299 Tasting Notes
K liked this a fair bit more than me! I liked it, but I’m always a BIT disappointed by maple flavours. Mostly this reminded us of the maple whiskey that K bought.. so we added a shot :P and that was pretty good, too! Lovely to have with an apple crisp! ;) Won’t buy more of this one, but it was nice to sample. :D
Preparation
Had a big pot of this for games & Kelly this afternoon. Played Crazy Eights, a Harry Potter trading card game (oh yes), Lexigo and Crib. FUN. I always forget how much I enjoy games and usually have be dragged into them… what a dummy :P :P
Anyway, this tea is a great tea! Simple and yum.
People seem to love this tea a lot more than I did. Had this last night. Smelled REALLY GOOD dry and I really just wanted to nom it up. After steeping though, meh. The nutty yumminess became sorta obnoxious sicky-sweetness. I’m not really one for herbals that aren’t minty, overall, so I’m not really target market, but yeah, not for me.
Mmmmm, soapy. :/ Another tea that I’m going to give another go before rating, since I was a bit distracted by ALL THE DISHES EVER and oversteeped a bit. So, we’ll see. Because it smells AMAZING and I definitely want to try it again, but… yuck.
Weird ETA Uhhhhh this is growing on me as it cools? IDEK.
Weird. I was curious about it because I’d heard good things, but I’ll have to see how you rate.
Soapy… Not a selling point!
I usually enjoy this one, but history and roses have apparently shown that I enjoy drinking soapy things.
Weeeird. Good? Interesting. I don’t know, guys. Strange stuff. Was v unsure about coffee flavoured tea (dnw watery coffee!) but this was very flavourful. I understand why people call pu-erh “fishy” becuse, uh huh. But it’s not bad? It sounds like it should be, it smells like it should be but I don’t know, it’s kinda homey and mellow and soft…… and I’m absolutely boggled as to how to rate it. Resteeped it, still boggled.
Had this tonight after a disastrous Red Velvet Cake x Lapsang Souchong accident (uncool, UNCOOL). The last two times I had this, I messed it up (underleafing, maybe? probably oversteeping; let’s be honest) and I was starting to doubt my original rating but nope – still accurate! Yum yum yum.
That’s very ominous.. :P
It tasted fishy! I sipped & thought “AUGHHH GROSSSS” and then left it a bit, thought: it could not have been that bad? But it was FISHY again??? D: So I gave up on it. But then my Earl Grey tasted like curry, so something might just be wrong with me today. o_O
O.o There must be something very wrong with you..Sounds like you need the Doctor.
It’s almost a year since I finished my Long Life Oolong but I remember coming across some “interesting” taste variations, depending on steeping and ingredient proportions. I don’t recall it being very prominent but I got a hint of fishiness a handful of times too. Sense of taste and smell are funny though ;)
Something happened to this tea with me too. Not fishiness, but whatever it is, the thought of drinking it now makes me gag.
Yikes. Do not want. I hope you don’t have a lot of it!
HUH. Thanks, guys – maybe I’m not crazy! :-O I’ve only got a tiiiiny little tin of it (a couple more cups) but as it is, I’m kinda scared to try it again :P :P
