1118 Tasting Notes
Tea of the morning. This is a really good breakfast tea. It’s smokey, malty, and sweet with a good amount of strength and body. Definitely something that’ll get me going in the morning. I also think this tea would be awesome served with bacon and eggs. [Note to self: try that out later this week.] The sweetness in the tea reminds be a little of baked grapefruit, but that could just be my brain being stuck in breakfast mode.
I can see why this tea is called December. It is a comforting, welcome home type tea. Something that would warm body and soul after being out in the cold for a while. I can see myself really enjoying this one in a different way once the cold weather sets in, but for now this is going next to my other breakfast teas so I can enjoy December all summer.

A very enjoyable Oolong. The taste is toasty with a steady cinnamon note and bit of a mineral flavor. I’ve had four steeps of this so far, and the flavor has been consistent with each cup. I’ve been enjoying this one so much that I haven’t tried any other teas today!
Preparation
That’s one of the things I love about a good oolong. I can sit and drink it for hours, the same leaves.
@Cheri – Sometimes I get bored with them and give up on the leaves before they’re truly spent. I should remember to cold steep them, but I always forget. Won’t be an issue with this tea though. :)
@ Cameron B. – This was my first cinnamon oolong. I was impressed!
Tea of the morning. I was in the mood for sweet and fruity today, and the pineapple in this is exactly what I was wanting. I also enjoy the base tea. It has a bright grassy note that’s strong enough to cut through the fruit flavor giving the tea some added interest.

Oooh, this tea reminds me of a baked sweet potatoes with honey on it. The tea is smooth with a nice hit of malt, but the sweet potato flavor really is the star. A great tea, and one I’d love to try more of at some point.
Preparation
Wow, Brenden went and upped his game. He said months ago that he switched the base tea to a higher grade lapsang. It adds longan fruit and stronger honey notes. It. Is. Amazing. I really didn’t think it was possible for me to like this tea more, but I do. Holy frickin’ yum!
The spice blend continues to impress me. It’s well balanced lending to the smoothness of the tea. The smoke flavor is strong but not harsh. In fact, it’s sweet and does a great job of blending with the spices. I keep coming back to the base tea – it’s so good! If this wasn’t already one of my favorite teas it would be now.
…and my daughter just came in and stole my cup. Time to go resteep. ;)
Preparation
Woot! :) Glad you like it more! I certainly do too! I’ve realized recently how much of a comfort tea this one is – definitely my favorite chai!
Oh my goodness… love it. And this is definitely a comfort tea. I find it impossible to drink this and not smile.

I think this is the first white tea that’s made me do a double take at my mug. It’s so wonderfully summery, full of hay and honeysuckle notes with a hint of apricot right at the end. The tea has a sort of fuzzy feeling to it which I didn’t think I would like, but it works here. This is also a very refreshing tea. I’d love to try it iced. This, iced on a hot summer’s day, would be perfect. I don’t currently have a white tea in my cupboard, but I’ll likely pick up some of this with my next WPT order.
Preparation
I always have my white teas in the summer, this one is a keeper, makes an excellent cold brew, so soft and summery.

First, the leaves of this tea are so pretty – long and golden, twisted tightly into place. The smell of the dry leaves is very sweet. It reminds me of homemade caramel sauce. After steeping the caramel smell is replaced by the smell of baked bread. Yum.
This tea reminds me of a good grainy bread with honey drizzled on it. There are malty and caramel notes, too, but it’s the biscuity flavor that has me swooning. I can see myself drinking a lot of this tea. Another one added to my shopping list.
Preparation
It’s really good! I’ve never oredered from Mandala before, but my first order is going to be awesome for me and painful to my pocketbook! :)

Tea of the morning. A nice Assam. It’s smooth and malty with a touch of astringency. There’s also a sweetness – a brown sugar like flavor – that is most present before the tea cools. Holds up well to milk and sugar, but I think I appreciate this tea more sans additions.

I’ve only had two infusions of this one so far, but I’m enjoying them quite a bit. The flavor is roasty and nutty with a touch of floral right at the end. All of the flavors are mild without begin too subtle making this easy to sip and savor while carrying on with other things.
Single Origin Teas has really impressed me with the quality of their teas. There are a few more in the box, and I’m looking forward to trying them all.
I love a good “that is all” review once in a while… ;-)
Lol. I should have followed up with: Go make this now. You’re welcome. :)
I think I might just do that right now!!
