This came as one of my “Frank Really Messed Up The Inventory” teas, and I was quite pleased. I am really liking the honeybush, and this is one I’ve considered buying.

This is good, and definitely watermelon. However, I can see what another poster said about it being a kind of watermelon rind/raw watermelon taste. It’s still a nice taste, though it’s pretty mild and unassuming. I had a cup of this hot and let a glass cool to room temperature, and that was very nice. Still very mild, but very pleasant. I can see it being good on a hot day.

I wanted something rich to drink tonight, but I really shouldn’t drink a tonne of caffeine as I have been up all night the past two nights. I believe pu’erh has less/little caffeine, so this fits the bill perfectly. I hope.

I always get a weird scent when opening my tin of this tea, kind of soapy. I don’t know what causes that, but it always brews up creamy and rich. Rather than a chocolate flavour, I get bitter/raw cocoa from the cocoa nibs, but it is very smooth. This is always great to come back to.

Ohhh you still have some of it left, you lucky! I wish I had gotten a big amount of it while it was available, I totally loved it and it seems it didn’t make the cut after winter (unlike Through The Grapevine) :( Enjoy while you still can!

I am lucky! It seems like a lot of people would like to see it become permanent.

This tea does strange things to my head. The scent is really potent and blows me away while pouring my cup. From the scent I think I know what’s coming. It takes me back to my early highschool tea days, or to that best cup of Earl Grey I’ve ever had at a cafe by St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. But there is also a bit freshly-squeezed orange hitting my nose along with the bright bergamot.

Bringing the cup up to sip, my tastebuds are still expecting a classic Earl Grey. So it’s a bit of a shock to get what they do, but they like it. The crisp bergamot is delicious but there are also other juicy citrus notes and a light sweetness. None of the astringency of black tea. It all blends together seamlessly.

I wanted something with at least a little caffeine this morning, but it needed to be gentle. This made the perfect Sunday morning tea.

Wow, I’ve never logged a note about this tea!

This was actually the first DT tea I ever tried. And my first rooibos. I added it to my first-ever order and I’d like to think it was because the ingredients sounded interesting rather than self-absorption re: the name, but that’s debatable.

Anyway, I don’t like lavender. But I’ve come to realize I pretty much like coconut in tea any time, any place. This tea is floral, but the coconut smooths it out really nicely and the combination is really calming. So last night when I wanted a good bedtime tea I went for this. It was late but I didn’t feel ready to sleep yet I didn’t want more Mother’s Little Helper. This, I find, is the perfect evening tea. Very relaxing, I’m guessing thanks to the lavender. This one is tasty and great at night but I don’t really feel compelled to re-stock often. My tin is almost empty now. I’ll likely get a bit more to keep on hand, though, because it fills a certain niche really well.

Hm. This is pretty good, but not amazing. I get hints of butter and cinnamon and I can see where the smoky tea is going. I don’t get much raisin, but maybe a hint of sweetness. It’s tasty and interesting and I love the concept, but I suppose I wouldn’t say I get cinnamon raisin toast from it. I actually get the buttered cinnamon raisin toast a lot more from the scent than from the taste. I will have to try it again, maybe brewed stronger, as it would be nice to get a cinnamon toast fix without having to eat the bread! Yum.

This tea is so satisfying. It’s one that I feel drawn to no matter what’s going on. It works as a breakfast tea, and it works as more of a dessert tea later in the day for me. I can really see it becoming a staple when my order from early March gets here (my previous order is now on its 40th day and still hasn’t reached me! yikes!).

I got this in the discounted Valentine’s sampler. I finally got around to trying it this morning. I was pretty excited by the tea in its tin. I looks great, and smelled heavenly. I could pick out several unique scents in the dry tea.

But, when I got to sippin’ I wasn’t as impressed. This is pretty good, but the Earl Grey doesn’t really come through for me. There is so much going on, I think, that it just tastes a little murky. I do like it and will definitely take another shot of it soon, when I have more time to enjoy it, but I wasn’t as taken with it as I thought I would be by two things so great as chocolate and EG.

drank Oh Canada! by DAVIDsTEA
658 tasting notes

When I visited a sugarbush (which didn’t yet have any maple syrup!) a couple weekends ago, I realized I hadn’t tried Oh Canada. What was with that? I have tried most or all of the flavoured DT teas that appeal to me, so I knew I had to get on this.

Opening the bag is just like opening a bottle of maple syrup. Same scent, same colour. Although there are candies. As wonderful as maple syrup is, it doesn’t have colourful candies. I would like to be ashamed of getting excited at candies in tea, but why wouldn’t something like a maple-flavoured rooibos have candies?

Anyway, I deeply and sincerely love maple syrup. But, it’s not exactly compatible with my attempted lowish-carb diet. I have some artifically sweetened maple(-flavoured?) syrup, but I have to try pretty hard to convince myself it’s anywhere close to the real thing. This tea does taste seriously mapley, so it’s great to have in my arsenal of craving-killing teas. I’ll need to get more than the small amount I picked up, as I’ve already had three cups of it. I prefer it with a little milk, I think, but definitely feel no need to sweeten it. I also clearly need to use this the next time I make pancakes!

Daddyselephant

My wife and I made syrup out of this tea and it is so very tasty.

nomadinjeopardy

Um, that is brilliant. I just realized I could try making syrup with this tea and a sweetener like erythritol. I have type 1 diabetes and don’t like artificial sweeteners, which makes things difficult. Thanks for the idea!

Ah, this tea is so wonderful. I know I love it, but when I’ve gone a while without drinking it I sometimes second-guess my love. One must understand how terribly I thought I hated jasmine for years of my tea-drinking life. It smelled like perfume and tasted like soap, and I could not figure out why it continued to be put in tea. This is why!

Since encountering higher-quality tea, I have found a few jasmines I like. But this one takes the cake. It’s light and delicate but sweet and indulgent. It makes me feel like I am sitting in a park surrounded by spring blossoms and a light breeze. That sounds over-the-top girly, but even the boyfriend enjoyed this last night. I selected it to accompany our bowl of blackberries and evening of watching the Tudors. It was a nice way to unwind after what feels like an altogether unreasonable amount of schoolwork, and the tea was nice with the berries.

I’m also pretty shocked at how economical this tea is, for how expensive it seems. I used 5 or 6 pearls per 12 oz of water. I didn’t have time to steep them again, but I’m pretty sure the pearls would be lovely for another infusion or two. They are perfect to grab when you realize you have forgotten to pack tea and will be travelling, as you don’t even need a strainer! I love that DT sent this as a prize for the Twitter contest. In fact, it’s slow at work and I think I’m going to go make some more now!

Maxime-Daniel Friðrikson

Damn! 5 or 6 for 12oz. Now this tea seems a lots more worth the price for me! Thanks for the review :)

nomadinjeopardy

No problem! It’s really surprising how few you need.

Michelle Butler Hallett

Good jasmine tea is like ambrosia. Bad jasmine tea is like soap. Pearls are soooooo good. Serious re-steeping, too.

You make these pearls sound like heaven. I have some on hand from my local tea shop right now, carefully sealed in an airtight tin. Sometimes I open the tin just to inhale the scent. Sooo relaxing.

MoonShyne

I absolutely love this tea and you gave me a great idea when you mentioned this would not even require a strainer. I can see this being put in my thermos for on the go cup of tea. Thank you! This tea will be a regular for me. I just adore it!

MoonShyne

I had to laugh..your review reads very much like mine. Before I saw yours I wrote that it’s like laying on a freshly washed cozy blanket in a meadown in Spring..despite the storm of life raging on or something to that effect. I think your as in love with this amazing tea as I am! It’s so exciting to find a tea that well, I am so excited about lol. It’s truly tea-nirvana! lol ok I’m getting carried away here..back to sipping this delicious tea :)

I don’t know what my problem was the first time I tried this tea, but I drank it again and quite enjoyed it. Maybe it’s just the sense of (hopefully) approaching mild weather, but it seemed so bright and cheery. Quite opinionated for a green tea.

The sencha in this counterbalances the fruitiness really well to make a delicate but juicy cup of tea. I found it not unlike the Den’s Tea pineapple sencha I so love. I will have to ice this one if I have the chance before I drink all of the little pouch of it hot.
