1598 Tasting Notes
OH, this is amazing. For some reason I’m getting strawberries and cream, but I do taste the vanilla and walnuts mentioned in the description. This is very sweet and has a surprising amount of depth for a rooibos. I only have enough for a few more servings, but I look forward to each cup.
Thank you QueenofTarts!
I can’t wait to pick up my french teas from Sil now! :O I wouldn’t want to drink these daily because I wouldn’t want them to be common-place, but wow!
Preparation
Here’s a little sample from VariaTEA. I can’t believe how sweet this tea is. It’s insanse. I remember the sample from Teavana being close to Kool-Aid, but I didn’t add anything to this. Still, I like it. It’s fruity, and just a little tart. The hibiscus didn’t bother me at all.
I bet this would be quite nice iced.
And that’s a sipdown (82) for this oolong as I drink my re-steeped cup of it. I enjoyed it – the spices were actually a little different from most of the pumpkin teas I’ve had, although it’s more spice, and less pumpkin. Pumpkin is just too subtle a flavour I guess.
Would I buy it? Perhaps. If the price was reasonable. But I don’t need to rush out and grab it.
Thanks VariaTEA. You’re right – this tea is murky and oily and not pleasant to look at, but the taste is good enough. I find all Teavana blends are oily and murky like that so I just don’t look…
Oh, I also don’t taste the oolong in here at all, but I didn’t see much of it in the leaves I steeped. Teavana seems to be light on the tea. :P
Preparation
For me this tea was so oily that it coated my mouth. I have never had that before and thankfully I seem to be the only one who had that problem. Also there really is no oolong in there at all.
I think with pumpkin-flavoured things, it’s really more about the spices combined with a creamy note, since the flavour of pumpkin is indeed so subtle. Now that I think about it, stuff like Starbucks pumpkin lattes and other pumpkin-flavoured things never have a true pumpkin note anyway haha.
Ah yeah, that’s a good point too. But I think what happens is even when you see the words “pumpkin spice”, many people still expect a pumpkin note too, like pumpkin and spice. Kind of like when you see “vanilla spice”, you expect both the vanilla and the spice(s) to be present. Either way, I think pumpkin is a hard flavour to capture since the vegetable is so subtly-flavoured to begin with.
I think it’s been over a month since I had this one, which makes me want to yell at myself because this is really good. It’s dark and rich, without being overly malty. (which is what I was afraid of). I’m getting sweet honey, and caramel too!
I guess the secret for this one is to err on the side of understeeping!
Each sip is seriously like walking along the danger zone – it smells like it’s almost too strong and I don’t want to sip it, but when I do it’s just rich and perfect.
Preparation
Well, this has been in my cupboard since April and has barely been touched. :( I need to stop being afraid of fancy tea.
This is a really good one. It’s not as amazing as the descriptions lead it to be, which makes me feel like a tea failure, and that I shouldn’t be drinking Verdant in the first place, BUT it is good so who cares if I don’t get creamy custard and lingering dark elderberries. >:|
This tastes green and fresh, and slightly creamy, and it makes me think that the impending snowstorm we were warned about might just turn into spring rains and leaves blooming and sunshine on a coolish day. It’s darker than other oolongs I’ve had, which is a good thing too. I’ve got enough left for one more cup, but this type of oolong seems like pure win. Even without the “vegetal creamy green bean flavor with a lingering honeydew melon sweet orchid finish.”
Preparation
I’m the same way about fancy-er tea. Especially about Verdant. Lol. I feel like my palate hasn’t become tuned enough to enjoy their teas like they should be enjoyed. So the samples I have just sit there even though I know I should just drink them so they don’t go ‘bad’. (Actually at this point it seems like my palate is devolving horribly which makes me feel worse about trying them. /cry/) Lol.
Backlog & Sipdown (78)
I forgot to log this when I drank it yesterday. I was completely distracted by the fact that this was puerh. I didn’t read the description well enough I guess. So, my mind basically went. Wait, puerh? Puerh? Hmm, still puerh. I was stuck in a loop. And that was my first cup.
Happily the second cup was much better as I was able to actually think about it. And it was pretty tasty. It was dark and woodsy/earthy like a puerh with the caramel notes mixed with it – it wasn’t like a puerh from Davidstea where the flavouring is so strong you wonder what the base is. Instead this is fully in your face puerh, with flavouing to ENHANCE those notes. It was really quite good, and (as VariaTEA) had hoped, makes me curious about trying more from CaesarsTea.
Thanks for the sample VariaTEA!
Looks like I’m in agreement with VariaTea. This one smells good, but it just falls flat when it comes to flavour. It’s just meh.
So, sipdown, (79) but I’m happy I got to try it at least.
Preparation
I was sad too because it really did smell amazing. Unfortunately I packaged it up just before tasting it because that scent tricked me into believing it would be good. It was not. I am sorry that was your introduction to CaesarsTea.
I haven’t had this in a month so I was having a strong craving for it! Sadly, I’ve only got enough left for 3-4 more cups. :O And I can’t really justify buying more right now as my tea money is going to DTT, Butiki and somewhere else.
Sad, sadness. ILU Tiger tea! ILU Tiger Tin for my Tiger Tea!
And… 12 minutes later and my cup is empty. :(
I’d immediately go re-steep but it’s nearly 1:30 and I don’t want to run the kettle and risk waking up my bf. Perhaps I’ll move it into another room. /determinedface
I used to make my roommate run her blender in the laundry room (which was right beside the kitchen) because the door blocked enough noise I could sleep through it! So yes. Move the kettle. Drink your tea. :)
I ended up re-steeping it tihs morning. It’s awesome!
This is my favorite rooibos of all time.
