1118 Tasting Notes
Love this EGC. There’s a hint of bergamot, but it’s mostly lemon with a smooth creamy note. So, so good.
Although I’m happy to have another sipdown, I’m really sad to see this one go. It’ll definitely make a reappearance in my cabinet!

Preparation
I have not missed waking up at 6 am every morning, but my kids go back to school today which means I go back to my early-to-bed-early-to-rise schedule. sigh Summer, I miss you already.
Well, if i have to be awake then this is a great tea to have in my cup. This one came to me from Dinosara via a swap on Ravelry. I’m surprised I haven’t logged it before because my bag is almost empty. The is wonderfully sweet and smokey. The LS is lighty done, so even though there is smoke it doesn’t overwhelm the Darjeeling or the Keemun . I like the floral note here, and I think both the Darkeeling and the Keemun lend a wine-y asspect to the tea that is so good.
I’ll definitely pick up more of this once my little pouch is empty, but I still have a little of this one left. That means this isn’t a sipdown, but it is still progress. Yummy, yummy progress.

I received this as a sample when I placed a H&S order earlier this summer. It smelled incredibly strong in the box. I was so thankful all of my teas were in tins! Yesterday I decided to make a big container of this (one tea bag will make a gallon of tea). I cooled it to room temperature before putting it in the fridge. Tonight I pulled it out for dinner, and it was well received. The passion fruit flavor is spot on, and even though the smell of the dry leaves and while steeping was so strong the tea itself isn’t overly floral or perfume-y. It’s fruity and sweet (thanks to the sugar I added after it steeped).
This is definitely a tea I’d consider purchasing, but for now I’m happy it’s another sipdown.

This sample came to me from Lariel forever and ever ago. Thank you!
This is a nice herbal, but I can’t say that there’s much in the way of orange flavor. Strangely enough, the rooibos isn’t over strong either. There’s just a sort of generic sweetness throughout the cup. It’s not bad, but I don’t get “orange” from it. It could be due to age as the sample is almost a year old. Regardless, I was happy to try it, and I had no trouble finding the bottom of my cup!

This was a middle of the road Earl Grey for me. The bergamot is there, but it’s not as strong as some other people have mentioned. The base tea is also fairly weak which isn’t something I look for in an Earl Grey. It was definitely decent and easy enough to drink, but unfortunately it’s also rather forgettable.

Preparation
This is a light genmaicha, but a nice one. There is a creaminess to the tea and clear grassy flavor with a hint of something vegetal. The rice flavor is present throughout the sip, but, as I mentioned before, it’s a light flavor. I don’t mind this since it gives the green tea, which is very nice, a chance to shine.
Another sipdown. I’m glad I gave this one a try!

Preparation
Tea of the morning. I’ve said this before, but this is an excellent breakfast tea. It’s bold with malt and cocoa notes and a light smokiness at the end of the sip. There’s also a citrus like note in this tea that I find incredibly pleasing in the morning. Just a little bit of brightness to help me wake up and face the day.
This is a sad sipdown. I’m going to miss having this in my cupboard.
Speaking of sipdowns, I’m going to track how many samples I actually manage to finish in the month of September. Hopefully this will help keep me motivated!

I don’t normally consider chais calming, but this one certainly is. There are lots of cedar and pine notes at the start of the sip followed by spice and then the holy basil. Through the entire sip there is a lovely buttery smoothness that just makes me want to take my time and enjoy each sip. So good.
For some reason this tea reminds me of the holidays. If I were to imagine an ideal Christmas-y tea it would be something awfully close to this. The spice gives the festive note, the cedar and pine goes back to nature, and the holy basil gives a calming feeling that I often desperately want/need at that time of year. Not that I would only drink this tea around the holiday season, but you can bet Santa’s milk and cookies that I’ll have a ready supply of it by then!
Thank you kimquat for sending some of this my way!
Tea of the morning, and such a good one, too. Chocolate, malt, cherry, vanilla, and a sweetness right at the end… this tea has it all. Love it!
Thanks, Blodeuyn, for sharing this one with me! It’s fabulous! :)
Preparation
Tea of the morning. This tea has such a great mix of flavors. There’s stone fruit, malt, bread, spice (my first thought is very light cinnamon, but now I’m thinking all spice), and honey. I steeped the leaves three times, and each cup was soooo good. I have one teaspoon of this beauty left, but it’s already on my wishlist and is soon to be in my cupboard in a much larger quantity.
