When I first read the description for this tea, I wasn’t terribly excited but that was a mistake. This is tasty as hell, which is a good thing. This is pretty much the tea equivalent of After Eight chocolate bars. Or Mint Aero? So good!

O___O

ashmanra

’Scuse me while I wipe a bit of drool off the old iPad here. Did you say Mint Aero?

TeaLady441

I had to check Wikipedia – do you guys not have mint Aero’s in the USA? I wonder what awesome chocolate you get that we don’t?

Ozli

They also don’t have kinder eggs o__o (not that it’s good chocolate, HA) but they have cherry coke ALL THE TIME and not just when the coke and pepsi gods make it so. So. The Force is Balanced.

Crowkettle

Unlimited cherry coke! Coke and pepsi gods, why are you so cruel to citizens on this side of the boarder? Love the name of this tea, btw.

Ozli

ikr? i dream of one day again having vanilla pepsi.

;__;

Crowkettle

Vanilla pepsi!!!!!!!! So delicious. I thought pop didn’t excite me anymore. Clearly, it still does… >.>

Ozli

Pop is the hardest to kick. /o\ I almost never miss gluten, but pop…? :/ (SO delicious.)

Not too bad, but I made it with milk and the milk totally overwhelms all the flavours. I’m getting a smidgen of raspberry and that’s about it. At least it’s distracting me from mindless snacking.

Indigobloom

I hate it when that happens! adding milk when you don’t realize it will kill all the flavour :(

TeaLady441

Totally! Especially when it comes to chai’s! I don’t usually add milk otherwise.

Indigobloom

I add it to my Indian black teas and chai. not all the flavoured ones tho!

Crowkettle

If I hadn’t read “chai” on the label first I wouldn’t have assumed this to be one- it was muted anyways!

TeaLady441

Yeah I wish it were more of a chai – I wouldn’t have bought 2 oz had I known how mellow it is. :P

So, V-Day today – time to drink this sample! It’s pretty chocolate, with jife marshmallows bits. Also this was a freebie: bonus!

I like it but I’m not convinced this is the best – I still have the Della Terra chocolate try-me pack to work through.

I haven’t rated this one yet, although I’ve had it several times now. I’ve been busy power reading instead of hanging out on the internets. (Wheel of Time book 13!!! Aaarrrgg)

It smells like a fruity black, and it tastes nice and smooth, with a darkish fullbodied mouthfeel. I really like the aftertaste too. I’m really impressed by it!

Thanks JosieJade for such a generous sample!

Lovely! It seems like a fairly simple tea with a strong apple flavour (I’m getting green apple for some reason) and lots of toastiness. I feel like there’s a bit more depth to it than that though on further sips.

I didn’t expect this to show up today either with the holiday but I feel spoiled. Poor Della Terra Tea. I don’t know that they make much from me. I bought all these teas when they were 30% off, spent $30 for the free shipping, they gave me a free sample of one of the Valentine’s teas, and then they spent $11 just on postage. Great deal for me. I hope they do well too bc they’re one of my top 3 tea companies! :p

Great deal :) Way to go!

WoohoO! Drinking Butterbeer in my LotR mug, while reading the Thirteenth book of the Wheel of Time and wearing my Han Shot First shirt.

I wish I had TARDIS jewelry so I could mix my fandoms up more.

Ozli

Bahahahhaha ~~SCI-FIVE!

My cupboard currently lists 104 teas, 3 of which are actually teaware and don’t count. But it’s still more than I want so I am in sipdown mode! I’d like to get closer to 80.

I’d like to get closer to having 15-20 staple teas that I always “need” to have on hand, and maybe another 20-30 little sample sizes to play around with. That’s probably not ever going to heppen but…

SIPDOWN!

Becky

I… that’s so many… :O

My mom would kill me if I filled her house with tea!

TeaLady441

Haha. To be fair, most of it is 20g or less. It could all squish onto one shelf of the cupboard but I organize it on the counter for easy access (and bc its my house – #shakesfist)

Becky

Heck yeah! If it was my house, I’d clear out a whole cabinet and go to town. But I have to make room for old-person food and twenty kinds of oatmeal.

TeaLady441

A whole cabinet would be amaaaaazing. :D

Becky

Just thinking about it makes me want to get a million cute little tins for storage and a collection of teacups. Meanwhile, two rooms away, my husband has started to twitch and has no idea why.

TeaLady441

I would love that! If I actually owned my own place, instead of renting, I would have a whole tea nook set up, and all my tins would be color coded. <3 I think I can understand the whole husband twitching in the other room thing. :P

Ozli

OT but saaage sounds so intriguing?!

TeaLady441

It was weird! The first cup, I didn’t mind it so much, but with the second cup I was far more aware if it and it made me think of turkey. And turkey and vanilla don’t go well in my head so I couldn’t enjoy my cup. :p Silly brain.

Ozli

HA! No, that makes sense to me. Lemon-sage sounds interesting though.

I’m not really getting a lot of marshmallows out of this – more like bubblegum? And it feels a little thick in my mouth, although not unpleasantly. It’s minty and relaxing – just what I wanted.

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 3 min, 0 sec
Ozli

Not bitter/astringent to you at that temp/time? zomg, this one killed me the first time I tried it! I think I like it (the 2nd time I made it, it was good) but I still have a hard time convincing myself to make it because of that first disastrous time – like anything oolong, whoops)…

TeaLady441

Oh sorry. I wasn’t paying attention when I did the temperature. It was more like 75 – I used the meat thermometer in the kettle to check it.

And no luck with oolong yet eh? :/

Ozli

I liked Prairie Berry – I think that was oolong? And I liked the Long Life oolong a lot. But I have to work up some bravery to go for the coconut oolong again. I JUST WANT TO LOVE IT SO MUCH!! Oolong PTSD.

TeaLady441

Past Tea Steeping Disaster? It’s a terrible, terrible thing that is. Maybe if you get K to make you a cup? Or leave it alone for a few more months?

Thanks Josie Jade!

This might not be for everyone, but it’s insanely cinnamony. A pretty bold afternoon cup. This would be a good one once I return to work – my cubicle would smell nice too.
