drank Organic The Skinny by DAVIDsTEA

So this tea is pretty useful to have around when my stomach isn’t feeling so hot. I’m not sure if it actually helped, or if I just feel better anyways, but I guess that justifies having it in my cupboard.

Just not… 100g of it. /0\ (I’m down to maybe 20 now though!)

Fjellrev

I agree, I like this one because it also makes you feel cleansed in a way, but 100g seems like too much.

drank Tamarind Pop by Butiki Teas

This is interesting! I’ve never had tamarind fruit before so I don’t really know what this should taste like, but after seeing all the high reviews for it I asked for this as my sample!

It is pretty great. There are some vanilla-y notes, and some fruity notes and it almost makes me think of cream soda (like TeaEqualsBliss mentioned).

I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to order this in the future as there are other Butiki teas I enjoy more and I usually have to restrain myself, but I’m happy I was able to try it!

Thanks Stacy for being so generous with your samples!

drank Thai Tea by Love is Tea (LIT)

I’d never had Thai Tea before so I thought I’d give this a try. It brews up bright orange! Like, really orange! So strange! I added a dash of milk to it because that seemed the right thing to do and now it’s the same color as butternut squash soup.

I wish I knew what was in this mystery tea. It’s nice, but not heavily flavoured.

Crowkettle

Intriguing…

TeaLady441

Would you like some?

OMGsrsly

Ooh, I found a recipe for home made Thai Iced Tea that was REALLY good. I didn’t use powdered star anise, instead I used 2 stars. Just… don’t make it in a plastic gravity thing. Mine STILL smells like star anise and cloves, and it’s been weeks. http://www.wishfulchef.com/2012/04/how-to-make-thai-iced-tea-from-scratch/

Crowkettle

OMGsrsly’s recipe makes me want some. :/

TeaLady441

Yeah that sounds really good. Maybe if I’d added star anise and vanilla this would have blown me away. :P I’ve got your addy still so I can send you a bit to play with.

OMGsrsly

Super easy to make! The spices can be found pretty cheap in the “Asian foods” aisle of Superstore or Save-On. Now I think I have to make some. Tomorrow, though. I need to stop with the caffeine tonight.

JennyFur

I used coconut milk when I had this tea, and I liked it a lot. Theres a thai food place by my house that makes Thai Iced teas this way. That tea (almost exactly, but not the right brand), brewed with coconut milk over coffee. I could drink that by itself for the rest of my life and be happy lol. I have no idea how they make it but just throwing some coconut milk in to cool it and drinking it that way was close enough to make me a happy girl.

drank MintGrass by The Teaologist
1598 tasting notes

I just saw Sil’s review of this and I realised that I forgot to do mine weeks ago! I recieved this as part of my Amoda tea box, which was a little disappointing because 2/3 teas were herbal. I’m sure that won’t happen again though.

Anyways, this one is pretty basic, and while I don’t mind the ingredients I find that I prefer DavidsTea’s Mother’s Little Helper more due to the added make-you-go-to-sleep-valerian-root on top of the lemongrass, mint and chamomile.

I made two cups of this, and then put the rest of my sample in with my DT tin.

Kittenna

Yeaaah, this one was a disappointment. So boring.

TeaLady441

Hopefully this month’s box is more exciting!

Sil

the first 3 boxes were pretty darn good!

OMGsrsly

Oh, right! Amoda. They will substitute teas if people have allergies. :) Once I find a job, a subscription will be mine!

Thanks CrowKettle for the sample! (Took me long enough to try it /0\)

I have to agree with the others that this is a very nice, and damn fine dragon well tea. It’s lightly vegetal and very buttery. How would I compare this to the one from Verdant? IDK. :| But I do know that this is much nicer than the dragonwell I bought from Murchies.

I’m looking forward to resteeping this all afternoon!

EDIT: I wanted to make sure I wasn’t misremembering the murchie’s dragonwell so I made some of that to sip side-by-side. It’s far less buttery than the Dragon Power, and it tastes very spinacy/sea-weedy. It really reminds me of the Tie Guan Yin oolong I ordered from there. So, not as smooth and delicate and buttery as the Dragon Power.

Mmm… butter. I forgot I sent you some of this! :)

Oh! This is good!

I didn’t expect that actually. I know I like a lot of Zen Tea’s teas, but Almond Marzipan just sounded ho-hum and I’ve had this in my stash for a month or so without ever giving it a thought. I only made it today because I figured I’d better try it before it starts to get stale or something.

But oh! This is great! It’s nutty and sorta sweet and yes it reminds me of marzipan without being too strong that I don’t like it. (I like marzipan when it’s in things, but on it’s own it’s too much).

So thanks ozli! I now have more sleepytime options that aren’t just chamomile and lemon stuff.

tea-sipper

Yay, I just ordered two sample packages of this one… but please don’t tell me tea goes stale after a month!

TeaLady441

I’m sure it doesn’t but I just have it in a ziplock bag so I don’t want to risk it.

Terri HarpLady

That sounds tasty!

Thanks Allie for the sample!

This is a nice honeybush with a sweet strawberry finish with each sip. The honeybush is slightly nutty too! I’m going to enjoy finishing this pack off.

Sipdown!

Ok, now that I’m down to 67 teas I think I should go back to focusing on the teas that I really enjoy, instead of drink this down, get rid of this, make it go awaaaaay… (I have been alternating some of my favs, butt seems like every 2nd cup was something meh I wanted to drink away).

Still! 67 is great! When my orders all arrive I should still be under 100. :O

Sil

..and that’s how it starts…the ever creeping up cupboard..

TeaLady441

Noooooooo! :p

ashmanra

Oy vey, I want to get down to a hundred. I gave away two boxes of tea. And yet I have a list of what I want to order…

Sil

i wish murchie’s did smaller sizes. I never want to buy 50g anymore ever again unless i’m slitting with people

TeaLady441

Yeah I traded a bunch and tried to give more than I’m getting, and I felt guilty but I also dumped a few teas that were just old and stale and not worth keeping. I wish Murchie’s did smaller though, although I’ve been disappointed with some of their teas now that I’ve branched out to other companies.

OMGsrsly

I asked, and I got 1 oz at Murchie’s. That was in-store, though.

drank S'mores by Della Terra Teas

Unexpected sipdown!

This hit the spot, even though it’s late and I probably shouldn’t be drinking it. I just saw the new Doctor Who and I wanted to celebrate.

drank S'mores Genmaicha by 52teas
1598 tasting notes

So I’m nearly halfway through my package and am now finally ready to review it. I’m pretty much disappointed with this. Browncoat Genmaicha was really good, with a bit of chocolate, and I thought this would be the same x3. But it’s pretty boring. It mostly tastes like genmaicha, which I haven’t had much experience with. Maybe I should make my DTT S’mores…

Sad Cavocorax is sad.

I would swap it, but I just sent a lot in the mail…
