865 Tasting Notes
I was really excited about this one because flavored oolongs are rare and even taboo w/ some tea drinkers, but was disappointed. Instead of normally measuring it by weight (2.25g/6 fl. oz) I decided to put one teaspoon in because of the flavorings. I steeped it at 195 degrees F for 5 min in 6oz purified water. I personally like at least a 1:1, but preferably a 2:1 ratio of flavoring to true tea tast. Unfortunately the taste of the oolong was completely masked by the lemon. This would be good in TheraFlu or a hot toddy during the flu season with a lil honey and whiskey. I rated it a thumbs down because I personally do not like herbal teas alone, but if you don’t mind that you can’t taste the oolong tea it’s a very good tea.
Quite honestly I’m amazed I like this chai because I absolutely can not stand anise. I love that they serve an organic chai. I always order my tall chai latte w/ no water and 2 chai bags. I let the latte steep and cool for 5 mins before drinking but do not remove the tea bags. For those that enjoy dirty chai lattes I suggest 2 shots for a tall. For those that enjoy flavored chai or dirty chai lattes, I suggest 2 pumps (each) vanilla, mocha, white mocha, and/or caramel. I personally like 2 of all of the above.
Quite honestly I’m amazed I like this chai because I absolutely can not stand anise. I love that they serve an organic chai. I only have this at starbucks and often get a tall double shot 2 bag chai Americano when I want a spicey coffee drink w/o the milky texture. I let my chai tea (or chai americano) steep and cool for 5 mins before drinking but do not remove the tea bags. I also frequently order a tall double shot 2 bag iced blended americano. This may confuse baristas, so just tell them to add 2 shots of espresso to the tea when steeping before adding ice and blending. For those that enjoy flavored chai tea or chai americano (iced and blended or hot) for a tall (at SBUX- 12oz) I suggest 2 pumps (each) vanilla, mocha, white mocha, and/or caramel. I personally like 2 of all of the above. If you want a little more creamy texture w/o adding milk, top w/ whip.
Quite honestly I’m amazed I like this chai because I absolutely can not stand anise, although I wish they would serve it made w/ real chai and not concentrate. I always order my tall iced chai latte blended w/ no water and 2 pumps of concentrate as ordering it unblended makes it get watery VERY quickly. For those that enjoy dirty iced chai lattes, I suggest 2 shots for a tall. For those that enjoy flavored iced chai or dirty chai lattes, I suggest 2 pumps (each) vanilla, mocha, white mocha, and/or caramel. I personally like 2 of all of the above.
