516 Tasting Notes
Finally! A tea that holds up to cold brewing perfectly!
I can’t wait to try it with all of my new Boston teas. A simple flavoured black. I guess that was the key all along :D
It’s sweet and mango-y, like those big suckers you can buy in dollar stores. Man I love those things. It’s not the most dignified tea in the world, but I’m excited to bring out all my Boston’s boxes at my pirate birthday party on the 20th. Oh yeah. I go all out.
Anyways, love this tea hot and cold!
I oversteeped last night, bad Daisy x_x
Not a smart idea with a cheap green like this, but it was a nice treat anyways :)
Smelled more like pomegranate than the taste. Dry it smelled amazing, like sweet red licorice! It was especially enjoyable because I got to try out my new Agave – Honey Vanilla! It hit the spot last night while the man and I looked through pictures to put in our Cuba album.
Thank you Winners for having awesome, unique stuff!
I love searching the random tea at Winners…our Chapters also carry harney and Sons teabags now. I don’t like to support Chapters, but I do like getting harneys without a shipping charge!
Nice! Thank you Uniquity, I’m totally checking out the tea at Chapters next time I go! Not my favorite “book store” to support either, but it’s by my favorite restaurant so it can’t hurt to pop in. You’ve made my day :D
Glad I could be of service! I was so shocked when I found it there. I do love finding new tea in strange places, but I always have qualms. Hope there’s something there for you! : )
Oh man…I wonder if I could convince the chapters to carry Tower of London which I so so love..
So I went to Chapters last night, only one kind of Harney & Sons (Paris) and a TON of Tea Forte stuff! So I’m going to see if Paris is my kind of tea and hope that they get more in some time n_n
I’m sure they will keep changing it up. When I was there, there was heavy focus on iced teas, and they had weird stuff going on. I bet there will be more for fall!
This is yummy!
Ok on to the review haha. After trying some BAD tetley teas, I got afraid that my taste buds were becoming snobbish. I’m blessed with a David’s Tea every day as it’s close to my work, what if I got too used to all the high fancy to-do flavoured goodness that is DT? haha what I mean is, DT has very strong flavours that are unique and I’m loving them, but what about the other teas of the supermarket world that are closer to my fingertips, the ones I grew up on?
Well superlong story short, I went to Winners and bought a giant box of Boston’s tea, about 8-10 different flavours. Heck yes.
And lo and behold – it’s yummy! Not sour and bitter like my Tetley Vanilla Earl Grey experience, but a more muted and classic Earl Grey. I used 2 tea bags because my mug is huge and it’s an early morning. Added a splash of cream and sugar, as is my want.
Happy tuesday morning.
Okay. So this started off being my least favorite, and became my favorite (so far) of the sample pack.
Dry, the leaves smelled to me like paint thinner. Hooray!
The first sip tasted really tart, thank you hibiscus, but as I kept drinking it got addictive and super yummy. Then I placed it – it tastes like Cherry Coke or Balck Cherry soda! Not as deep at Black cherry, but that flavour is def reminiscent of it. Yum!
So yeah I am pretty impressed with this tea now. The hibiscus was there because I wanted to be disappointed in this tea I think. That sounds strange, but there you go. As I kept drinking, the cherry flavor over powered it.
If I make an on-line order, I will pick up some of this.
Maybe it will inspire me to get the courage to try david’s Cherry Potion. But I doubt it.
Thanks again Tea Forte!
It’s alright, the first chocolate tea I’ve tried as long as I can remember.
Well, I shouldn’t say that… this has been sitting at teh back of my cupboard for over a year, relatively untouched. I did have one cup of it before…
Anyways – it is a touch minty and watery, and I’m not getting a lot of chocolate flavour. Guess I just wanted to try something different this morning and it’s ‘meh’.
Put in a touch of milk and sugar but it didn’t help the situation too much. I’ll pass on the second steep!
Iced tea time!
First of all, it cold brewed beautifully. The colour is just as deep and rich as the hot brewed cup!
First sip… very sagey and tart. Not unpleasant though!
Verdict: the hot brew worked better to get that tasty blueberry flavour, so if you’re going to try it iced I suggest a hot brew with ice rather than a cold brew.
All in all it’s refreshing though, I can see myself sitting outside on a hot day with a little cheese and lemon cake. Man I want to pair this tea with food so badly!
Edit: As I got to to the bottom of my cup I wasn’t liking it as much. Ended up dumping it because the herbiness (herby-ness?) was getting to be way too much. Tasted sage all day.
Preparation
I wanted so much to like this!
I LOVE Earl Grey, and I hearken back to the days when my mom and I would just throw tea bags into a cup, walk away and then walk back some time later and drink our tea.
This one leaves something to be desired, sadly :(
I got a few tea bags from my mom-in-law to tide me over until I can get some loose leaf (It’s my birthday on Aug 19th so I’m trying not to buy tea until after… it’s HARD!), but oof. the tea is bitter! So bitter it’s almost sour! And I have a dash of cream and sugar in it. Smells wonderful though haha
Well, I feel sad now. because I feel tea-spoiled. But nothing wrong with a good cup of tea! I’ll find one after I finish this :)
I really wanted to just do one tea a day but wow I wanted another one!
The dry smell is very intriguing. Herby and super fresh blueberry – I am excited.
There was lots in the bag so I made like Bliss and didn’t use much in my Tsac. The rest will turn into iced tea overnight in my ice tea mug! It’s my war against hibiscus with the cold brew method. Not sure if I’m winning that war.
The colour is deep purple and the liquid itself very aromatic. I let it steep for the full 5 minutes and it is quite tart, but juicy is a word that pops into my head too!
The sage is a VERY nice addition. It’s filling my humble cubicle with an aroma that I have to decribe as ‘gorgeous’. I want to be eating herbed roasted chicken while I drink this tea.
A solid berry tea. Will finish my review and rate tomorrow with my iced tea!
I’m upping the rating because this tea is delicious.
Sweet and carmel-y (I’m a sucker for anything with dulce in the name), creamy and decedant. I can’t spell, but I want more. That’s all I know.
Edit: I should add again that I HATE bananas. But I love carmelized bananas, or flambe.
This does not taste like bananas, it tastes like carmelized bananas – as the name suggests. Anyways, YUM.
Preparation
You seem to have the same feelings about this tea that I do! Glad to see, as nobody else seems to be getting flavours other than chamomile, which I find odd.
I find that odd too! Maybe they got a bad batch :( I went into the store but they had sent the rest back. Sadness! Now I have to make an online order to a place with 2 DavidsTeas I guess haha. feels strange!
