Inkling drank Laoshan Black Chocolate Genmaicha by Verdant Tea

I somehow missed the fact that there was oolong in this tea blend, so the silky smooth mouth feel caught me off-guard. The flavor here seems more like a bittersweet cocoa than chocolate to me (maybe the chocolate would come through more with a bit of sweetener?) and there’s a strong malty taste from the base and just a little bit of toastiness in the aftertaste. This isn’t exactly what I was expecting, but it’s quite tasty!

I was introduced to loose leaf tea by a roommate in 2012, but it wasn’t until I stumbled upon Steepster in 2014 that I discovered a world of tea that went beyond Teavana and the grocery store.

My tastes continue to evolve, but black tea is currently my favorite. I am especially drawn to strong, malty breakfast blends to wake me up in the morning and flavored dessert teas to sip throughout the day.
