658 Tasting Notes
This tea DOES smell great. I’m not a coffee drinker but I received a sample of this tea and THOUGHT I really liked it for those first two cups. I was surpirsed at how tasty and lacking in bitterness it was.
Being a limited-edition tea, I thought I should buy 100g of it. After I received that, I wondered what I had been thinking. I’ve only tried it two or three times since, and it’s not awful but it doesn’t do much for me. It can get kind of bitter and I can’t remember what I liked about it.
I’m thinking the difference could be that with the sample I was using milk as I was at my parents’, and since I have been putting almond milk in it. Perhaps I will get some real milk and try it again.
I got a couple cups’ worth of this from a sample.
It’s okay, and I don’t like banana-flavoured things, so I guess that’s not bad. It does smell just like banana nut bread, and the taste isn’t that far off. It actually seems really sweet to me, though. I let it over-steep once and that was not good. I find it gets kind of sickly-sweet/rich towards the end.
I wouldn’t buy it but would certainly recommend trying it if you like banana flavours.
This tea didn’t really sound like something I would like, but the reviews on here seemed so enthusiastic and it smelled so interesting in the store that I went for it.
I’m really glad I did. It seems to be one of the teas I go back to most often. It’s so satisfying. It’s got green, it’s got rooibos, it’s got chocolate, it’s got some earthy/spicy stuff going on. What more could I want? It seems like a great winter-time tea right now.
Preparation
This tea is pleasant. That sums it up for me.
I find it very enjoyable when I drink it, but I don’t find myself reaching for it or craving it often for some reason. It is pretty nutty which is nice but as others have mentioned overrides the white tea flavour. Largely I prepare it for my mother when she’s over as she likes anything involving white tea and it’s not going to over-excite her (which is easy to do).
Preparation
I simmered a sample of this (two teaspoons) in two cups of almond milk (unsweetened vanilla) on the stove.
It was tasty and very soothing! I think I will purchase a small amount at some point as it was a very relaxing drink. The tea is indeed very fine and a tiny amount escaped my fairly fine strainer, but it didn’t really bother me. I used almond milk for its low carb content so I can’t speak for it in actual milk, and I haven’t brewed it in water. But I was quite happy with this as my past chai experiences have been touch-and-go.
