Smells like toasted coconut before you steep it. Delicious fresh coconut flavor when you sip it. Not my favorite coconut oolong, but still tasty. Theres a note that I can’t place. I called it vegetal, but that may not be right.
Flavors: Coconut, Tropical, Vegetal
Preparation
Drank too much pomegranate wine last night with a friend…in need of both hydration and caffeine to battle the headache. And possibly going back to bed.
This is light and unassuming. When I sniffed it in the tin, it smells SO sweet. I am a bit disappointed that it doesn’t brew up that way, but it is still sweet enough to taste good. It tastes very green, and looks very light colored, as many others have noted. Overall, this is solid, and I will enjoy drinking it.

Thanks again for the lovely package, Beorhthraefn! The leaves here kind of look like the yellow tea I had the other day, a dusty tan color, though the leaves here have hints of pink? Never seen that before. The leaf shape looks in between sencha or silver needle. I was reading tasting notes that said this one didn’t have much flavor, so I used two teaspoons. The flavor is pretty mild – tastes like the lightest white tea and there isn’t really any comparisons to make to actual flavor notes. Trying to get more out of the leaves the second time, the temp was too hot and the time was too long, because I just ended up with a cup of bitter. Oh well. I always love the black teas from Adagio anyway!
Steep #1 // 30 min after boiling // 1 1/2 min steep
Steep #2 // 20 min a.b. // 2-3 min

I liked the cute little white tin this comes in. When I checked out the reviews before having it I cringed a bit and wondered if I really wanted to try it. Fishy? Crab? Didn’t sound good. I just brewed it up like most of my green teas – 1 tsp – 8 oz- 185F- 1 1/2 min.
I was surprised it was pretty good. Nope , no fishy taste. Maybe it was all in the brewing? Or maybe a different batch? I don’t know. It was smooth, sweet and a pleasant green tea. No bitterness or astringency.
I got two packages today! One from a Teavana sale, and the other from Adagio. I did not expect to get both, but the timing is very appreciated, since I am leaving to visit my parents later today.
I’ve been really craving oolongs recently, and I thought I would try this as a lower expense tea I could drink often and still get a few steepings out of. I brewed it in one of Adagio’s steeper mugs that I picked up, because I had the points to get half off and I wanted a 12 oz mug for when I brewed teas I could resteep.
Okay, so this tea. I prefer more roasted oolongs, but this is nice. It’s not much else than nice, though. The oolong base is light and floral. It is pleasant enough, but I feel like the coconut flavor overpowers the base. I lose any sort of complexity that might exist within the oolong base. I find the coconut to have more of a roasted flavor, and I feel like it would be more suited for a less floral base. I wish I had bought the unflavored version of this tea to compare the two.
However, my cup of tea is more than enjoyable. It is a light tea, but it has some body, the kind of light but not too light profile I like in oolongs. I’m glad I bought it. When I resteep this cup and also when I drink this more often, I’ll have a more telling opinion. I don’t know if I would actually repurchase this right now, even though I like it.

It’s been a good while since I’ve reviewed anything so I thought now would be a good time. The weather is getting colder and it’s the perfect time for a good cup of tea. This is the first winter me and Makayla get to spend together!! With the holidays coming up it certainly puts me in a good mood.
Makayla bought this tea here while back and this is our first time drinking it. It has a unique smell too it, slightly offensive at first but after a couple whiffs not so bad. The taste is crisp with a dry after note. Yet underneath all there’s a sweetness I cant quite put my finger on. It’s an interesting blend I must say I neither overly love it or hate it. It’s something I would grab on occasion and enjoy.
Preparation
I suspect I may have oversteeped this tea; it was a bit astringent and bitter for my taste. Not a bad tea – I think perhaps the first African tea I’ve ever tried – but it didn’t blow me away. Held up well with milk; toasted, malty overtone.
Flavors: Black Currant, Caramel, Dried Fruit, Malt, Toast
Preparation
This is a very interesting black tea, which is stronger than what I normally drink but not overwhelmingly astringent. This one has more of a malty and fuller taste to it which sort of reminds me of a Yunnan black tea. If you are one that generally goes for almost exclusively Chinese black teas, I would recommend trying a sample of this tea. I haven’t made up my mind about if I like it enough to order it again but it has demonstrated to me that not all African back teas are too bitter for me to handle.

Sipdown!
(as predicted)
Got through the .4oz pouch fairly quickly. It’s good but I’m not sure it’s on my “to buy” list as some coconut oolongs are just so creamy and almost syrupy. This one is nice but it doesn’t have quite the same luxurious mouth-feel. So I dunno. Good, but not the best.
I actually really like this one. For an Adagio tea, it’s really quite nice. It’s a greener oolong so I almost automatically like it. Does well in the office. I have to add sweetener and it doesn’t quite have the syrupy texture of some ofthe other coconut oolongs, but it’s not bad by any means. If I needed to pick up some cconut oolong on “the cheap”, I certainly would consider this one. I only bought a sample so a sipdown should be coming shortly.
This is a very crisp and mellow white tea. A first it tasted a bit dry compared, to some of the other white tea I have tried. After a while though I realized it was just very subtle in it’s taste. Nonetheless it’s very good and quite refreshing. It’s scent has a nice appealing aroma once it is brewed. It’s a nice relaxing tea I might add, it helped me unwind after a long week at work.
Preparation
This tea is a great “Intro to Keemun 101” tea. All of the keemun notes are there: the smokiness, the earthiness, the touch of fruit (plum) and mushroom….. there are no extraordinary notes in this tea…but it is a textbook example of what should be found in a keemun, so there is good knowledge in this tea. For a beginner flight, this tea would be perfect. The smoke is subtle, which is very pleasing to my palate (I’ve been through too many wildfires, so smokiness doesn’t mean “relax” to me…it means “run!”) the plum is pronounced enough so that a beginner could be able to start picking out fruity notes in other teas. Overall, this is a nice introductory keemun that I wouldn’t turn away.
Flavors: Earth, Mushrooms, Plum, Smoke
Preparation
Decided that it was probably best to squeeze in a few of the caffeine teas from the other TTB before it gets too late and the caffeine keeps me up all night… then I’d be up all night tasting teas :P tehehe.
Small Big Traveling Tea Box
This tea is different than what I was expecting. The name leads me to believe that it would have banana and guava in it. But to no avail. Luckily it does have some fruity notes, a bit mango-y to me. Actually, this reminds me of a black tea version of their green mango tea. Hmm. I’ll have to add some to the box so people can try both of these.. :]
Preparation
People who like really boldly flavored black teas will probably like this. It is malty and rich, and a bit astringent. I am not the biggest fan of astringency, so it isn’t really for me.
Recommended for those who like heavy, bold blacks.
Preparation
Samples Only TTB
I think I should have steeped this a little longer, because it’s a little watered down tasting when Iced. I get fruity, but I couldn’t tell you what kind of fruit it is. Not bad, but it’s hard to judge because it became to watered down when iced.
Preparation
Glad I’m not the only one! I thought that maybe I had had too many fruity teas in a row and that it was interfering because it was just there, nothing really remarkable about it, haha.
Guanabana has always been a particular favorite of mine. I especially love blending it with jasmine, strawberry, and coconut teas as it has a sweetness to it very similar to lychee in my opinion. I mostly enjoy it hot, but I have found that it’s very good cold as well.
Flavors: Lychee, Strawberry, Sweet
