Sipdown!
(While I’m drinking Verdant’s Autumn Harvest Laoshan Green in my other tumbler, I’m trying to use this one for sipdowns so I can alternate between trying a new tea, and finishing off the last of some old!)
This was really enjoyable. It’s so sweet and chocolatey and mmmmm. I love raspberry chocolate. It makes me think of these fancy Godiva chocolate bars we used to buy when I worked at Chapters and had a 30% discount. (Those days were great, but I didn’t make a lot of money as a lot went back to Chapters every week…)
I probably shouldn’t be drinking sweet teas like this before I’ve had anything to eat, but the baby got me up at 6, and everyone else will probalby sleep in until 11 or so, and I don’t want to make more noise than I can help while in the kitchen. Priorities = tea. Food later?
I have so many loose samples everywhere – I’m going to copy Sil and spend some time reorganizing it all today! I packed up so many samples to Courtney yesterday and it made room in some of my boxes, so maybe it won’t look so chaotic!
Preparation
I think loose samples are the bane of any Steepsterite’s existence. (Is that the correct term?) I haven’t done many swaps, but most of my teas are sample sizes!
I’ve done so many recently that most of mine teas are close to sample size. So much variety. So little tea (by weight).
Time to properly evaluate this tea! I don’t know how much 4g of tea is, but I covered the bottom of my little gonfu pot with leaves, and tried to steep it for 3 seconds as directed, but it might have been a bit longer – pouring into the gongfu pot and out into my bubble cup at the SAME TIME takes coordination!
Here’s what I have so far – ~3 seconds is delicious. How can you make tea in such a short time? It defies all reason really. It’s lightly yellow, and tastes vegetal (likes spinach?) and very creamy/buttery. Amazing!
2nd steep – More grassy than spinachy. Still buttery.
Preparation
Maybe it’s because I’m new to pu’erh but it seems to me that this tea isn’t as awful as everyone has led me to believe. It’s sweet, it’s slighty creamy and then that smooths over into something earthy.
Maybe I’m just used to artificial flavouring? Or I don’t know how good this should actually be? I’ll probably have a better idea of what pu’erh should be like after I receive my sample from Butiki but for now I’ll play around with the few samples I bought from Davids.
Now, where do I file my Pu’erh teas? I probably should rearrange all my sachets in the boxes and get more containers, but buying more storage containers just means that I’m accepting the higher number of teas that I have. :| Better to just have them strewn on my counter and annoying me so that I sip and make room to file them away! #newplan
Mmm… I like that this is earthy and not fishy!
Preparation
It figures! I just finished the last of this today, and now I’m sad, even though I had this sitting at a low rating for awhile now.
I like the ginger and orange, and I enjoyed the earthy puerh lurking below the surface. Also, my stomach was bugging me a bit, and after drinking about 8oz of this I feel a lot better. Coincidence, maybe? Either way, I think I need to get some more puerhs! (From anywhere. Just flavoured for now though because I’m afraid to try it alone again). Not sure if it was the puerh or the ginger or both that made this so good.
Upped my rating.
same for me. this is the tea that every time i have it i’m like, why didn’t i get more of this?
so then i just ask my local friend for sample sizes from her tin haha.
Haha. So long as you are able to snag some! I like that this is low caffeine too so it might be a nice dinner tea.
I’ll probably pick up 30g of this. Last time it was a tin and that’s just… too much. :D
Thanks! I’ll let Shmiracles take first dips on it as I’m basically near a DavidsTea every other day and not sure if it’s as convenient to get Davids there!
Yes I’d love to take it! I’ll message you tomorrow :) yummm (in the mean time feel free to browse my cupboard)
I took this out of my trade it away pile so I could have a cup of it today, but …. it’s just as awful as I remember.
Back in the swap box it goes. Maybe someday, someone will love it.
I picked this tea tonight for the sipdown!
It’s really tasty and ultra sweet. It’s enjoyable, but I think I prefer their rooibos teas and chocolate teas more than this one. I’m passing the rest on to Jackie T, who I hope enjoy it more than I did!
Yay!
