1324 Tasting Notes

This was a free sample that came with my order.

The initial smell is the same as the Banana Split tea sample that I ordered. I stored them together so I think that the other tea’s smell rubbed off on this bag. There were only 2 marshmallows in my sample and I removed them because I’m vegetarian and don’t eat gelatin.

Prep: I used the whole sample up in one 10 oz mug. Prepared as instructed on the package. Steeped covered western style.

Taste wise this falls flat for me. It’s very watered down tasting cocoa powder. There is no sweetness so it needs some additives. I can’t taste the oolong really much either although I’ve never had or heard of the type of oolong listed in the ingredients. Even though while brewing it had a pleasant roasted smell that you often find with oolongs. The most interesting aspect of this tea is the chili flakes. I enjoyed the spice from the chili flakes in my cup. This tea would have definitely benefited from more chili flakes though. It also would have benefited from some sort of natural creaminess. Even though I was disappointed with this tea I gulped down my mug of this.

Also please note that before this I had a cup of some Mushroom hot cacao so my expectations may have been a little high but this tea could be really nice with some added cacao nibs or carob. I’m glad i got the chance to try it.

Drank two of these when they were on sale last week.I’d never heard of or tried this brand before so I was curious. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful green color of the tea. I wasn’t impressed by the flavor at first because I’m used to drinking Kombucha with a lot of flavor. When I drank the second bottle it really hit the spot though. I’ve never had Honeydew melon before but in general melon is supposed to be light and refreshing. This Kombucha was just that. I think the cultures they used are really nice. When I poured this into a cup it was SUPER foamy. Sometimes Kombucha can be a little too carbonated for me but this was just right. I’ve never had a Kombucha before that had that much foam, not even one on tap.

So I’ve been trying to drink up a lot of tea before my Wisdom teeth come out next week. I am getting a cold or something because my taste buds are odd I discovered yesterday and haven’t been able to breathe too well at night either. So it looks like that plan might not be the best idea now because who want’s to try new teas that they can’t taste?

Brewed this up triple strength. I love this tea so much even when I’m not sick but try to limit it because otherwise I’d use it up way too fast and would have to make another big online purchase to get more. The eucalyptus in this really helped me breathe better.

The more I drank this tea the more I reached for it. It started out as tasting very disappointing and peppery. Towards the last 4-5 tea bags the clove became more pleasant and the spices were more discernible. This last teabag with my luck just happened to have a huge rip in the sachet when i pulled it from the tin. Luckily all of the herbs were still inside and were salvaged and put into a strainer.

Drank two cups of this today. It was disappointing and even less enjoyable than the last time I drank it. Trying to drink up the last few teas I have that are about or over a year old. This one is about a year old and smells like a decadent chocolate truffle.

Prep: 1st Cup: Boiling water for 2:15 minutes
2nd Cup Just below boiling water steeped slightly longer than before.

Ended up tasting like a weak plain black tea. I changed the steeping parameters though to try to bring out the chocolate notes.

Boiling 2 min, 15 sec 2 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

This was a free sample that came with my order. I don’t believe that I’ve ever tried Darjeeling tea before either. So it’ll be interesting to see if I pick up on it in this blend.

The dry leaf smells very bright full of blueberry and lemon notes. It also smells like soda has a sort of sweet carbonated smell to it.
I felt like agave might work better than honey in this tea. I didn’t add milk because I felt like that wouldn’t fit very well with this tea which turned out to be a good decision.

Tasting Note: I expected this to be very bright and citrusy. It wasn’t at all what I expected. The blueberry and lemon really blended together and create this cup of rich, slightly buttery goodness. The Darjeeling blends really nicely with the other flavors. I don’t taste the rooibos at all which is nice. This tea leans closer to a blueberry black tea in taste with some lemon. It doesn’t have bright pops of citrus and is more rich than citrusy. I can see the muffin aspect of this tea but am conflicted in terms of how it matches it’s name. Blueberry lemon muffins usually have pops of citrus which is what I was missing in this blend. It’s still a very enjoyable cup.

Sample Sipdown!

It’s my second white that I’ve had the first was also from this company. Also my second time trying a tea from this company. This one had more flavor than the other.
I prepared this according to the instructions and added a hint of sweetener but no milk.

This tea is really interesting. It’s fruity but different than the fruity tea’s that I’m used to as I’ve never had banana in a tea before or strawberry. There is a floral note that appears just under the fruitiness. As someone else said there’s a slight custard note at the end of each sip. There’s notes of straw that appear in each sip as well probably from the white tea base I would assume. This tea is also quite creamy as well. I would definitely recommend it. It’s very unique and has quite a few different notes of complexity to each sip.

drank Sakura Cherry by DAVIDsTEA

Last tasting note on this tea for quite awhile.
Each cup of this leaves me wanting more of that toasty flavor. I have to keep reminding myself that this tea is old so the cherry cough syrup flavor has faded and that if I were to buy this again I wouldn’t like it. I haven’t had a good loose leaf Sencha in quite some time which is one of my favorite teas. So that must be where my craving for this comes from.

Drank a cup of this with my lunch. Added some Mimosa honey and a bit of almond milk. This cup was moderately good for being such an old tea. It got lost in a moving box and is 2-3 years old.

I drink tea for many reasons: For pleasure, health benefits, mindfulness, to help with anxiety, hydration because I have always struggled with drinking plain water.
