Oh my gooosh! My TeaLish order came today!
If you get a chance to try this company, I’m in love. Super fast shipping time, free shipping for Canadians over $50, an amazing winter sale and so many unique blends… yes!

This was my first one to try. Mm it was simple but satisfying. The strawberry held it’s own against the chocolate, and I got a bakey smell and taste! The boy thought it was just so-so, but I think this is a nice treat that doesn’t overwhelm the tastebuds.

Thanks Tealish, for amazing customer service!! (They even handwrote a little think you note ^^ ee!)

Daddyselephant

Oooooh, what else did you get?

Daisy Chubb

Oh it’s quite the list, I am so happy ee ^^ Toasty Walnut, milk oolong, patisserie, oh christmas tea, caramel oolong (which based on the reviews I may regret haha) um.. oo fairy dust! a few flowering teas, coconut cream chai and earl grey cream! phew! All under 50 bucks! I’m a happy camper :D

Plunkybug

Wow, good selection! Can’t wait to read more of the tastings.

nomadinjeopardy

I’m looking forward to the reviews, too! I’m liking the Tealish love. They have some great teas.

Daddyselephant

Yay you got Fairy Dust! Everyone should try Fairy Dust nods I’ve not tried their milk oolong, I might have to pick some up on Sunday…

Daisy Chubb

I was going to try it today and resteep all afternoon.. instead I ate a huge lunch and was so full I didn’t drink anything! Silly me, should have tried my Detox tea from Davids.. tomorrow!

Not going to rate this, because I think what happened was my fault…

The recommended steep time is 5-7 minutes… I may have let it steep for 10 when I meant to steep it for 3 or 4. It was disgusting. Bitter and hibbi all the way. Evil hibbi. I couldn’t finish the cup it was so gross.

So now I have a feeling… even if I steep it right I will taste how I made it the first time. I just can’t handle any hibiscus.

The dry smell was so tempting though… but I think I’ll stick with Forever Nuts.

Jenn

Hibbiness will ruin the best of teas :/

Daisy Chubb

Truthiness!

AliPants

This tea is just swimming in hibiscus. I tried this both at home and in-store, and trying it in store was actually worse than over steeping it. It wasn’t sure what it wanted to taste like – too many sweet, fruity ingredients, and too much hibiscus. I didn’t finish my cup either. Hell, I didn’t even finish my little mini SAMPLE cup.

Daisy Chubb

haha same Ali!
When smelling the dry stuff, I thought I would be resteeping it all day… le sigh

I haven’t review this yet whaaat?

I got a smaple from Jenn and Ashley (Sending you good energy for your move Ash). It’s great, but I’m getting the same plastic-y feeling in my mouth that I get from other honeybush blends. Still, I feel lucky to have something like this for an evening treat.

I got the cheesecake taste in the aftertaste, very nice and makes a great late night latte!

Edit: Smaples are like samples but with more love.

Drinking this hot tastes dusty and muddled.. I think it’s because I prefer my mint teas tea-less. Am I a bad person?

Still makes a great cold steep in a hurry though. Refreshing :)

drank Cheeky Lychee by DAVIDsTEA

Going to give this one a cold steep and see if the flower-power stops over-powering!!
Join me if you’ve got some Lychee to spare :D

Faith

I’ve definitely got plenty to spare, I’m finding it hard to motivate myself to drink this. How do you go about cold steeping?

Daisy Chubb

I use a wide lid container (at work a washed out Lipton Iced tea bottle, at home my david’s iced tea cup) and put in the same amount I would put in for a hot cup, so usually 1 1.5-2 teaspoons since they’re pretty large cups, then I just stick them in the fridge overnight. Some teas are strong enough that they’re ready after a few hours, but overnight is usually a good test.

It really makes the teas taste totally different sometimes (sometimes it fails horrible haha), but I’m going to try some Lychee overnight tonight and report back!

Sometimes (at work haha) I’ll leave it on my desk and watch the tea slowly steep into the room temperature water. It’s really quite neat. Also makes the day go by. I digress!

Let me know if you give it a try! :)

Daisy Chubb

Also ^ I usually cold steep with just teabag teas, but for these instances I use a paper teasac – not sure if it would be bad to put a metal strainer in, but I bet it would work to just throw in the loose leaf and strain it in the morning too!

Faith

So no hot water? Just plain, old cold water? Hmmmm intruiging!

Sending the rest of this off in a swap.

So I never did review my real experience with this tea… the first time I thought the bitterness was just an error on my part (water too hot, etc), and that that AMAZING drool worthy black currant smell would come out in a later cup.

MM afraid not, I can’t seem to make this one not be a bitter mess! Yay for double negatives. Butbutbut – because of some of the raving reviews I hear from others, I have hope in passing this one on to a better home. It’s only enough for one cup, so if it fails, the world will go on. :)

drank Coffee Pu'erh by DAVIDsTEA
516 tasting notes

Prefer this iced, 100%

For any coffee lovers: My coworkers LOOOOVES this tea (of course, now she wrongly assumed all puerh tastes like coffee, luckily I gave her a taste of a few other puerhs from Davids before she spent all her money. I’ll have to bring her some Jerry Ma samples for a better idea!! :) )

Great flavoured puerh, but careful of the steep time. I actually find this one benefits from a rinse! About 3-5 seconds of a rinse and all fishiness disappears for me. It’s a lot more earthy as a result, but I don’t mind.

TeaBrat

i’ve heard you should always give pu-erhs a quick rinse b4 steeping.

Daisy Chubb

I believe it for sure, I haven’t quite mastered how to do it at work, but I’m working on it haha :D

I can’t seem to recreate my first cup of this baby.
Has anyone cold brewed this? I don’t want to waste it, but I’ve never cold brewed a green tea before.* I would love some advice! :3 *

Mercuryhime

I just dump the tea leaves in a pitcher of colder water overnight. They say to use more leaf than usual. I personally only measure by feel so no advice there. I do love cold brewed greens though.

Daisy Chubb

Thanks!! Much appreciated. I just tried a cold steep on another flavoured green tea and it seems to work alright, so I’ll give it a try for sure.

Still not a fan of the base, but with milk and sugar and some sweetener this tea delivers like a mo fo.

My favourite tea companies are DavidsTea and Verdant Tea. They please my palette in different ways – and I love them both for it.
