Ommy nom nom om nom. Candy roses. This tea is so good, and I’m so sad it’s no longer on their website!

Doesn’t go with the (failed yet edible) cashew chicken I just microwaved, though. Good thing it’s good cold!

So so sad. This tea was blah and watery for me today, even though I used lots of leaf and also added cream.

In other news, TODAY I am sore and soooo hungry. HANGRY! EAT ALL THE THINGS! I forgot that it’s the day after the day after the hike that I always get hit with the sore and the hunger. Whoops. I’ve eaten breakfast and lunch, and am hoping for second lunch but I don’t get to go home for another 5 hours or more. I might have to go buy some potato salad…

A teeny sample from Kittenna! Thank you. :)

This one smelled overwhelmingly of chocolate, and I was worried. I also had a LOT of chocolate chips in the 1.5 tsps or so that Kittenna shared with me, so I was worried about that too.

But! Somehow it works. It smells very much like chocolate something baking in the oven. Chocolate with vanilla. Tasting it, however, and I get the coffee. Weird! Yet also somehow tasty.

I added a tiny bit of sugar and that really brought out the coffee. A dollop of cream, and it’s… berries and coffee and chocolate. Huh. I wouldn’t have expected the chocolate to be so mild!

Thanks so much for sharing, Kittenna. You have aided my goal to Try ALL the Teas! I’m glad I didn’t get this one, it’s not exactly to my taste, although it’s a really interesting blend.

I really liked this one. The espresso note was just right, and god, the strawberries that Stacy uses…err…used, were just top notch!

Kittenna

Perhaps I should have measured/looked at the remnants of the baggie I sent! Though it sounds like you tasted the right things, so it seems to be ok.

OMGsrsly

No worries. I drank the whole cup, thoughtfully. :D

Smells like toothpaste!

Bellocq couldn’t tell me what kind of mint was in here ages ago when I asked. But now, now I can tell. Toothpaste mint. :P

I steeped low and slow, as I’m enjoying with some of the white teas I have. There’s a bite on the tongue, I can smell and taste creamy vanilla, toothpaste, and some star anise. The white tea is super mild, but I’m not surprised by that.

If you like spearmint and weird teas, definitely check this out if you can.

Thanks so much to Crowkettle for sharing this with me. Not something I’ll buy again, but something I’ve really appreciated trying.

Edit: It might be the cedar that’s giving me the SPICE on the tip of my tongue. Pretty cool!

This basically just tastes like toasted rice. I always forget how much I love this flavour until I have it! Maybe I do need a genmaicha or something similar in my cupboard, for the yums.

I can’t believe this still tastes like Violet! It’s an old sample from Fjellrev, I think. :)

Still candy-soapy-violet. Decent enough with cream, but reminds me of Thrills candy with the soapiness.

Haha. Not really recommended, but interesting to try.

Thank you!

Tabby

I miss violet tea so much! Maybe when spring rolls around…

Anlina

Haha Thrills! “Still tastes like soap!”

OMGsrsly

Thrills are lavender, but the sentiment is similar!

I actually prefer violet candies to violet tea. :)

From MissB! Thank you! (also a sipdown, whee!)

This tea is so good, IDEK. With milk, it’s just amazing. Strong base, WOW cardamom, dash of milk to even anything out (not that it really needs it, I don’t think), and yum.

… and I’m sitting here thinking I should have sent my last bag to Dexter. Sorry! But if you see this in a grocery store, get it. It’s actually really nice!

Sil

is this one from the other box?

OMGsrsly

The TTB from before she left. :D You can get it in various international/eastern european shops. I know I’ve seen it before, I’ve just never bought any.

Plunkybug

I think I might still have some…I can check and send to her if you want, or send to you with the other stuff, and you can send out when you have more.

Yay! Dexter sent me part of a tin because this is my most favourite chai ever but she didn’t love it as much. So I don’t have to be so careful with what I have left! Thank you so much Dex! :D

Good tea is SO GOOD yum. With a splosh of cream, as usual.

So I’m sipping this, I ate some of the matcha white chocolate cookies I made (I know…) and had some hardboiled eggs. I want to EAT ALL THE THINGS because I don’t think I ate quite enough while I was out yesterday. But then I was abruptly not hungry. I mean, I put the cookies away! O.O What?

The nice thing is that I’m not extremely sore. Some soreness, but I can walk without much of a problem today – just one foot is giving me some trouble, but I was expecting that TBH. My tarsals (aka cuneiform, why are there two names for these bones seriously people) are slightly overlapped and the arch collapses/ankle turns in on one foot. I’m working on it, but it takes time to restrengthen the right muscles.

So happy to hear that you aren’t too sore today. :))

:D Me too!

Edit: Whoops. Thanks so much, Dexter! I really appreciate the sample. :)

This seems like a pretty typical shou.

But holy &^%*! I can FEEL THE WARMING that Cwyn mentions in her note. OMG. Whoa.

…whoa.

Let’s see how far I can get with this tea.

2x pour-in-pour-out rinses.

Steep 1: IDK, time. WHOA. Yeah, it smells a little of that fishy smell that shou puerh does at times. But the taste is all DARK TEA and WHOA.

Oh man. Is 7pm too early to go to bed? It is? Guess I should have more tea. Ok.

Steep 2: 4-5 seconds. That’s really dark. Little mushroomy-fishy smelling. That warming taste/feeling is still there. Wow. My mouth almost feels like I’ve been nomming spicy foods. But I haven’t. Sadly. (Oooh, maybe I should order in Chinese. Or not. I am feeling kinda lazy. And IDK if Vancouver has one of those things where you order and pay online so someone just drops off food for you and there is a minimum amount of interaction.) A bit of sweetness is lingering.

Steep 3: I just want to nod off. I’m still enjoying this, but I’m not sure I’d want a lot of it. Fairly smooth, that weird “spice” flavour, a bit of lingering bitterness/sweetness.

I’ve been distracted and have done more steeps. I think I shall thaw a steak and do some dishes and cook the steak and NOM IT. Because that’s what I think my body needs.

Haha! Awesome. I’ve been all …squirrel! this evening. And I’m in bed and well fed now. :)
