865 Tasting Notes
My computer project took forever… I think my crosseyedness had something to do w/ it. So to celebrate it FINALLY being done, I prepared this strong, by using 1 heaping teaspoon which is 4g! because I wanted to add creamer. After steeping added 1 teaspoon each white chocolate and spiced rum creamers. Perfection! No cuppa diluted creamer. Strong flavors and black tea base.
Preparation
2nd infusion, 6min. Clean. Good. Although for the extra 1.5g that I used I expected the 2nd infusion to me much darker and stronger.
3rd infusion, 7 min. Surprisingly good considering how light infusion 2 was. Infusions 2 and 3 were closer in liquor than 1 and 2.
Definitely need brain power and patience today. I’m trying to figure out my Bible reading plan for Lent. Divide by chapters (which would make it easier to pick up where I leave off) or verses (which would make it more even)? I steeped a bag of RoT’s Get Relaxed! for 9min 20sec for the patience and added a scoop of matcha for extra brain power:)
Preparation
White chocolate Irish Creme CappuTEAno. 2.25g steeped in 4oz water steeped in water just below boiling for 5 min. Add 3TB Irish Creme instant cappuccino mix and 1TB white chocolate coffee creamer.
This is kind of a bittersweet cuppa (circumstance wise, not the tea itself). I’m celebrating National Hot Tea Month, but I’m mourning the fact that my left arm still hurts after my flu shot 48hrs ago, I have a sore throat (wasn’t I just sick?!), I’m dealing w/ some really difficult people, and… Adagio has DISCONTINUED their Rum flavored black tea!!! :,(
For instant, it isn’t bad. Adding the tea and the creame make it so much better. The white chocolate gets rid of the artificial after taste and the cream and rum flavored teas give the flavors in the instant mix some depth.
Preparation
I’m still trying to find out about National Hot Tea Month. I assume it is a US thing. I read a statistic somewhere that in the US less than 5% of tea is drunk hot. Here is Australia, less than quarter of a percent is drunk as iced, so perhaps we don’t need it! However, I’m keen on any excuse.
Yeah, just a US thing. If it was world wide, (and it should be) it’d be International Hot Tea Month. And most of the iced tea here is filled w/ sweeteners.
What passes for iced tea here – and it’s exploded in the last few years, is kind of a sugar cordial with pretend fruit flavours, usually something like .08% tea, and sold as being a healthy alternative to soft drinks. It’s fantastic if you have the plate of a three year old and no family history of diabetes.
That’s the way it is a lot here too. The only place I’ll even dare order an iced tea when I go out to eat is Subway because it’s specifically labeled unsweetend and I can’t stand mine sweetened.
When we owned a tea shop with 160+ tea, the greatest joy on a 40deg. (Celsius) day was deciding which teas I would be making in two three litre jugs. And drinking some! Honeyed Moroccan Mint still my favourite.
2nd infusion. 6min. Very boring brown liquor, but it’s a very dark brown. Hmmm… interesting… I’m just getting a strong black tea- no cream and no rum. Strong isn’t to be confused w/ bitter, astringent, or harsh. It’s just not weak. It could easily be taken for a 1st infusion. While there’s no creamy flavor to this infusion, it’s definitely a smooth cuppa. I’m not a fan of black teas, but I like it.
3rd infusion. 7min. Not a necessarily darker liquor, but definitely a more attractive reddish brown. Flavor is pretty much the same as last time.
Drinking this, still trying to figure out exactly why they call it yellow.
Preparation
3rd infusion, 5 min. Again, really the only difference is the increasing sweetness. This is quite a durable tea. I like it.
Mom’s stealing my 5th infusion which is really surprising. I can’t remember the last time she made herself tea other than salada bagged green (good bagged green by the way) and she hardly ever even does that!
6th infusion, 8 min. 1st infusion where there’s a noticable drop off in liquor- but it’s still by no means light.
7th infusion, 9 min. Hmmm… Interesting… Lighter liquor which isn’t surprising. And it’s peachy. I’ve had peachy liquors before, but none w/ a pinkish tint before.- And I’ve even had this one before. That’s a new one. As much as I’m interested in seeing what other tricks these leaves have planned, I’m gonna go to bed so I think I’ll retire these leaves.
Nursing my arms (3 viles of blood drawn and 2 flu shots last nite) today w/ a half bowl of this!:)
Preparation
Food could do that. I just need comfort:) Being a manual wheelchair user, having 2 sore arms is not good.
Madison. physically- maybe. Emotionally- OH YES! And there is a direct link to emotional and physical health.
Glad this matcha is giving you a smile as you’re nursing those arms =]
I’m surprised it’s still in your cupboard!
Full Leaf! Ordered a tall double shot 2 pump caramel 2 pump mocha upsidedown latte w/ 2 chai bags topped w/ whip and caramel and mocha drizzles. But I’m sure I didn’t say that in the correct ordering format lol.
What did you think of the full leaf tea? Could you tell the difference from the old bagged tea? What you ordered sounds delicious! I had a little Starbucks gingerbread latte “problem” around the holidays :)
I couldn’t really tell the difference, But I’m sure you could if all the other stuff wasn’t in it:). I keep saying I never sweeten my tea, but every year I get one tall double bag green ginger tea w/ 2 pumps gingerbread syrup. SO good. This year I even froze my tail to suffer thru one iced. Will definitely be getting one of each again next year.
1 scoop made thick, 3oz water. Matcha is strong, orange is strong… yummmy!!!
