar, the berry flavors emerge as does the citrus. The hibiscus is there too but it tastes alright. Not my favorite from Tea Forte but I don’t hate it the way I thought I would.

This was so so as a tea and def disappointing as a tea forte product. The 2nd steep was non existant. I have tried many teas with Hibiscus and this was by far the lamest. I was looking for something to help with my cramps because hibiscus does that naturally and this was so weak it just turned by tongue pink! Pretty color in the cup but that is a given when you use dark coloured flowers. Thank goodness I got this as a gift and I didn’t waste my money.

This tea gets really strong very fast. The pieces are really small so you can add too much tea very easily. However if you get the amount right this tea is very bright and very sweet. It creates a wonderful bright red tea and I usuall cut it with a white tea as it can be a bit over powering. This tea is one of my favorite hibiscus flavor no doubt.

I have been trying to drink more herbal blends and lessen my caffeine intake. This tea was an attempt to do that. I will cut to the chase, it didn’t work. I will say that I did taste berry and citrus notes in this. As for hibiscus, when brewed I could smell it, and I guess now I can say I tasted it because I can’t say I had hibiscus flavor before this. So, I thought, what can I do with this tea to improve it. Well after a trip to Teavana not so long ago, I realized how much they blend different teas together. I thought, I could do that at home. So, I took this tea bag and added it to a batch of green tea I was brewing. Low and behold, it helped me enjoy both teas more. I have sinced continued to mix teas together, so I learned something from all this. In short however, I am not a big wild berry hisiscus fan.

Sweet & tart to the same measure as rhubarb pie. Like having a morbidly obese Hawaiian man strum you a lovely serenade as gaggles of awful tourists caw on the beach around you. I hope they frickin’ choke on the pig at the luau tonight.
