1598 Tasting Notes
Woohoo! So I’m not completely jaded on tea. I drank two cups of this this morning and I am enjoying it! My left eye keeps twitching and that is… worrisome, but I imagine that’s from the lack of sleep as I’m not actually doing anything that would be stressing me. I’m at work, and looking at how to spend my birthday monies! (New kindle, Tardis tea, and new clothes for work!) Tomorrow is my actual birthday but we saw my family last weekend and they gave me presents then instead of waiting – I’m not complaining!
So, anyway. This is a great cup. I’m happy I can actually enjoy it again.
Oh and Bryan Lee O’Malley is tweeting like crazy about Southland Tales today, which I was a sucker for and was really excited about only to go… huh, afterwards. Preparation
This is pretty tasty but wow also very very sweet. I shouldn’t have added agave, but I didn’t realise they had sweetened it up so much too!
The upside is that most of my pitcher is gone already – everyone has a sweet tooth at here!
I don’t think I’d like this hot.
Preparation
Do you notice if agave changes the taste of the tea, like how honey adds sweeetness but also a honey flavour. Do you use plain agave or the flavoured stuff? I have never tried it in tea.
I didn’t notice too much of a difference, but that’s because there was already so much flavouring in it. I get agave sometimes with the go cups in the store, but I can’t really describe it. It’s smooth and sweet, but not quite like honey either.
Still, even with this tea there’s no joy. NO JOY. I even added cream…. I think going to bed at 11:30 and waking up at 4 is the culprit! So, lets cross our fingers for a good night’s sleep tonight and better luck tomorrow.
And I guess the Paperwhite would be a bad thing if I wanted to go to bed on time – a lighted ereader would just enable me to stay up loooonger. But imagine how much more I’d be able to read in a day!
Ech, 4am. I can barely handle waking up at 7am. Hope you can get a better rest, for sure.
I was just going to say, the Paperwhite can be a dangerous thing for avid readers. Kiss sleep goodbye.
Lol! I have a kindle and a headlamp, which is a dangerous combo. I can’t even imagine how much easier it would be with a. Paperwhite! Good luck resisting that temptation! :-)
Hahah. I think I am failing that. Birthday tomorrow and birthday money sitting in my pocket – very bad combo. :P
I guess I’ve got the tea blah’s today. Apparently! (Although it means I’m not that excited about ordering new tea either – good for my wallet?) But I’ve been drinking fancy ones too. :|
This one is good, but isn’t knocking my socks off. Sorry Sil. I’m pretty sure it’s me. I’ll save the rest of my sample for a day when I’m more relaxed and upbeat.

Shoot. I made this and then decided I wasn’t really in the mood for it as I want something punchier in flavour. :| Sorry Wild Purple Buds! At least I can tell from drinking this that puerh doesn’t have to mean dirtmouth and I’ll just have to try it again some other time!
I’m back! And back to drinking regular tea! I had a great mini-vacation visiting my family, even though I was a bit sad that I won’t see them again for at least a year while I’m in Toronto…
This is a great tea to jump back into things with though. I’m just going to drink and resteep it all morning. :)
I’m so damn sleepy though! My birthday is Friday but a lot of people gave me birthday money and I’m sorta really tempted to buy a Paperwhite Kindle, even though my Kindle Keyboard is perfectly fine… (but it’s NEW! SHINY! BRIGHTER!) I basically just stayed up too late because I was debating whether I should order it now to get it for Friday, but it’s not a good idea to make that choice when you’re sleepy, AND I can buy it in-store at The Source IF I decide to actually do it, so I’ll just wait.
And now I gotta caffeinate myself back up!!! Stupid me for staying up so late, but I also wasn’t expecting to wake up at 4:30 and not fall back asleep.
Resist the lure of shiny newness! :D I currently have an iPhone 4, and have been lusting after a 5 for a while… but until my iPhone 4 ceases to function (I’ve had it 2.5 years), I am making myself resist. (Granted, I had a Nokia brick for like, 6 years, until I moved to Ontario).
Kittenna, that’s an impressive amount of time for an iPhone! My 3G died at about that time and I love my 4S. I personally think it’s nicer than my friends 5.
I do agree – resist the lure! Buy… more tea? Wait. That probably doesn’t help. :)
My boyfriend has had his 3G (3GS??) for even longer – and it’s still kicking! However, it is experiencing issues (speaker broken, dies randomly at 60% life), and his contract is now up, so he’s going to get something new.
Resisting the lure is so hard though. I’ve sorta been thinking about it for a few months now… :|
But aside from not having a light, the KK is just fine. :| (I’m sorta a new gadget fiend though! hah)
I hear nothing but grrrrreat things about that Kindle!
Haha, yeah, you and me both Cavo. I get a new iPhone just as soon as my contract is up and they release the new one (I’m tied to the “S” cycle, so new phone for me this fall!).
Oooh you guys. :O So tempting! But… there’s a good chance they’ll announce a new Kindle this fall, and so maybe I should wait until Christmas? But… if they announce it, it might not end up in Canada until next year anyways…. #impatience :P
And Dinosara – yeah as soon as my contract is up it’s immediately new phone time. Well even sooner, as our contracts are 3 years. I can make it about 2 before… my phones start to act up and need replacement. #curiously

Ok, this is kind of spooky…..my H&S is due to arrive on July 8 too! I ordered Sunday June 23 – I thought the long delay might have been bc they had that little sale? Anyway, I am all out of hot cinnamon spice…..trying not to succumb to Williams Sonoma’s extortion price of $14.99 for 20 sachets (vs. $8 online…..)….will see……

Wow – that is a delay! We ordered on the 25th. We missed the sale but someone on Steepster gave me a coupon code! H&S is great, but I’m never ordering unless I get some kind of deal to balance against the shipping.
shipping anything anywhere i brutal these days. and it’s hard to tell with gas prices versus business discounts who is being straight up about their costs and who is playing the part of shipping cougar. there are some vendors that i wouldn’t complain about (verdant and butiki), and others that i have heard are good that don’t charge at all? i am getting samples from teavivre and they aren’t charging me anything… it’s all so gloriously unclear.
i guess it boils down if the company has my loyalty i might gripe, but i’ll still buy. lately i’ve been in the midst of ordering, see that the shipping charge and cancel it. sigh… i hate unrealized tea potential.
I agree about shipping. Adagio’s $35 fee to Canada is ridiculous. H&s’s $15+ does because they ship UPS with tracking and duties/taxes included. I wish more places had the option for USPS like Butiki and others do as I’d rather wait 2 weeks and buy more tea than pay shipping costs.
I don’t actually mind the $15 H&S, as they do seem to have fairly regular sales, and if you order more than a sample, it comes in a tin. I’m in awe of the tins. :)
Same thing with Della Terra. Their shipping is $$, but with their frequent 25-40% off sales, that covers the cost if you spend $40-50.
Yeah I agree about H&S! I was trying to say it made sense. :) And you’re right – catching sales definitely helps male it easier to swallow! I just wish USPS was an option for more places, but I guess that complicates the shipping for those companies. St least that was the excuse Adagio gave me.
I’ve been tracking my H&S order and it hasn’t moved since 28 June. It’s still in the Eastern US. I don’t know why it couldn’t have kept moving through the US on Canada day…..last time it shipped from NY to Washington state……getting worried…..come on package, come to Canada!
I notice that there were no updates either for mine – I’m guessing it’s because it crossed the border and it takes a bit of time for it to cross and start getting tracked again. I wouldn’t worry so long as you haven’t hit your delivery date. I think my first order did that too and it showed up exactly when they estimated it would.
I wish it were the 8th already though! Hahah.
Sipdown! I’ve been on holiday since Thursday, which means lots of visiting, operating new tea kettles, and not getting much computer time. Now we’re visiting my bf’s family and relaxing at their house. It’s pretty great.
This tea was too. Even though I’m getting jaded on some of DT’s blends, I’m happy I found this.
So 5 hours sleep last night was a bad idea, but I didn’t have much choice. #excuses We are going to visit family (his and mine) the next few days, so I had to get all my stuff packed up and ready to go so that he could pick me up right from work and we could leave Vancouver before traffic gets crazy. (Which also required me starting work at 6:30)
So. Tiger Assam! Bold! Should have resteeped.

oh, PROBABLY. I gotta love my dystopia underdog stories ;) Netflix has it, if you have that (it’s super cheap)
