278 Tasting Notes
Not sure about this one. I like the ginger. It’s got a nice kick, which I enjoy, but the overall taste is a little weak. I brewed according to the directions, and steeped at the high end of the time range,
If I have enough left, I’ll try using 1.5x to 2x the tea per 8 oz next time. I want to like this a little more because I love ginger so much.
Preparation
I’ve had this tea too. The problem is the tea needs to be steeped and ginger is a root that needs to be boiled to extract the essence. One would be better off adding a squeeze of fresh ginger juice to regular puerh. However the tea does help with digestion a bit if I’m feeling overly full and get things moving along.
This was my first month of Handmade Tea. I could barely smell and taste the lemon, but I still like this tea. I added a little sugar and I liked the result. I thought this tea had a lovely mild flavor. I’m going to try this as a cold brew later. I may add a little extra lemon and see how that goes.
Edit: I made this as an iced tea, and it’s very good. I used some sweetener and the result was very refreshing. Thumbs up for summer!
Preparation
Thanks to hapatite for this sample! I really liked this one! I made the original for my BF this AM, and the roasted for me. I liked the original a little better, but both are good.
If you’re into milky sweet tea, this would be an excellent portable tea. It’s smooth and pleasant.

Preparation
This tea is pretty heavy on the cinnamon. The aroma is primarily cinnamon, and a little nutty.
After steeping, the flavor was kind of weak, and I steeped for 6 and a half minutes. I added a little rock sugar, which brought the nutty flavor forward. I didn’t taste any fruit. There was an odd flavor to this one, and it tasted a little artificial.
Preparation
The dry aroma on this tea is really interesting. It smells malty, and there’s a general roasty aroma. It smells like something I have smelled before, but I cannot place the aroma.
The tea steeps to a light yellow amber color and I taste the same malty/roasty type scents from the aroma.
It’s a little pricey, and while I think it’s very good, I didn’t love it.
Preparation
I originally had the review for this tea under Yezi’s Jin Jun Mei, which is obviously incorrect. I am putting it in its proper place, as well as making an update.
Round 1: This tea has a lovely malty flavor. I wish I could pick out some additional aromas or flavors, but alas, I cannot.
I steeped this at 205 degrees for 5 minutes. I also did a 2nd steeping for 6 min. I wish this tea was a little sweeter, but it was good. The second steeping had less maltiness and tasted more like plain tea.
Next time, I may add a teensy bit of sugar, just to see how that goes.
Round 2: I brewed 1 tsp in 3 oz of 202 degree water using very short steepings. The first was 30 then another 30, then 40.
I could barely smell or taste the maltiness from the first round. Instead, the tea smelled more grassy, and I was also picking up the scent of popcorn.
The flavor was good, but I actually preferred the stronger malty flavors from the first round.
Preparation
This is so perfect for warm weather. It’s a pretty dark pink shade, from the hibiscus, and the lemon flavor is really lovely and strong. I drank this hot, but I can already tell it will be excellent as a cold brew.
I do wonder why David’s uses artificial flavorings. Artificial lime? Really? Because the real thing is SOOOOO hard to come by?
I really enjoyed this tea, but I am on the lookout for something similar without the artificial flavors.
Preparation
OMG! I’ve been trying to pass my bag of Pink Lemonade to someone for ages! And now that I have kind of pushed it onto someone else, I see this! Life, why you so funny.
NO! Well yes, a bit of it. But then I pushed it onto another user as well! I’m sending her the rest of the bag. But it could be you if you don’t stop! xD
They have these at Asian groceries (I’ve only had luck with Chinese ones like Great Wall or Kam Sam), but I always stock up!
Oh reeeeallly? I’ll bet I could find them here at our Asia Mall. They have the best Asian Grocery around… it’s actually more like a supermarket. I love it there.
I will look when I go. Thanks for the heads up!
