Cold brewed this one half and half with Berry Basil Blast for about 12 hours. Initially it smelled of delicious gummy candies. Strongly blueberry or Swedish berry. The taste initially was good. Strong blueberry, candy like. But after it sat for a day, the basil began to take over and the taste was not good. The basil kept getting stronger and stronger and it was making the sweet fruity taste astringent and bitter.

That’s interesting to know. I wonder why we call them Swedish berries then. I am going to have to look this up.
Because Swedish candy manufacturer Malaco made the original berries (as well as ‘Swedish fish’). They were then exported, and then Leaf bought Malaco and then the brands were licensed to other companies, or simply bought off – the way things usually go. But Swedish fish and Swedish berries are Swedish in origin – hence the name. (Yes, it does say, ‘Ask me about candy’ on my name tag.)
Fun fact of the day: in Sweden, ‘Swedish berries’ are called ‘forest berries’.
