1908 Tasting Notes
When I added the water a distinct odor wafted up out of the cup at me. The odor of…raspberries??? That’s the only thing I can call it, and nary a hint of mango OR papaya in the scent anywhere. The flavour is predominently rooibos – not my favorite to begin with – with a rather faint, sweet, generically fruity taste.
Yeah…it’s not really doing much for me I’m afraid.
Preparation
I think I’ve completely given up on rooibos teas. I’ve never had one that didn’t have that awful dusty rooibos taste that I dislike so much.
The scent of this tea is rather unimpressively tea-like – although I did notice that it’s stronger than, for instance, a Ceylon. The flavour reminds me quite strongly of a milder version of Adagio’s Black Dragon Pearls with distinct notes of tanin and cocoa.
Not bad at all. :)
Preparation
Ah, it’s nice to revisit an old favorite. I unearthed this while sorting through my tea cupboard in an attempt to: a) arrange things so that I don’t risk an avalanch every time I open the door, and b) sort out what I might like to donate to the Travelling Teabox (and yes, Angrboda, I know I’m #25 – it’s your own fault for getting us so excited about the whole thing). ;)
Preparation
Well, I couldn’t have done it in secret. :p It’s the price we must pay. But for all those impatient peeps out there, remember that I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down at the bottom! Oh, I hope it gets to the first person soon!
My morning tea – I seem to like chai in the morning for some reason, maybe because my tastebuds are too dulled to detect anything subtle at this time of day.
On a side note: It’s also nice for dipping leftover Christmas shortbread in. ;)
Preparation
My experience with white teas is, sadly, quite limited, but when I got this in a swap with Angrboda (thanks hon) I was eager to try out this tea that had garnered such rav reviews from her.
The dry leaves don’t really look like anything special, in fact they look almost identical to ones used in Adagio’s White Cucumber (bad association – I’m sorry). They brewed up a pale gold-coloured beverage, with a light, slightly-sweet odor. The flavour is…I’m not sure how to describe it except that I think this is what a good white peony tea is supposed to taste like.
Thumbs up to the Angry Dane, she’s found a winner! XD
Preparation
Have you tried Adagio’s White Peony? It is a great quality tea, especially if you are just starting out with whites.
YAY! I’m glad you liked it. :D Takgoti has mentioned walnut notes in the flavour and I agree with that. Everything just clicked into place for me when I saw that.
Backlogging from yesterday morning:
I fully admit that my brain was still fogged-over with slumber when I drank this, so I wasn’t exactly giving the tea my sharpest analysis. But I was able to process the fact that a dash of skim milk makes this tea taste very nice indeed. ;)
Preparation
I tend to get a bit of a dry cough at night time and this helps soothe my itchy throat sometimes. I was somewhat surprised to find only two tea bags left when I went rooting through the tea cupboard looking for this. Not bad for a tea I initially didn’t care for. ;)
Preparation
I feel like such a tea fiend, carefully heating my water in a temperature-controlled kettle and trying out my cool, new ultra-fine mesh filter. No sludge at the bottom of the cup – yay!
