709 Tasting Notes
Had the fourth steep of this with my breakfast. We steeped it far longer this time, and it came out with a strong floral flavour. I still get a hintof something almost spicy, like a half second of ginger. I can’t explain it, but I like it!
Preparation
Had some of this tonight. It was from a different batch than the one we have at home. much more mint. Anyway, I became extremely sleepy very shortly after starting to drink my cup. It might have been coincidence, but I was definitely tired. I always have an issue with the chamomile taste in this (I hate chamomile!) but it’s still one I turn to sometimes after a long day…or week…or month. : )
Preparation
Bcaklog: Made a travel mug full of this to take to a friend’s tonight. Oh my, THIS was the vanilla comoro I wanted. Rich, creamy, vanilla, caramel, tea, delicious. I think I just need to be a little more generous with the tea to really get that depth of flavour. I also see things that could, potentially, be construed as specks!
Preparation
Satisfied my desire for tea, albeit not my desire for chai. I think I want a good strong proper stovetop chai. Still nice, though thin.
Preparation
Have you had the Teavana chai? I know, I know – it’s Teavana. But their blend is the best. I have plenty if you want some. PM me. :)
I’ve never had Teavana…Though I’ve got the impression that they’re the Walmart of teas, LOL. Teavana doesn’t exist in my province…and maybe not in Canada at all? (Obviously online exists though.. :D)
Uniquity – if you want some, let me know, I can send you some. Not sure if it’s in Canada or not. Teavana is really expensive that’s why I always groan when I reference it. But I’ve been all over trying chais (I’ve gotten around – heehee) and they have the best. Anyhoo, just PM me if you want it. :)
This was my “get to work” tea today…A great routine to get into. Not much new to say – It has a goood taste – sweet and fruit. Can steep forever since it’s a rooibos, and it makes an awesomely ugly green colour. I find todays mug a little muted, but I was recently chewing mint gum, so that is likely the cause. By the way, mint is, surprisingly, pretty okay with this tea. Maybe I’ll do a cup with some peppermint thrown in some time and see what happens!
Preparation
Interesting about the mint and rooibos tea going well together. I actually went into a DT chewing minty gum of some sort, and they offered me a sample of Rooibos de Provence. I assumed it would taste awful since I had been chewing gum (and it ruins many things, particularly drinks), but I tried it anyways and could taste the amazingness along with the gum. Strange!
This was my breakfast tea today and let it be known that I think I have found my apple tea. Sawadee really is a delight – The beau and I think we found our ideal strawberry there yesterday (a rooibos, he had a mug while we were there) and we boguht some of this apple to try at home. Brewed it this morning using black tea guidelines, but there was no need. Some of the tea sat in the pot steeping for an extra 10 – 15 minutes and it never got bitter at all. There is not a strong black tea taste, but it’s a great base and accompaniment to the delicious apple. I didn’t get any of that chemical or artificial apple flavour I’ve gotten from most other apple teas, and I could see the chunks of actual apple floating in the tea. Great taste – Sure to buy more!!
Preparation
Ack! You’ve done it again and I’m actually really tempted by this place, if only because it’s in Halifax. Some of their blends look amazingly tasty though. Might have to put an order together when the money comes in. Which they had their teaware on the website, though!
Their website is extremely out of date – I actually talked to the owner about that when I was there yesterday. There was somebody helping her, but in the age old tradition he became too busy.
I highly advise a Sawadee order…if you have long distance, I would also advise giving them a call. I’m sure the owner (I don’t know her name, sorry!) would be willing to help you out re: teawares – maybe photos or something? If she can’t, I could certainly give it a go!
I’ve been a David’s devotee since the beginning, but I love a good independent store, especially if it’s got the quality to back it up.
I will definitely have to look in to that, especially if I can find cute teapots at a good price! If only we had the money now, my mother in law is flying out to the Halifax area on Monday, I could force her to bring me home tea LOL.
I will definitely give them a call, if only to get an updated tea list. I love Davids and can’t imagine ever giving my money to any other big company like Teaopia (crap service around here anyway, and terrible quality), but for independent stores I think I’m more than happy to make an exception.
I would work the mother in law angle, if I were you! There’s gotta be an anniversary, birthday or other holiday around now, right?
The beau bought 6 of these tonight. We’d never had a flowering tea before and he went a bit overboard…Luckily, it all worked out! I’m not so clear on what is in this tea, but I can say that it is absolutely delicious. I always think I don’t like floral teas, but it’s not true. I don’t like chamomile yet, but every other floral tea I have is delicious. For $2.50 apiece (we got a discount buying 6, and got a free tin to store them in) they are a treat in the teapot, but a delightful tea as well. The tea is very mild tasting, and sort of sweet. Natural sweet though, the way that vegetables can be. I really am enjoying it. We’re on our second steep already…Hopefully we get a few more.
((This one really opened up on the first steep and is really pretty!!))
ps – I get a hint of spiciness on the sip, but the beau doesn’t. Not sure why. We both agree that this (the second steep) is more flavourful than the first. Also, I’m loving my new koi teacup for this lovely tea!
Preparation
Had a cup of this today at Sawadee tea house. I was there for the first time and I LOVE it. Good teas, lovely owner, great teacups. I walked out with three teas, two teacups and big plans to return. Often. ((The beau also bought two teacups and three teas…)
Anyway, this is a nice chai. Mild, no ((EDIT: green)) cardamom or strong flavours. Didn’t pick up the vanilla at all, but I really enjoyed this. Bought a tin to take home and enjoy. So pleased with Sawadee…and still feeling the burn on my tongue from the pepper (The last little bit had sat in the press an extra five minutes or so and got spicy! This chai is more of a spicy chai than a gingerbread chai, but I like it!
Preparation
Oh my, have I fallen for you. When I’m looking for a more classic tea taste, you are the lady for me! The lemon/citrus is pretty front and centre, but this is a big switch from my normal berry flavoured teas. Love it!
