This tea smells great. As soon as the hot water hit the tea, I could immediately smell it from a few feet away.

I had two cups of this (I tend to make at least two cups at a time whenever I make tea).

With the first, I was actually eating some indian food (Chicken Tika Masala and Whole Wheat Naan). The spices seem to overpower the actual black tea. Very distinctive cinnamon taste. Can’t say I know what cardamon tastes like, so I don’t know how much of a presence it made.

I also tried it with milk (fat free though, since that is all I have at the moment). Seemed to smooth the flavor a bit, although regular milk may work better. I don’t usually put milk in my tea though, so I don’t know if that is the case.

One thing I noticed, is that the flavor seemed to dull as the tea cooled off.

Pretty good for when I want some black tea, but don’t quite want it to taste like a black tea.

Good taste, but nasty aftertaste. I’m gonna have to make another cup to make sure I didn’t oversteep.

I made this by cold brewing it! Tastes delicious iced, especially on a warm day. The scent is light, but I can still smell the apricot.

I had this with milk this morning. Since I’ve pretty much already said all that there is to say about this tea, you can go back and read my past tasting notes.

It’s been awhile since I had this. Its canister seems better at staying full than say Thai Chai for some reason… ;)

I do wonder why =P

I take it this is not Earl Grey Bravo but Earl Grey Yukko. I’ve never had it, so I’m tasting vicariously through you two.

Jillian

My boyfriend certainly thinks so! Me, I don’t mind it, but it’s a bit too heavy on the bergamot for me.

I normally drink this tea with milk, but with my cold I figured it might be best to skip that, so I just drank it plain with a teaspoon of honey. Even after a relatively short steeping time and added sweetener it has a pretty astringent bite to it that left a bit of a dry taste in my mouth, so I can see why many people don’t like this tea.

Yeah I’m not too big on Earl Grey myself…there’s sooo many other great options. I think I just really dislike bergamot and the astringency…

Urgh, it’s too early and the boyfriend is being pesky. Hopefully this tea will make me feel a bit more lively.

I cut the steeping time back a bit from normal and that seems to have reduced the pungency of the bergamot.

I have found that to be true as well!

Jillian

Yeah the bergamot can sometimes be a bit much at the full 5 minutes.

I think I was right when I said earlier that this tea is like a high-quality version of Twining’s Lady Grey. I think it’s a bit too harsh and astringent plain but when I add milk or honey (like I did this time) it takes the sharp edge off of it.

In case you hadn’t guessed I stayed up all night studying for a midterm. Guh. At least this tea is helping me perk up a little bit.

I feel your pain.

Side note: ever played this? [I will forwarn you, it’s extremely addictive. Might want to put it off until after midterms.] http://www.popcap.com/games/pvz/

Skim milk does take the bitter edge off of this tea without masking the citrus flavours.

Scrumptiously citrusy with some floral notes, just how I like my earl grey. The tea was surprisingly bold; I think it might be a bit better with some milk to take the edge off the tannins, but even without it was still a lovely pick-me-up this morning.

This almost tastes like chai instead of a green tea. It’s delicious! Definitely one of my favorites.

Steeped this one for about 10 minutes and then let it cool before drinking, and it came out really smooth. The smoky flavor was downplayed, and it came out with a nice, rich black tea taste.

Loved it! Earthy, with a hint of chocolate taste at the end. It was also fun to watch the pearls unfold (I used 4 for a good-sized mug of tea).
