1598 Tasting Notes
I bought this in the summer when I was new to tea and thought I could judge a tea by its aroma and that I needed to buy 50g or more. I’m still trying to drink all those teas. :p
I think I still have 20g less, and it’s actually worse than I remember. All I can taste is the stevia. Hey! DavidsTea!!! I’m perfectly capable of adding my own sweetener if I want any.
But then what else should I expect from tea named after pop.
Today has been rough. So rough. The baby was miserable and wouldn’t sleep, and it’s just compounded so that it’s nearly midnight and she’s still awake and grumpy and I’m still awake and possibly grumpier. :| #momlife
Tried a few things and nothing worked so I took a little break to brew up a cup of Cocomint Cream while I left her to play with some toys. BEST CHOICE EVER.
DavidsTea better have something damn amazing to replace this because I am already sad that it’s going. I went into one of the stores and they are out of stock and don’t think they will get anymore in. I have one more store to check, otherwise I only have a precious 30g left.
Sadness. So much sadness. If I ever do experiment with blending teas, I’ll just have to make this one my damn self. :| #shakesfist
You should still be able to buy it online! I agree… this one’s pretty good even for a mint disliker like me!
Have you tried any variants of coconut oolong? (E.g. Golden Moon’s Coconot Pouchong, ZenTea’s Coconut Oolong)?
Yeah I have ZenTea’s Coconut Oolong. That free sample they sent was the best thing they could have done bc I’m addicted!
Hahahahaha, awesome! I was thinking that for a coconut lover, that’s definitely one you have to try (they’re all more or less equivalent, in my opinion).
The baby is finally sleeping!!! I can enjoy the last few sips of my tea in peace, then crawl to bed.
Kittenna – all coconut oolongs are equivelent, or all coconut blends in general? Those are the only two I’ve had but I’m instantly hooked.
Sorry, I definitely only meant green coconut oolongs seem to all be similar (I’m sure there are variations, but I’ve tried about four and they all are approximately the same in terms of deliciousness for me). Coconut blends vary like crazy!! I have yet to find a really good coconut black that works for me… some are soapy, others have terrible base teas… (Buttered Rum was good, but I think my last batch may have been bad…). But yeah, coconut in blends seems to be very, very hit or miss. Cocomint Cream is probably one of the best coconutty blends I’ve had. I also really enjoy Zhena’s Gypsy Tea Coconut Chai. I feel like there are others, but can’t currently remember…
Also, glad the baby’s finally sleeping! I should be sleeping as well, haha… just enjoying the last of my very cold teas first. And possibly placing a Verdant order…
Hahah. Late night tea orders are the worst. At that point ALL WILLPOWER IS GONE. (I am not going to check out Verdan’t site… not gonna).
And I totally see what you mean. :) Good to know about the oolongs. Soapy doesn’t sound good – I guess I should be careful if I find a coconut black and test it out before I stock up. Well… that’s something I should do before buying 100g of ANYTHING really.
YES! Buy only sample sizes!!!! Don’t stock up on anything for a while unless you love it and it’s limited edition. Otherwise you end up with 100g tins of teas you thought you liked until you found something better…. (I made that mistake. Sigh.)
At least my Verdant order was already planned, and I added nothing extra to it, so that’s good. I don’t need more tea, but really wanted to try their new ones! Haha.
I pulled this out of my black tea box, steeped it, and by the time I had returned it to the tin, had forgotten what I had made. It was a fun game to figure it out.
It seems that the pomegranates are more prominent this time around, but the black base is slightly astringent. The sweet and bitter combination is interesting and will get me through the cup, but I’ll probably switch to something else instead of resteeping.
This is my first Pu-erh. I’m a little nervous because people keep saying that it’s fishy.
I steeped it for 50 seconds like the package said, and then gave it a sniff. My immediate reaction? Bleeeach. I actually made a noise out loud and that’s saying something!
First sip? Oh geez. This is super fishy. And it’s thick and seaweedy and so very strange.
A few sips later – I’m not sure if this is for me.
Oh. I didn’t rinse it. So I steeped it again. Less fishy. Still seaweedy, with a darker malty taste. It’s drinkable though.
Maybe it’s an acquired taste? I keep sipping but I doubt I’ll come close to finishing my cup.
It doesn’t seem fair to rate this because I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with it.
Preparation
It could be due to how old the tea is. In my (limited) experience, it seems like the younger ripe puerh is, the more fishy it tastes. If the puerh was made in the last year or two it could be fishy still from the cooking process.
I won a 1oz sample of this through a facebook contest! Woohoo!
It totally sounds like an evening tea – something to drink while you’re wrapped up in a bunch of blankets and reading a book under the light from a lamp. I decided to have it now because I’m a rebel! :P
It smells really great. So much cinnamon and vanilla!
The first few sips – it’s really heady. So much vanilla! I get a bit of ginger and cinnamon at the beginning of each sip, but it’s quickly replaced by all the vanilla. It does have a bit of a warming effect though!
I’ll rate it when I’m not sleepy and a little dizzy and in need of some actual food instead of tea in my belly. :P
Preparation
I might have underleafed though? (Getting used to teapot size) It’s good but I’m only getting cinnaminamon :P aaaand a little bit of sweetness! Gonna have to try again tmrw in my starbux mug.
Yum! I bought a bunch of teas today for a birthday gift at Davids and saw this in a little sampler pack for half price. I should have loaded up on them, but only bought two. Oh well.
It smells very oolongy and buttery and great. Guess what? That’s pretty much how it tastes too. It’s a nice light tea, and and the flavour just lingers after each sip.
:| Why are oolongs so difficult to describe? I like it you guys! Try it!
Preparation
So I made this tea about two hours ago, and then was completely distracted with the baby and helping a friend with a business idea.
WHOOPS.
I gotta say though that this tea is very forgiving. It’s room temperature and it is still very VERY good. It’s a pleasant swirl of apple and cinnamon with a touch of creaminiess to wrap it all together.
I have been so impressed with Della Terra Teas when it comes to their honeybush/rooibos blends. Wow. Thank you.
Preparation
Sipdown!
This is my third cup for today. I didn’t log the other two kinds because they were disappointing. It was a bad day for tea. Or foe tea as my autocorrect suggested. :)
I’m glad I held off on rating this – I’m enjoying this far more this time around. Actually, with all the berry notes, and the ultra-smoooooth base, this is very comparable to Adagio’s TARDIS Blend! Except maybe smoother. And cheaper to buy/ship.
I love the golden amber liquor. This is a pretty tea, and and it tastes as good as it smells. I could see this becoming a regular.
I wonder if the extra 30s brewing helped subdue the bergamot, or if I was just ‘off’ when I tried it before.
Yeah, this one is TERRIBLE.
Eeeeep! Yuckers.
