I’m happy I bought some of this from MissB. It’s good! And 2 oz is the right amount. I don’t really want a full tin of it.

I’m drinking this because I’m home and have access to my kettle! I bought the kettle to try and entice myself into drinking more white/green teas because I’m too lazy to heat water and measure it with a meat thermometer like I used to. (Also, weird)

So, I take a sip and yes.. blueberries! Also, something odd. Huh. OH, it’s the tea. The Pai Mu Tan! I had to wiki it and realized that that is also Bai Mudan and also what we call White Peony (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bai_Mu_Dan_tea).

And now you know!

The white base is really nice. It caught my attention because I haven’t had a lot of white teas, and this is stronger than I expected, while still being delicate. The blueberry flavouring gives it a nice fruitiness, but doesn’t take away from the … hmm.. not grassiness… vegetal nature of the white tea?

Verdict: It’s good.

Also, the ingredients, as listed on my pouch are: Pai Mu Tan. Natural Blueberry Flavouring. That’s nice and short.

drank Strawberry Cream by Teavana
1598 tasting notes

So this was one of the Teavana teas that ActUALLY arrived from my last order.
I nearly wish it hadn’t. :P I forgot about the hibiscus when I steeped it and now it’s just a little too tart. But it smells like strawberry cream. Beautifuly, tantalizing strawberry cream….

I’m hoping that a shorter steep time will tame the hibiscus. If not, then cold-steeping. I don’t have too much of this at least.

175 °F / 79 °C 4 min, 15 sec
Yvonne

I ALMOST picked this one up during their sale until I saw the hibiscus. So glad I didn’t now!

TeaLady441

Yeah. :( Well, I only paid a little for it so it could have been worse…

drank Jardin Bleu by Dammann Frères
1598 tasting notes

And this was another one Sil was kind enough to share with me! It has strawberry in it!!! And rhubarb sourness. And a lot of great things.

JustJames first introduced me to this, which I am grateful for because Sil might not have realized it’s one I would gladly take from her! Everyone rocks!

Sil

….plus the tin is super cute

TeaLady441

It is! And once it’s empty, my kid will have a lot of fun with that. :)

drank Choco*Latte by American Tea Room

Weird. I’m happy I got a sample of this from VariaTEA instead of buying it because I am not a fan. Nope, nope nooooooo.

I thought I would be too, but it’s just too … huh. I’m not even sure how to describe it. It’s like rotten banana – with that sort of liquorish odor, and it’s thick and woodsy and not chocolate. I’m just going to dump this. (155)

VariaTEA

And now to pass the sample on to someone else in hopes this will find a nice home. Either that or it will get passed along until it gets dumped cup by cup.

TeaLady441

Yes. If someone (Canadian) wants the last bit of it (2 cups?) they can have it! If no one claims it it will just… disappear!

OMGsrsly

That sounds terrible. Please disappear it! Please. (Well, unless someone is REALLY curious!)

Fjellrev

Gross, I think BPAL makes a perfume that smells like how you describe the taste of this: Banana Peel in a Graveyard. Personally, I wouldn’t want to know what that would taste like.

Fjellrev

And thanks for taking one for the team and trying it/going through that experience. Now you’ve spared me.

caile

BPAL comes up with some interesting perfumes, that’s for sure.
Rotten banana tea sounds pretty awful.

TeaBrat

I was not a fan of this either

TeaLady441

Ok, I’m glad I’m not the only one who wasn’t a fan.

And yes, I think I’ll do everyone a favour and just disappear it. I wouldn’t want to inflict this on my worst enemy, nevermind one of you guys!!!

VariaTEA

If you go to the tea’s page, people rated it fairly highly. Perhaps it was just this sample that I inflicted on the both of us?

TeaLady441

That’s a possibility!

VariaTEA

In that case, I am very sorry to have subjected you to this nightmare.

TeaLady441

Hahah. Well it’s not like you made it bad! It could have just been another tea that I like which you don’t. (i.e., those Teavana ones I was able to drink)

Thanks Sil! I finally finished this sample! (156)
I’ve never heard of this company before but the blueberry in this is good. It’s very strong but doesn’t taste really artificial or anything. I guess it had actually blueberries in it too? Great.

Thanks again!

Oh, and now that I’m NOT getting my Teavana order in, I’ll only be at 180 once all my orders/swaps etc arrive! So I’ve got room for more? Ha. NO. No nO NO.

Ok, goodbye to this! I think that is the last of my Amoda teas, which is good because the new box will be out in a week or so! And if I end up with more Amoda teas than I can drink, I should unsub. I might anyway though. It’s really not worth $12 a month. Probably not. But it is great getting something in the mail and I have discovered some good companies, like the Devotea, through them!

I like this tea. I get a little bit of creaminiess and lots of mint. The rooibos is still there – you can’t hide it, but it’s not too woodsy or anything.

Yep. This is a pretty relaxing cup. It’s probably good that I’ve switched to something without caffeine after all the tea I had today (a lot of them were resteeped)

Yvonne

Subscription boxes seem so exciting – glad you enjoyed this :) Nothing better than a relaxing rooibos at the end of a long day.

TeaLady441

They are! And they’re a decent gift if your family/friends ever need one that they can surprise you with! (I did that with my mom for Mother’s Day last year)

Sil

I like the amoda box from a canada perspective, there’s not much else out there and if you’re starting your tea journey it’s pretty good. Once you’ve figured out what you like, it’s less exciting, especially if you’re on steepster where you already have a billion companies you’re exposed to haha (in my opinion)

drank Eggnog Matcha by Matcha Outlet
1598 tasting notes

Sil passed this on to me and I am quite grateful. The flavouring in this is great. It’s not too strong, but mixed with cold milk I get that familiar eggnog flavouring that I crave.

I think if I bought it I’d probably do 30g instead of 60 because it’s one I would crave more in the winter months…

Thank you!

Sil

glad you liked it!

VariaTEA

I have a sample of this both in my order which is somewhere in the world and trapped in my fridge in Florida. It is the one matcha with no information on my spreadsheet because it is the only one I own that I haven’t tried. Actually, I should go have some matcha now…

Roswell Strange

Call me crazy, but I like this as tea soda…

Fjellrev

Is it really heavy on the nutmeg?

TeaLady441

I didn’t think so? I’ll try to pay more attention next time I drink it, but OTOH I really do like nutmeg.

Fjellrev

Oh yeah, I really like nutmeg too. I’ve just noticed that most perfumes/beverage interpretations tend to be NUTMEG and nothing much more haha.

drank Cherry Dream by RiverTea
1598 tasting notes

Ok, lets see if I can give this a proper review.

I thought since I was home it’d be a good time to have a green and brew it properly with my kettle. I love how it smells – very simply I can smell cherry and grapefruit.

When I sip it I get blasted with the grapefruit, which is followed up by the cherry to sweeten things up, and a touch of rose at the end. I think that’s different than what I said before, but this is what I taste now.

It’s cooled a bit by this point bc the baby distracted me for about half an hour, but it’s still tolerably warm and very tasty. I would say it’s more cherry and rose than grapefruit once it’s cooled.

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 3 min, 0 sec
Dexter

Hmmmm “blasted with grapefruit” – not sure that’s going to make me happy, but if that goes away as it cools. Need to find time to try these for myself. Glad you are exploring yours.

Sil

MINE ARE HERE!!!!! NOM NOM NOM
orange puerh; tropical dream are the two teas i don’t think you have and i have samples of pret a portea; granny’s cake and golden himalaya…any of those something you want to try cavo?

TeaLady441

Dexter – ok, blasted might have been a little exaggerated. I was just caught off guard :P I hope yours doesn’t disappoint!.

drank Pumpkin Milkshake by Butiki Teas
1598 tasting notes

I thought I’d have this, but I should have added a bit of brown sugar to it. It was ok, but sorta muted flavour-wise. And I know Butiki teas are flavoured more naturally than say, Della Terra, so I shouldn’t expect it to punch me in the face, but it was a little milder than I prefer.

I wonder how 2.0 compares?

Preparation
180 °F / 82 °C 4 min, 45 sec
Roswell Strange

I’ll save some of 2.0 to send to you when I get more money, and you can try it out for comparison :)

Courtney

I personally prefer this one. :)

Yvonne

Was it at least creamy?

Sil

I’ve got 2.0 at my place as well

TeaLady441

It was a little creamy? IDk, maybe I just wasn’t in the right headspace to fully enjoy this one, or maybe it’s just not for me. I already have enough Butiki teas on my always-restock lists that I’m not too fussed either way. :P

Yvonne

Aw. :( That’s disappointing.

Fjellrev

I also find the 2.0 quite muted (well, it was ginger-heavy). I’ll have to try again.
