I want to THANK SoccerMom for this sample! :)

Now that I have had one positive matcha experience I want to have more. I like Strawberries and some of the reviews on this flavored matcha got me wondering…

First, I have to say this smells AWESOME!!!! Reminds me of Strawberry Cheesecake!

The color is a brownish-green and VERY murky (but then again it’s a matcha!) I will saw that it dissolves VERY quickly!

The actual taste of this is good. But I can’t say I like it better than my Den’s Matcha Experience…that still takes first! BUT…I will say that I would drink this again! So…all and all…it’s pretty good.

Cofftea

There’s no way you can compare this to Den’s cuz it’s flavored. Now Lupicia’s maybe. Strawberry cheesecake? Hm. I haven’t gotten that. But yeah, both of 52teas’ matchas disolve w/ almost no whisking. and it’s a more frothy texture.

drank Lemon Drop Cooler by 52teas
267 tasting notes

I loooooooove lemons, so I rushed to buy this one! I’m hiding indoors where it’s air conditioned today too, so I’m trying this one hot for my first cup. It’s got a very pleasant, tart, lemony taste that reminds me of some of the lemon cream or lemon chiffon blends out there. It’s much more mild than the typical black tea with lemon types on the market, and so far, I’m really enjoying it. I don’t know that I’d be able to identify most of the lemon notes in here, as to my palette it basically just becomes ‘good lemon’, but I’ll bet this one really will make a stellar iced tea. If you’re shopping iced tea-fodder for the hot weather, and don’t stubbornly hide indoors as I do, check this one out.

drank Coconut Cream Pie by 52teas
314 tasting notes

Quick note:

Tastes like sweet young coconut shavings (it’s called “macapuno” in the Philippines).
I’m not getting much of the “pie” part.
I would love more pie crust, cream and custard, please.
Maybe I should try this as a latte.
Otherwise, it’s an excellent coconut-flavored black. Very satisfyingly coconutty.

Thanks to Liberteas for the generous sample!!

Really recommend trying it as a latte, I really think the pie-ness comes out a lot.

Just finishing up from my stash…sorry to see it go! Apparently this is another tea I am really enjoying that hasn’t really had super high scores here on steepster! Oh Well…I like it! I’m standing by it! Still LOVE the smell and love that the black tea taste base is strong. The Dates are certainly there and give it a sweet and sugary taste. I’m not really picking up on the vanilla but I am ok with that….maybe more into the aftertaste!? Perhaps. The Coconut, altho, huge slivers are viewable, they aren’t overly present in the taste…but still in the background and nice!

Nom.

Thanks Jillian!!!! :)

Everyone has been mentioning in their posts if they like dates or not so I will follow suit…I like ‘em just fine and dandy. I also LOVE coconut. I don’t know why I haven’t given this tea much thought. Hum…

But…here goes…I’m excited!!!! The aroma is really yummy…naturally sugary-sweet and it intrigues me.

It infuses on the verge of a dark brown. It almost smells a little like maple sugar post infusion…but it’s very true to the DATE.

The Coconut Slivers give it a shiny or oily look on top but it’s not distracting. I ran into the same thing with the other coconut one from 52 Teas and I liked that one fine.

This is very sweet and candy like. The aroma is FANTASTIC. It’s trying to be tricky…this tea. It’s telling me to sip more and more before typing. Well, I am doing both…a nice compromise. This is a really great flavored tea. BUT…and it’s NOT a bad BUT, BUT…you have to like dates. Since the date flavor is more IN YO FACE than the coconut I would say – you would have to like dates to try this BUT (oh no! Another BUT!?) BUT…I would think you would have to like coconut too…I am picking up the coconut more in the after taste and as it cools. So…if you like dates and coconut and a sweet surprise sort of tea or if you are looking for something that is REALLY different…give this a whirl. I am glad I did!

Oh! Did I mention…This smells AWESOME!? :P

Apparently I am one of the few that like this! LOLBUT I DO!!!! :) I am NOT afraid to say it! But like I said you have to really be into the ingredients…I guess. Both Dates and Coconut are two ingredients that most people either LOVE or HATE…good for me I like both. OH! And I forgot to mention the vanilla…as it cools you can smell and taste the Vanilla. It’s nice. A nice addition.

Adham

I think I may have to try this based on your review – I like all three of these flavors, too!

LiberTEAS

This is one that I have often considered when I shop at 52Teas (which is more often than I should!) but, never actually purchased because there were too many others that captured my interest. Perhaps next time I shall have to order this one.

drank Butter Pecan Black Tea by 52teas
259 tasting notes

Sweet and nutty, this tea fulfills its promise. It is very good but does not pop quite as much as other 52teas have done. I want to go and eat the tea leaves, however. This impulse is unusual and indicates the nutty goodness of the tea.

Preparation

Have you tried this one iced? I dare you to try it iced and not think of Butter pecan ice cream.

I brewed up the last I have of this last night to enjoy today as iced tea – and I’m glad I did – it’s really warm outside. It’s nice to have air conditioning and THIS iced tea to cool down!

Yummy! This tea really is better iced, I think.

Lori

Defintely not a hot tea but great iced

I brewed some of this last night so that I could try it iced today – it is SO good iced.

Fresh, fruity, but I can also taste the white tea, this is so refreshing. YUM!

I received this order a while back, but haven’t tried it until today…

This has a very nice flavor. The black currant is flavorful with a pleasant tart edge to it that isn’t too tart (I wouldn’t like it if it was)… it’s just enough to perk up the taste buds a bit. The white tea is sweet and delicate tasting, but, not so delicate that the black currant overwhelms it. There is a very good balance of flavor in this cup.

That being said, I don’t know that I am as fond of this tea as the rest of Steepster-ville seems to be! I like it, it’s tasty – and I know it’s going to be a very refreshing iced tea when ever it gets warm in the Pacific NorthWET.

As far as the three white teas that were released the week of February 22 – I’ve tasted two of them (this and Ramona’s Spiced Pear) and I prefer the spiced pear. I guess the next time I place the order, I will have to try the tropical explosion… yeah… like I need more tea. ha!

drank Chai With Chocolate by 52teas
558 tasting notes

On the 2nd day of Christmas..

Tea of the day from 52 Teas is Chai with Chocolate. I forgot how divine this tea is! I grabbed a gingerbread bagel and plain cream cheese at work to enjoy with this tea this evening. What a delicious pairing this was, the spices really showed themself in the blend with the molasses and gingery sweet bagel. I hope to enjoy a few more of these bagels with this tea as I will certainly be opening my 4oz tin I forgot I had this winter. Thanks for the reminder as to why I bought such a large amount of this tea! I can’t believe I went through this many cold days with out this chai, and I’ve had it all along!

Wanted a little more black tea kick this morning so I blended this 2 tsp chai with chocolate with 1 tsp english breakfast and made a successfully strong chai cup this morning. I hope the caffeine kicks in soon. Lots going on today. Hoping the thunderstorms don’t stop our company from coming! Meats are marinating and hor’d’ouerves are being made!

drank Chai With Chocolate by 52teas

Made this via stovetop method using a mixture of skim milk and fat free half and half for a total of 1 cup milks 1 cup water with two heaping teaspoons of tea. Wowsa is this good! I’m in chocolate chai heaven. It’s making me forget the Kusmi Spicy Chocolate that I miss so much. I think this could possibly be better! It’s more chai spicy and more chocolatey, and made with the cream it is oh so good. I have some of this cold brewing with skim milk in the fridge. I’m excited for that brew later today :)

Tonight I tried this with a touch of creamer and a dab or Almond Milk and a pinch of sweetener and I let it all steep together for a very long time. What I tasted was closer to maple syrup but still yummy! I was supposed to have Organic Honeybush Apple Tea by Leaf Spa but I decided on this. Honesty, I made it earlier today but I am certain I made it wrong so I I’ll try again tomorrow before reviewing.

Alright my first 52Teas order has arrived and I jumped at the opportunity to try this one right away. I find this to be a bold sophisticated tea with warm sweet undetones and a touch of maple. It does remind you of Butter Pecan Ice Cream, so it does deliver. So far so good and the cooler it becomes the more the pecan flavor grows more pronouced. Delicious!

drank Black Currant Bai Mu Dan by 52teas
371 tasting notes

This is another squee-worthy sample of tea that JacquelineM sent me :)

The dry leaf smell is so very nummy — like a delicate black currant candy. The smell of the cup was a lighter more white-teaish version of the dry leaves. I was really surprised at how delicate this tea was. Dainty black currant (which I’ve only had black currants that were like “hey, I’m in your tea — makin’ it all curranty”) and light white tea.

As I was drinking the second lovely steep I was reading Steepster and saw Jessica mention marshmallows for another review (for Golden Moon’s Vanilla Jasmine) and it was a “eureka!” moment. This tea conjures up black currant flavored marshmallows. It’s a very pleasant tea, but I’m not clamoring for more. When I finally place my first 52 Teas order? Yes, I will get a larger bag if available. NE

First time I had it I was like, ‘eh, ok’. And somehow I’ve ordered 4 bags of it, lol. 2 orders of one bag each, and then I decided I better stock up when I finished bag number two and ordered 2 more bags.

Rabs

LOL — that’s awesome! I came close to mentioning that I think that this is a “sneak up on” tea where after I buy a bag there’ll come an unexpected point where I must…have…MORE and will cry if I ever run out. ;)

Kristin

I’ve been begging Frank to put this on in the permanent collection.

Oh boy am I getting supremely bored with the tea selection available in my hometown. This is where 52teas rides galliantly to my rescue every week or so, my almost-regular knight in shiny packaging to save me from the dull, the uninspiring, the gross, the dragons!
The dry leaves have this fabulously buttery vanilla aroma, with the pecan becoming more apparant once its brewed. This tea is surprisingly tasty plain but adding a bit of milk brings out this lovely creaminess, perfectly underlined by the pecan flavor.
I can see how this would be amazing iced, but I really cannot bring myself to brew it any other way but piping hot yet! Perhaps I will save some for a mild winter day…

drank Chai With Chocolate by 52teas
2037 tasting notes

Sipdown no. 6 of 2017 (no. 287 total).

Because I have an overabundance of chai to the point of it being questionable whether I can drink it all in my lifetime, I’ve taken to trying them cold. Not with milk and sugar, just plain. Many of them make a decent cold spiced tea.

This tea is very long in the tooth. I enjoyed it hot, made on the stovetop, in its youth.

Cold is not its forte. Two flavors come to the fore, the chocolate and something else. If there’s cardamom in this, that’s what the something else is. The flavors were much more integrated hot.

That said, it’s not awful cold. Just not great.

Made on the stovetop using the Samovar extra black tea method. Extra black tea today was LeafSpa Yunan Gold. I love those sorts of names for teas. Makes me think of action movies involving drug cartels.

The Yunan Gold has a very thick mouthfeel, which I thought would make it a particularly good candidate to add to chai to help along the chewiness.

Yum. I can definitely taste the chocolate in this. It’s like someone mixed brownie and gingerbread batter together and liquified it. Or put another way, it’s like the Mayan Chocolate Chai but more chocolatey and less spicy (the ingredients are the same except for the cayenne pepper). It’s still nicely spiced, though. Although I do miss my black pepper. I wonder what adding a bit of black pepper would have done to it?

Definitely yum for a sleepy Wednesday afternoon pick me up.

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more

Whoa how can a chai get more chocolatey?! =P

Jillian

I know some traditional chai blends have black pepper in them – but it’s something I’d add sparingly, personally. :D

drank Coconut Cream Pie by 52teas

I got this as my free pouch for being the 10 respondent with the right answer to the email quiz (thanks Frank!), and was very excited about it as I have fairly recently discovered that despite not liking actual solid coconut (it’s the texture I think), I LOVE coconut milk and coconut flavored things (thanks to Adagio’s pina colada tea). So getting this was quite a treat, and to celebrate I was determined to make a fantastic cuppa.

Since I happened to have some coconut milk left over from a curry recipe I figured what better cream-substitute for coconut cream pie tea then actual coconut cream (the nice thick part that separates on top of the coconut milk – Mmm mmm good!).

I made a cup of this according to the package directions, going with the longer suggested steep time to get maximum coconuty-goodness. The result neat was a smooth black tea with no bitterness and a delightful rich-sweet coconut-cream note. Now I’ve never actually had coconut cream pie, but I imagine this would be what it tasted like. I didn’t seen as much of a coconut oil sheen on the top of the tea as I have with other coconut blends, but the flavour definitely didn’t disappoint.

As good as it was plain, I just had to try it coconut-ed to the max, and added about a teaspoon of coconut cream. The result was fantastic. The coconut cream just punched the coconut flavour up and added more richness that complimented the sweetness of the tea very well. It was like a topical desert in a cup, and even my friend who stated he “wasn’t really into coconut” loved it.
