Day 1 of my homemade advent calendar: strawberry teas

I actually thought this was a black tea, which is why it took me so long to review it. Today is a caffeine day! When I went to add this to the system I found the website for the product and apparently it is herbal. I added milk and brewed it at almost boiling. So far, my brew is pink but the milk hasn’t curdled.

There is a strawberry flavour, but no tart hibiscus or rose hips. The tea brews up to be a lovely pink. There really isn’t a lot to say about it, since there aren’t any interesting nuances. Just strawberry, not totally artificial but not very natural either.

Flavors: Fruity, Strawberry

Preparation
Boiling 4 min, 45 sec

I love you made your own advent. Well, if you make it far enough in advance, you might forget which teas for which days! haha.

It could work if you wrapped your teas and simply didn’t number them — had 24 unnumbered, wrapped tea packages, and you selected them at random. You could even put more than 24 in there, to up the surprise factor. You might know which you put “into the pool”, but as you picked a random wrapped package and unwrapped it, you still wouldn’t know which tea you were getting each day!

Another cool idea.. it would definitely make an old stash of teas more interesting again!

I’ve decided to just pick a theme each day. I didn’t want to make up a physical calendar because I don’t feel like searching my basement to find the cloth one. xD I’d trying to drink samples and things from my focus both, but I do enjoy the themed days.

Themed days can be interesting too, even if you didn’t make an actual calendar. :D

Those that read my reviews have probably noticed that I have a theme to my tea-drinking every month, so it works. Especially when you have a “too many teas” problem and need a way to try to focus in on and narrow the group. :-)

Bio

I am a biochem major hoping for a career in research genetics and evolutionary biology. I love science fiction and spend too much of my time reading comic books. I’m a passionate keeper of spiders, cacti, and exotic plants. I eat a vegan, plant-based diet for moral and environmental reasons (I mention this only because it is relevant to which flavoured teas I drink).

I drink mostly flavoured and low caffeine teas/tisanes, but I will try anything twice. As far as pure teas go, I gravitate towards whites, yellows, and jade oolongs. I’m always open for trades and sample sales/exchanges. Message me any time :)

My cupboard is mostly up to date. For a more comprehensive list, see my stash spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-HjWKR3um-xEnj6HC9vMvKXOAyj_bpW5u_2ixEC20-k/edit?usp=sharing
