drank Banana Pudding Black Tea by 52teas
1118 tasting notes

Drinking my last cup of this one. I have loved, loved, loved the banana coconut dessert that is this tea. I’d be happy to reorder this once I get my current number of teas wheedled down a bit. This is, hands down, my favorite banana tea to date.

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 15 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

drank Cotton Candy by Southern Boy Teas
1118 tasting notes

I made this yesterday afternoon as a treat for my kids (and myself). They each inhaled a glass when they got home from school and then continued drinking it through dinner. It is definitely a big hit around here.

I was able to sneak a glass for myself, and the sweet spun sugar taste is really delicious. It immediately made me think of picnics, birthday parties and waking on the boardwalk in Ocean City. Happy thoughts with a happy tea!

So my kids have decided that we need Cotton Candy, Bubblegum, and Watermelon SBT on hand always. I have a few other teas to add to that list, so it looks like we’ll be planning an order with Frank sooner rather than later.

VariaTEA

So does the SBT version taste better than the normal Cotton Candy black?

Veronica

Yeah, it does. It actually taste like cotton candy rather than generically sweet.

VariaTEA

Oh cool. Perhaps I will have to pick that up the next time I get SBTs. I have so many right now because I made the mistake of letting my brother chose what he wanted – that is how I wound up with Maple Bacon :P.

drank Lemon Chiffon by Della Terra Teas

My before bed tea. My husband is planning on staying is staying awake so he can play the new Diablo III expansion. I, on the other hand, am counting down the seconds until my head hits the pillow. I’m happy to have this sweet, creamy, lemony treat to help me unwind. Tonight’s cup was really good. So bright and full of citrus without any of the woody rooibos flavor that I’m not overly fond of. Yay for yummy herbals!

Preparation
Boiling 6 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML
Angrboda

Husband has been excited about the Diablo thing as well. (Or Dibley as it’s commonly called in this household) He came home from work and made a bee-line for his room with a silly little-boy grin on his face. It’ll be interesting to see if I can lure him out when dinner’s ready. :p

Veronica

My husband was up until 3am (at least that’s what he told me). I brewed him a pot of coffee before he left, and he made himself a pot as soon as he got to work. And we’ll do this all. week. long. :)

drank Graveyard Mist Green Tea by 52teas
1118 tasting notes

I cold brewed this one and had some this afternoon. I’m still on the fence about liking it. My initial thought was that it was much better hot because the marshmallow-y notes are more apparent. However, halfway through the glass I found myself loving the spearmint flavor. It was so cool and refreshing. I think I’m still leaning toward keeping this for hot tea, but if anyone offered me the iced tea version I wouldn’t pass it by.

drank Masala Chai by Wegmans
1118 tasting notes

The weather has turned cold again, so I thought a nice chai would be a good way to start the day. To make it a little more special, and to tempt my daughter to the kitchen table, I added homemade cinnamon vanilla syrup to our cups instead of honey or regular sugar. It was an absolute stroke of brilliance on my part. It took the tea to a whole new level. The chai I use is pretty light on the cinnamon, so the additional spice in the syrup didn’t mess up the balance of spices in the tea. The vanilla lended a smoothness that turned this into a new tea in the best possible way. I’ll definitely add this syrup to our chai -and probably many other teas – from now on.

I wish I lived closer to a Wegmans…sigh.

drank Ambrosia by Adagio Custom Blends

After my peach iced tea I was still in a fruity tea mood, but I had to stop with the caffeine. This tisane immediately came to mind, so into my cup it went. Peaches and cream yumminess. This is a perfect way to wind down while reading old tasting notes and pretending tomorrow isn’t Monday.

Boiling 4 min, 15 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Cold brewed this and have been sipping it sweetened with some simple syrup. The peach flavor is nice, and I even tasted more of the apricot notes this time. The next time I make this I think I’m going to hot brew it and then ice it so that I get more of the woody flavor as well.

I’m enjoying having multiple iced teas in my fridge again. I think I might find some herbals to cold brew, too. Night time iced tea sipping!

drank Irish Breakfast by Wegmans
1118 tasting notes

It’s been months since I’ve had this one because I automatically reach for O’Sullivan’s Favourite when I think of Irish Breakfast. That’s a shame because this is a very solid tea. There is a nice maltiness and the flavor of good bread. It is a bit thick reminding me of coffee (a good thing in my opinion). Of course it takes milk and sugar like a dream. A very nice offering overall, and one that should find its way into my teapot far more often.

Flavors: Bread, Leather, Malt

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 45 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
gmathis

Sounds dreamy! Not sure how far east I’d have to drive (Missouri) before hitting a Wegmans. Isn’t it nice to find a solid, reliable store brand?

Veronica

It is nice having a good store brand! To be honest I feel really spoiled by my grocery store’s tea section. It’s huge! I’ve moved around enough to know I’m really lucky.

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons
1118 tasting notes

Last tea of the day. I sipped on this while waiting for my daughter to finish the final performance of her school’s spring musical. This year they performed The Secret Garden, and I have to say the kids did an amazing job. Anyway, it was nice to have this always lovely decaf on hand to enjoy while they were breaking down the backdrops and props. It took much longer than I thought it would, but it was great to see them all having fun and working together.

Given how much I like this tea I think I will add Harney and Sons Vanilla Black to my shopping list. I probably won’t place an order with them until the fall, but vanilla tea is good any time of the year! :)

V/Comoro is a wonderful blender-inner, too!
