171 Tasting Notes
I asked for a peppermint tea and that’s what I got! WOWEEE!
What a week. Crazy busy at work and home. My kitty crossed the rainbow bridge this week, he was twelve. Mojo will be missed, but because of his health issues he outlived the vets projection.
Today I shipped Military BoxerPapa off to the ranges for a training weekend. Now I simply needed a chance to breath.
This tea definitely helps with that! Very good, VERY smooth. I completely underestimated this tea when I bought 50 grams of it though. I got a HUGE bag. . . If anyone wants to try it let me know, lol.
Preparation
I got this as a part of a VERY generous promo on behalf of Zen Tea. As a part of this we got to pick the tea we wanted. I picked three that I wouldn’t normally try.
This one, when brewing smelled almost like cough drops. But, tastes super sweet and smooth. I LOVE this tea, I’m beginning to realize that I love rooibos. Very excited to try my other choices.
Preparation
I was given a packet of this tea from a friend at work. I made cup of chai and she insisted I try it.
It literally smells exactly how it tastes. Smooth and light. The spice isn’t very present, cinnamon yes. Little bit of clove. Vanilla, yes.
It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t buy it.
Preparation
After toying with what to to brew up I settled on this one. I figured all oolong is best saved for the day when you have a chance to resteep. Today will not be that day. Then it came down to this or tamarind pop. I want to try something new. Mostly because I have tea samples exploding over my shelf and I believe this is one I’ve had a while. I think I got it from Awkward soul. I could be wrong.
This is my first from 52 teas. I wasn’t expecting this. I was expecting a clever name for a cup of maple tea. Not a big ol’ cup a pancakes. Somehow, they pulled it off. It’s sweet and refreshing and definitely tastes like pancakes. Well done!
Preparation
It’s much easier to bring tea bags to work than loose leaf. There’s never a lull and no one likes an over steeped leaf.
Today in the mad rush I was in I grabbed a couple bags of this and ran out the door. Around 3pm I hit a wall and decided to brew up a pick me up. Started the kettle, dropped a cube of plantation sugar in my cup, opened the fridge. . . No milk?!!!!!!!
French vanilla international delight coffee creamer… Doesn’t sound too bad with Chai.
Only problem encountered was the fact that this tea is overwhelmingly gingered. I got punched in the mouth with ginger.
In the end it tasted like ginger snaps, but I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not so I wont rate it yet.
Preparation
the french vanilla could have thrown the flavor off. If you drink Milk try it with a high fat milk (3% is good, 2% is acceptable). the fat makes it taste better, and sugar brings out the spices nicely.
I have tried it with one percent once… dumb idea it was horrible, like drinking peppered water.
try it again and see if you like it. it’s best hot.
Guayusa scares me. I had a cup of bare guayusa a few weeks ago and dumped it down the sink. BUT, after only one third of the to go cup I had a huge energy rush. So, today I woke up exhausted and rushed as it was the first time I didn’t set the alarm for my usual 6 am, but 7 instead. So I brought this to work with me. Man is it good! I put milk and cane sugar in it, that’s how I like my morning tea. It tasted almost bubble gum like!
Thanks to Will Work For Tea for this sample!
Preparation
Officially a butiki fan girl. This is unlike anything ever.
The first sip confused me, not overly familiar with tamarind. It was sweet, creamy sweet. Then this taste came over me that reminded me of a hard candy that I was given at an East Indian restaurant on vacation. A sweet, slightly sour, spice.
Preparation
Thanks to Will Work For Tea for this sample. This tea cements the fact that I need to order from Butiki. Fabulous tea. Creamy, fruity and sweet.
Preparation
Decided, after much debate to go check out the farmer’s market today. Parking lot was UTTER MADNESS, so I went to DT instead. Purchase some new Pure Vanilla and a tin to keep my swap swag in. Tin isn’t big enough, but that’s another story.
I get home and let the dogs out, sit down, check FB and find out there was a dog show at another building on the grounds and that was why it was so busy. I would have loved to check it out. Disappointed.
Let the dogs back in, the brown devil aka Rally Rims is COVERED in mud. She needs a bath which will take a wrestle. It’s a darn good thing I have a great cup of tea in my hand or I’d go mad… Wait, the other dog just yarfed. Can it be a new day now?
I’m sorry about your kitty. :(
Thank you, he is missed.
So sorry to hear about your kitty Mojo. He had a good life with you!
