Popular Tasting Notes
I liked this very much. I made it in a glass tea tumbler, and so did not remove the leaves after steeping – the flowers were very lovely, so make it in a glass pot or mug if possible. The floral and fruity notes are not too strong and don’t overpower the blend of green and white teas. I was surprised at how well balanced the flavors are in the mix.
Preparation
How i got it: Got a bag in a swap with my wife (part of Basilur’s “Specialty Classics” Pack)
Experience: This tea has a crisp, mild to intense, well defined, classic Ceylon aroma. Indeed, I’d say it’s more fragrant that the average Ceylon, reminding me of Dilmah’s English Afternoon. I can sense some acidic notes in its scent, too. On the other hand, it has a bold, well defined and lasting flavor, but also a distinctive smoothness (unlike other other Ceylon teas, i couldn’t sense any tart notes on it) and richness. I sense very slight hints of caramel too, characteristic of the Basilur teas, which gives it a special touch. I’d say with some confidence it justifies its OP classification. Very good.
Would i buy it?: It has real possibilities, but competition in this category is tough, hehe. Maybe i’ll go for it when looking for a good loose leaf Ceylon.
Welp, follow up. Went and had it again without remembering my previous tasting.
Loved it on first mouthful.
Came back to leave a review and reread my old one. This is a really tricky one, for sure.
I’ve ordered more since this one was a all from a sample tin. Quite an oddly indeed.
Preparation
Well, I hate coconut and I hate rooibos so I was anticipating this tea to be a bomb, total nope, gross. Fortunately, the chai mellows out the flavors I don’t like, and so this tea actually isn’t horrid! Its a very mild flavor, not unique or distinguished – but in this case that is a good thing.
Flavors: Cardamom, Coconut, Peppercorn, Rooibos
Preparation
First cup I had of this was bearable- after having a second I think this is primarily because I drank it straight. It is best when still hot. It is a bit more astringent than I prefer and also has a very grassy taste as it cools. In order to make my second cup more drinkable, I added some muddled lime, even this failed to help the flavor.
