985 Tasting Notes
Tea of the evening…..
This one is not so bad for bagged tea. It will never be among my favorites, but I like it for what it is….decaf dessert black tea that is missing that metally taste that decaf teas sometimes have….
24 oz pot, 3 bags, freshly boiled water, 3 minutes. Lightly sweetened.
Preparation
I did my own version of this today….
24 oz teapot, 4 1/2 tsp Queen Catherine + 1 tsp Rose Scented, 4 minutes freshly boiled water. Lightly sweetened.
Yum! This is really the perfect amount of rose plus having added it to one of my favorites makes it even better. Do I like this better than Rose Congou? You bet I do. It is more complex. Am I giving up the Rose Congou? No way! It still makes the best iced tea and at a bargain.
Note to self…a little less of the Queen next time since you added the Rose Scented at the last minute. It will be perfection.
Preparation
Tea of the morning and my second tea from the Steepster August box……
I have had a few ginger peach teas in my tea journey, and this one is different. The ginger is the main note, with subtle hints of peachy sweetness. One ginger tea that stands out in my memory did not work for me as the ginger made the tea more bitter than spicy. This one works, though. The ginger in this one makes it refreshing and spicy without a hint of bitterness. A side effect….I can breathe very well. That morning sinus that can linger for a bit is gone.
I do like that this is not a tea I would have normally chosen due to my past experiences with very ginger teas. Thank you, Steepster, for chosing this one.
24 oz teapot, 4 1/2 actual tsp tea, freshly boiled water (in the cheap electric kettle from a big box store, because I have two from a recent product launch that quit working), 4 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

Tea of the afternoon……
LiberTEAs was right….it does get better after it has had a little time to meld for a few weeks. Still love this, and am looking forward to blending a few more. This is, after all, my dessert replacement plan… ;) Right now I have an order in for a few of Ovation’s regular offerings to try before I blend another of my own. Reviews as soon as they come in….
Preparation
The first tea I tried from the August Steepster box.
Tea of the morning…. I am not that experienced with Darjeelings, but this one is good and smooth, even plain, for this not-usually-plain-tea-drinker. The leaves are green and brown, the liquor is amber colored. I do get the light astringency mentioned in the description. I will be interested to see what everyone else thinks of this one….
24 oz teapot, 4 1/2 actual tsp tea, 3 minutes with boiling water. No additions.
Preparation
My tea of the afternoon (I had Golden Snail this morning, but how many people need to hear about it over and over?)
Nice, light almond flavor, hint of cinnamon, and the tea base is slightly smokey. Very good and it reminds me of cookies. I got this one from Dinosara from our Hoppitea swap. Are there any swap/holiday opportunities coming up? I thought it was fun!
The only bummer note as of today….my electric kettle is flaking out on me. I really want it to work, but sadly, I think it is a bust. Functionality is much more important than looks…..but it looks so nice!
Preparation
My iced tea for the day….
EDIT TO ADD: Their delivery service is appalling. I cannot in good conscience give this tea a good rating. Service = 0, the tea was about an 80. I don’t recommend shoppping with this company using their delivery service. They completely messed up my holiday order. I had promises of a full refund, and promises of a refund of shipping since they sent only a $15USD value of goods (from a $133USD order) along with their huge cost of $30USD to ship. Never got it. Had to get my credit card company involved to get a refund. Ordering from here is only worth it if you like slim chances and setting fire to your money.
I decided to try this one out as an iced tea. It definitely delivers a nice lemony note to go along with the bergamot and black tea. Yum!
Fiestaware Disc Pitcher (about 60 oz), about 10 tsp tea, 5 minutes with freshly boiled water (half volume). Allowed to cool, and added ice for the rest of the volume. No additions.
Preparation
Tea of the afternoon….
I seem to be on a dessert tea kick. Not really a problem, as it is time to settle into a better routine. Somehow, the dessert teas help me stay away from the real thing….
This one is buttery and sweet like a Brach’s butterscotch candy. Yum.
Preparation
My breakfast tea… Yes, I know this is completely out of character. I cannot remember when I had more of a dessert tea on its own for breakfast since the first days of my tea obsession.
Good.chocolate.tea. Love the light sweetness that comes from the rose. This is my chocolate tea, as it tastes of tea and chocolate, but mostly tea. I also love that the liquor is clear, and not cloudy like some chocolate teas with the addition of bits.

My tea of the afternoon…..
Today my kids went back to school. I needed this to focus on my “Mom Homework” of all the forms to sign, and this really did the trick. Luckily, they both survived the day. I think I am still in shock that my baby is in Junior High…..
I did notice my tin is remarkably low…..I am so thankful I have another since it is out of stock at the moment. For once my innate urge to have a back up of the things I love really paid off, rather than me just having too much of something.
