Second steep came out quite smokey (don’t know why!) with maple flavour, but almost like maple bacon or something…not that it tastes like bacon, but that the maple has been heated and started to caramelize slightly. Still quite tasty, and I love any tea that can yield multiple steeps.

Have you ever tried this tea in… Maple Water? :) SIMPLY DELICIOUS!

Haven’t had this in 6 months? Really? Silly girl. This was another treat reclaimed from the back of our cupboard. Rather than being 7 or 8 deep on one shelf in the cupboard, our teas now live 3 or 4 deep on these little DIY shelving units we bought. I’m quite a fan of the new setup, really.

Anyway, Oh Canada! My home and native land…I love my country, I love Maple syrup. This is good. There are candies and caramel bits in the tea. Also good. I love sprinkles in my tea, (sometimes). Dry, this smells mapley, but a coworker said “not quite”. I disagree, but oh well. Steeped, even my coworker had to admit that this smells like maple syrup.

The taste is wonderfully maple, and I was getting a weird almost french vanilla cappuchino taste today. That was a fantastic thing though, as I enjoy cappuchinos, but not the sugar and fat in them. This is a richer, ‘thicker’ sort of flavour than most rooibos’, likely because of the addition of caramel. I think it was a wise choice, and this (much like mojito!) is actually becoming a fast favourite after months of solitude in my shelf. Luckily, this is part of the permanent collection, so i can replenish at will. I think this might actually be one of David’s Tea’s yummiest sweet rooibos!

As I carry on my mug, I’ve noticed that the taste thins out a bit as it cools. As with syrup (for me!) this is a bit better warm than cool, but delicious either way.

What kind of shelves did you get? I’m looking for ideas for tea organization. I heard about CD organizing boxes to hold the packets.

Uniquity

We just picked up two shelves at Zellers. They were $20 each and only three feet by 1 by 1. They’ve each got two movable shelves. We put them side by sied so it looks like a bigger unit, and they’ve got all our tea, some pretty journals and part of our liquor cabinet (we’re running out of room in the apartment! :D) I don’t know if it’s ideal, but it holds it all, they’re not too deep and it’s not hidden away. We put some of our favourite teawares on top for display.

@QuiltGuppy – me too – spill, Uniquity! :)

@Uniquity – I love maple: candies, REAL syrup, the works. This tea sounds beyond heavenly…

Uniquity

It doesn’t quite live up to real syrup, but it also doesn’t carry the real syrup price tag, so I can live with that! : )

I’ll try to remember to take a pic of my setup and put it on here. It’s nothing snazzy, but I like it.

Wasn’t there a thread before of people’s tea cabinets? That would be a fun one to do again, or to add to… like the fave teacup thread. Although, I’d rather die than post a photo of my tea mess that spreads out across multiple cabinets. Actually, just today, I picked up seven of the CD holders to see if I can get most of it organized. :) (Fingers crossed!)

Congratulations! I’ve got a little wicker basket I use for some of my sample bags. Luckily most of my teas are tinned, so they are semi stackable. Yay for stacking!

Oh my. oh my oh my oh my. No time to drink it hot today, but I had a few sips when it was lukewarm and it was PERFECT! I got cream cheese, I got blueberry, I got danish and icing drizzle. It was great! Unfortunately there were a few leaves floating at the bottom so it got a little bitter over time because of continued steeping, but this is just amazing. Yummy!!

Very sharp lemon taste today. I like this tea, but I’ve found so many other greats in recent times that it’s been put to the back of the cupboard. A recent relocation of all our teas had us rediscovering old favourites…and this is one of them!

Second steep…All the little bits of mint and rooibos are floating at the top of my mug…I love watching tea steep! This steep is a little weaker than others have been in the past, but I’m also dealing with a larger mug than I’m used to. I don’t think I’ll push it to a third today, but this second is really quite good. It is more of a true mint flavour, since most of the creamy and tea aspects backed off in the first. Not a sharp mint, still true to the mojito flavour, but really good. I so love this tea, even if the liquor does look nasty like swampwater in my blue mug. : )

KeenTeaThyme

OK, you’re the unofficial spokesperson for David’s Tea, right? I’ve figured you out? lol

I’m actually going to treat myself to that perfect tea mug you mentioned your guy bought you. I need a larger mug for work -w/infuser is bonus. Seems like it is working well for you… (lucky)

Uniquity

: ) I am overfond of David’s Tea…I think largely due to the lack of tea shops in my area. There are only three independents and one chain (the chain being David’s Tea). I’m not much of an internet shopper as I like to smell and see things first (exceptions being 52Teas and Joy’s Teaspoon!) I also prefer strongly flavoured teas, which is what DT does best : )

I’m sure there are lots of other mugs out there that would work, for a better price ($20 is a bit steep, in my books) but it’s super cute and I’ve wanted one for a while. I’ve recently developed a bit of a teacup obsession to go nicely with my journal, book, tea obsessions.

Yay! Now that the spring teas are out, it’s getting ever closer to summer teas, which just might bring us closer to…more mojito! I really hope it comes back, or at least a very similarly delicious cousin does. The spring focus on coconut was a big turn-off for me, and I hope they leave that behind for this year’s summer blends.

I’m enjoying a nice steaming mug of mojito (with my standard extra dash of spearmint)…in my new perfect tea mug! The beau caught on! : ) He got me the blue spring one with the pretty birds on it, and it adds a lovely dash of style and convenience to my tea drinking habits. Who doesn’t love to drink the taste of summer out of the beauty of spring? David’s Tea, you really know the way to this girl’s heart! I think my current favourite aspect of this mug, style aside, is that it holds nearly as much as my travel mug, but allows for very precise steeping…and soon enough, re-steeping!

As for the tea: there’s nothing new to say. Creamy limey vanillay minty flavour, super delicious. Never gets bitter, never needs sweetener and always lives up to my expectations.

I still don’t get even a hint of vanilla flavour in this chai, but it is quite yummy as a standard spice chai. The beau offered me gingerbread chai again this morning but I think I need to ration it, so I went for this one. This is more of a spicy chai with cinnamon and pepper flavours, but it’s really nice. Actually quite similar to David’s Tea’s Saigon Chai, at least by my memory. I’ll have to do a taste test someday. Anyway, I love chai, so this is a lovely treat!

EDIT: For today, the rating goes up for it’s versatility. It’s good hot, it’s good cold. It didn’t do so great in stovetop, but that was my fault. Delish.

Helly, My Precious.

Oh, I do so love you. Juicy, flavourful, soothing. I should probably break out of my tea routines, but I just don’t want to. It’s so good to be in a rut, sometimes!

Bio

I’ve been drinking loose tea since 2010 and my tastes have changed a lot over those years. For the last few, I’ve been a fan of unflavoured Chinese blacks and shu puerh. I still drink other things, but that’s where I am.

I live in a rural area with my husband, cat, and soon to be firstborn. I love tea, reading, doctor who, knitting, crosswords, board games, the marvel universe, and lots of other things.

I’m not often rating teas numerically any more but I want to leave this to explain my past ratings:
I try to only log teas once or twice because I drink a lot of the same ones repeatedly. My rating is based on my perception of the tea at first tasting and is adjusted if anything notable occurs in subsequent cups. I may also factor in the price and customer service but try to note that when I can.

81 – 100: These are great teas, I love them, regularly stock them or savour them as unique treats.
71 – 80: These are solid. I drink them, I like them, I may or may not keep them on hand regularly. This is still good stuff.
61 – 70: Just okay. I can drink it, but it doesn’t stand out to me. Might be lower quality, not to my taste, or outside my comfort zone.
41 – 60: Not likely to keep drinking…hoping hubby will enjoy!
0 – 40: No thank you, please. Take it away and don’t make me finish the cup.
