My before bed tea. I’m already having trouble keeping my eyes open, so I’m guessing I’ll be in dreamland after finishing this cup. In bed before 10… I don’t know if I’m proud of myself or appalled.
This is a great tisane when I want something different from the sweet herbals I normally drink. It’s herbaceous and clean with enough heat from the ginger to keep things interesting. Nice.
I’m almost out of this one, so I’ll have to find a replacement for it pretty soon. Maybe I can find a tea that’ll also help ease my allergies since spring is right around the corner.
Sad, sad sipdown. I have enjoyed this little gem of a tea that I received in a swap from Artp. A friend of his brought it back from India, and Artp was kind enough to offer some for trade. This tea has all of the lovely muscatel flavors and a nice astringency that isn’t overpowering. The second steep of this tea has always been my favorite, and today is no exception. The grape-y flavor with and underlying earthiness is good, good, good. Yep, I’m going to miss this one.
Preparation
Such banana goodness! It is fruity and sweet with the coconut adding to the tropical flavor and lending a bit of creaminess. Yum. I have enjoyed every cup of this. I find it impossible to be anything less than cheerful when sipping on this tea. It’s fun and playful, whispering of hot sunny days and bike rides after dinner. After this tasty treat I have just enough leaf left for one more cup. I will not hoard it, I will not hoard it, I will not hoard it….
I will not hoard it, but I will repurchase!
Preparation
This was last night’s before bed tea. Yet another tea I “rediscovered” in my swap basket. This is a lovely tisane. The honeybush gives it a creamy taste making it a wonderful peaches and cream tea. The apricot is more noticeable as the tea cools, but I’ll have a hard time think of this as anything other than a great peaches and cream herbal. Thanks again Lariel for this one!
Flavors: Apricot, Cream, Peach

More snow. I am so thoroughly sick of snow that when I received the phone calls at 4:50 this morning saying that the start of school was being delayed for two hours I wanted to pull the covers over my head and weep. Instead I said some not very nice words about the weather and went back to sleep for a few hours.
Now that I’m awake and have the kids up and moving (hopefully) I need something nice and strong to help us get out the door. O’Sullivan’s Favourite it is. Plus it’s St. Patrick’s Day, so I’ll get bonus points from my kids when I point out that they’re drinking an Irish breakfast tea. And I’ll get to enjoy the rich, malty, bready goodness that I have come to adore.
Okay, so it’s not such a horrible start to the day, but I still hate the snow.
Preparation
Found this sample lingering in the bottom of the basket where I keep swaps and small samples. It’s been there for a year (in a clear plastic bag), so this tea could be past its prime. Still, it sounds yummy, so into the brew basket it goes.
There is a good amount of creamy vanilla flavor here, but there’s not much blueberry. I get little hints of berry as the tea cools, but this is more of a vanilla tea than a blueberry one. I’ll have to go back and look at my original tasting note to see how I felt about this tea when it first went into my swap basket.
Edit: I read my original tasting note for this tea, and my thoughts about it were pretty much the same. At least I’m consistent. :)
A friend gave me a chai to sample, but I have no idea what company it’s from. It is really sweet with a lot of cinnamon and anise. This normally isn’t my thing, but in this chai it works. With the additional spices and a nice Assam base it is a nice wintery tea. Not something I’d buy for myself, but I’ve enjoyed trying this one.
Preparation
I took OMGsrsly’s advice and added a little sweetened condensed milk to my tea this morning. Actually, she suggested adding it to iced tea, and I added it to hot tea. Regardless it was a great idea. It absolutely takes this tea to another level. So insanely good. It became a smooth, creamy, maple-y sweet cup of yumminess and easily one of my favorite dessert teas.
Preparation
It’s been a while since I’ve indulged in a before bed tea. This one is as lovely as always. For such a simple tea it is also sweetly decadent. Love being able to enjoy this and still get some shut eye.
Flavors: Vanilla
Preparation
This is such a rich tea. I am really loving the depth of flavor here. It’s nice and malty with a wonderful dark cocoa flavor. It is a bit dry on the back of my throat, but it is not an overly astringent tea. I’m glad this one found its way back into my cup. I forgot how delicious it is!
Flavors: Cocoa, Malt
nettles are good for that I hear
Thanks! I’ll have to give that a try.
