518 Tasting Notes
Last night I got soooo little sleep. Maybe 2 hours.
I’m exhausted. And robotics competition season starts tonight. I’m going to be at our week 1 event with a bunch of high school kids until about 10:30 tonight. Not a good day to be without sleep.
So I figured guayusa would be a good idea to start the day, maybe give me some energy?
Yes, this tea does give me energy. And it tastes so yummy. Love the lemony goodness. If only this energy would last until late tonight, but I know it won’t. I may have to have more…..

Good aroma, from the moment I put the dry leaves into the warmed gaiwan, to the last sip of the last infusion.
The first infusions were really rich and strong. A bit woody, but smooth.
It didn’t last as long as I wanted.
It’s at a good price, though, so I might get it in the future….other than I have a lot of pu right now.
I liked this one quite a bit. I was hoping for a little more floral, but it was still nice. Of course, I accidentally threw away my notes in the kitchen. I’m not going to go back to try to get them, so oh well.

I decided to do a shou session with my new teapot, and picked this one out of the pile. It was the first shou I found.
Good beginner tea, but nothing outstanding. It didn’t last long.
Sorry, my brain is pretty much dead today. It’s been a long week. Now I have a sinus headache. I would like a nap, and instead I’m stuck at work.
But this tea is nice. Really nice.
I haven’t been drinking my white teas much lately. I don’t know why. This is a really great tea, so I’m glad I grabbed it this morning and brought it with me to work. I got this a little while back and just finally opened it. (It is still available on the website, so I recommend you get some.)
My little notes I jotted down:
fuzzies!
sweet
kinda hay
the bit of aroma I’m getting is beautiful (I’m got a bit of a stuffy nose to go with sinus headache)
love the color of the leaves while steeping

Me, too. You’d almost think it would be a turn off, since it’s furry (hair type associations, or something)… but with tea it’s just so gorgeous. I don’t want my food fuzzy, but I’ll take fuzzy tea any day. lol
Exactly!!!!! I don’t know what it is. It looks so soft…and it seems to add something to the tea flavor.
Mineral, sweet, deep, dark. Yum.

Grrrr….accidentally hit the X while I was trying to switch tabs.
So my re-write.
Thank you so much, TwoDog2, for the sample of this tea with my order. I have never had such an expensive tea before. And yes, it’s worth every penny.
Started out very bold and strong, deep, clear, and incredibly smooth. Staying smooth and strong, it slowly sweetened up over infusion to infusion. And it’s still going strong. Amazingly smooth, delicious. I’ve got to stop for today, but I’m saving the rest for tomorrow.

It was a snow day for me….well, I worked from home because we had over 16" (42cm) of snow yesterday, ending sometime well after I went to bed. Staying home from work was definitely the right idea.
So I had this tea today. I’ve been looking for a tea to use for my planned American wheat with blackberry and oolong beer that I’m going to make. I think this is going to be the tea.
It’s got some great mineral qualities to it. It’s sweet. It’s easy drinking. It stands up to multiple infusions, which means it should handle the boil pretty well.
And, it’s a great price to buy bulk! Plus, they deliver free in Ann Arbor, which makes this super affordable.
So do I, TeaBrat. It’s good on its own, but I think it will also be able to stand up to being in beer. It’ll be an interesting experiment, if nothing else.
AnnaEA the plan is in the boil. I spoke with the brewer at my favorite brewery, and that is when he adds his tea. (I’m actually trying to make a clone of one of his tea beers.)
Nifty. I’ve never a tea beer, but it sounds right up my alley. Maybe I should pull out my brewing stuff again… I hope you let us know how it comes out!
I will! I’m excited to make it and try it. I hope it turns out well. I ordered the tea last night, but I’m not sure when we’ll make it. Things are a little busy right now and for the next couple of months. Plus, it’s cold, so while we do brew in the garage in the colder months, we have to have the garage door open so we don’t die from CO poisoning. It’s right now a little too cold to even want to do that. We’ll see…
So I went to write a review of this for Angel, and I realized that I already had reviewed it, and I grabbed the wrong sample. Hah. No wonder I had noted that this reminded me other the other tea I’d sampled a couple weeks ago. It was the tea I’d sampled a couple of weeks ago. I’m a complete idiot.
I still like this tea, though. Nice, just the right amount of floral, right amount of roasty, right amount of tasty.
