Ok, so maybe I can see why this is so amazing. And I’m so happy I wasn’t disappointed either after reading everyone else’s reviews.

This is a nice bright assam, subtly sweet, and just a touch fruity. It’s not as punchy as the Tiger Assam, and I think I’m getting notes of caramel at the end of the sip. Very delicious.

Also, added this to my shopping list. I can see needing several Steven Smith samples in the future!

Thanks TerriHarpLady!

Bwahahahahahahah looks like we might be able to have out travelling black tea box after all!

Terri HarpLady

I know! My dream will come true!

TeaLady441

Haha. I might be interested…..

Terri HarpLady

I’ll send you more info, Cavo…or did I already?

TeaLady441

I don’t know? I don’t think so!

drank Pumpkin Spice by Adagio Teas

It tastes like pumpkin milk! To be fair, this is half milk and half tea and all awesome. If I’d let it steep longer, I wonder if it would be like drinking pumpkin pie?

So even though it’s summer and I’m wearing a long swooshy skirt, I’m cold and thinking about fuzzy sweaters.

It’s pretty tasty and I think there’s a touch of smoke along with the base, unless that was from the caravan tea. There’s is a fruity note and just a touch of astringency but it makes me feel warm and cozy. This would be great in the fall.

So, this was added to my shopping list as well! Thanks TerriHarpLady and JustJames. (whoops. I got samples from both of you but I’ll enjoy every cup! )

Glad you like it! It does have a touch of smokiness to it.

It took me all day to drink this cup and finish my sample, but it was good, and deserves its plan my shopping list! (145)

So I’m working from home today, but I guess the emphasis is on working as I really haven’t had much tea today! I poured a cup of this from my timolino and wasn’t sure what it was.

My first thought was that it reminded me of BBQ sauce.

Now that I’ve shaken my head a bit, I can see that’s not the case, but there’s something odd about this blend that I can’t get my head around. It really reminds me of a dark twisty black tea that I’ve had – maybe Ceylon Spring, but oversteeped?

I can smell the chocolate in it though! And if I just relax and drink it, there is a bit of a chocolate taste to it. And honey. And malt. And the slightest bit of honey which is probably from the Yunnan. I don’t trust myself to rate this at the moment though. I"ll post this note and then sip on the rest of the cup, adding more as needed.

Next time I’ll try steeping it for half the time suggested. That might help, but with new teas I like to try their suggestions.

The best part of working from home is getting to brew tea all day long. :)

Tealizzy

Yes! Working from home is great for making lots of tea! And not in a microwave!!

TeaLady441

That’s definitely a perk! As well as having ALL my teas to choose from!

drank Kokomo Green by DAVIDsTEA
1598 tasting notes

So this tea has an average rating of 60. Wow. I don’t know that I’ve seen a DAVIDsTEA collectively that unpopular – maybe Aloha Pu-erh?

Anyway, I bought this on a whim/moment of weakness, and didn’t have any problems with it hot. I don’t really remember that cup, but this one shines when it’s chilled. Basically I threw a few generous scoops into my Takeya pitcher and let it sit overnight, and it’s very refreshing and light now. I’m tasting all the papaya and mango, as well as a touch of rose petals to give it a bit of something… else. But it’s balanced rather nicely and if it were sunny with blue skies I would have enjoyed the entire jug by now!

Sipdown! (146) And if this were one of the ones that were $14.50 for 250g I’d go for it. It’s nice to have cheap iced tea. I don’t know that I’d buy more at full-price though.

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more
Fjellrev

I didn’t realize the ratings were so low. I just randomly picked some up the other day with the intention of cold steeping it.

Kittenna

Cherry Cola, for low ratings? Haha :)

Nxtdoor

ugh, it’s just so bloody bitter, no matter what i do to it. even when I cold steep i get some bitterness.

TeaLady441

Kittena – OH YES. Yeah Cherry Cola was brutally awful and artificial.

And Nxtdoor – I don’t know what to say. :| Maybe I lucked out with this batch? Or I have no taste in iced teas? I did add a touch of agave to the mix, which might cover up any bitterness. #headscratcher

Nxtdoor

cavocorax, i still have lots so can still play with it now that i know someone had success. I had pretty much written it off.

TeaLady441

Good luck!

Tealizzy

I agree with Nxtdoor. It was bitter. Glad someone likes it though!

drank French Toast by 52teas
1598 tasting notes

French Toast for breakfast!

(I wish it really was french toast…)

I think I prefer this over the pancake breakfast tea. It’s heavier, and makes me think more of pastry/crusted toast. The cinnamon is very pleasant and not punch-you-in-the-face-strong, and I love all that maple.

It’s definitely not an every day tea, but it’s fun. And yes – no sugar required as this baby is sweet enough as it stands!

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 2 min, 30 sec
Fjellrev

Is the base astringent? I was going to get this but thought it would be to close to Pancake Breakfast, which I didn’t think was anything special.

Kittenna

This would be an everyday tea for me :D Just like Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecake.

TeaLady441

I didn’t find it to be astringent, but I usually don’t steep 52 Teas very long just to avoid that!

drank Peach Black Tea by PureAromaTea
1598 tasting notes

Woo! Sipdown 147!

It smells like peach! It tastes very similar to a peach drink too – a nice juicy without the buttloads of sugar you’d find if this was a canned beverage. The black base is present too, but it doesn’t really add or take anything away from the tea.

This reminds me of the peach version of DT’s Pom Tango though. Very bright and refreshing. Maybe someday I will place an order for PureAromaTea as this was good.

Thanks Sil!

as long as you like that “flavour” i’ve found nearly all their teas to be a good blend of tea + flavour. the straight teas have been really good too. as long as the price is comparable (which it is if i recall) then they’re a good option even coming across the ocean!

TeaLady441

Yeah those sample prices are very cheap, and judging from the bags you sent me, they look like they had a few cups in them too!

I’ll see how I feel after I try the other PureAroma sample you sent. And then I’ll wait a bit more because… hiatus!

Sil

they’re 25g samples so you get anywhere from 3-7 normal ppl sized cups? samples were more than enough for kittenna and i to share and even on the one we split 3 ways we had 1-3 cups free shipping at less than 50$ too

TeaLady441

Awesome! :) I think it’s under $30 for free shipping.

Sil

30 pounds – so there’s a conversion factor. But i’d order from them again (ie join order) they’re a step up from a lot of places, though now knock your socks off omg i must have this before i die OMG!! :)

TeaLady441

I’m sure we could arrange some kind of joint order.
And it’s “Free delivery for orders over $30.91” if you click on the US currency flag. :)

OMGsrsly

I’m interested! I keep looking at their website…

OMGsrsly

Although maybe we’ll have to do a West Coast and and East Coast order. :)

Sil

omg..they have some good stuff…. i’ve tried a BUNCH of them!

drank Jasmine Dragon Pearl by ZenTea

Note to self/others: do not cold steep in the fridge. Or, if you do, don’t use many pearls.

This is undrinkable.

OMGsrsly

Tastes like soap? :)

Ozli

Hahaha good to know as I love this tea and probably would have tried it cold eventually… :D

Ugh. I’m stressing out today and it’s silly because there’s nothing I can do about anything right now anyway, but I think that’s when a lot of us stress the most. We can’t help it.

So I’m drinking this tea. It’s comfort tea. I’ve never had a bad cup and it’s just good and simple. I might even indulge in a bit of milk and sugar to distract myself!

Also, this is distracting me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaLLUgR32fY (A violin cover of Gangham Style – it sounds so different!)

Kittenna

That’s so cool! I think one of the things on my bucket list would be to take violin lessons. I’m tentatively learning the guitar via Rocksmith with my boyfriend, but I so love the sound of the violin…

TeaLady441

That’s pretty awesome! Guitar is also really good.

And I found this video by listening to Lindsey Stirling – she’s the one who got me listening to violin music in the first place! http://www.youtube.com/user/lindseystomp

Kittenna

Addicted.
